Sen. Bernie Sanders's supporters angrily stormed out of a caucus here on Monday night, calling the process a "joke" and a "waste of time" after they started out with more than twice as much support as any other candidate, ending up in a five-way tie, with all viable candidates sharing one delegate apiece. Under the complicated caucus system, there are multiple stages of voting. First, there is a vote to determine initial support. After that point, only candidates with 15% of the vote are considered viable. However, those voters who did not initially choose a viable candidate can migrate to another candidate.

If the case against President Trump’s alleged abuses were “open and shut,” Daniel McCarthy wonders at Spectator USA, then why don’t “Democrats and the pundits . . . trust voters to be persuaded by this purportedly airtight case” and boot him from office come November? The answer: “The people hoping for the Senate to remove Trump are Democrats, but they aren’t democrats, and they think the American voting public already made the wrong choice in 2016.”

Wuhan Coronavirus Looks Increasingly

The Wuhan coronavirus spreading from China is now likely to become a pandemic that circles the globe, according to many of the world’s leading infectious disease experts. The prospect is daunting. A pandemic — an ongoing epidemic on two or more continents — may well have global consequences, despite the extraordinary travel restrictions and quarantines now imposed by China and other countries, including the United States. Scientists do not yet know how lethal the new coronavirus is, however, so there is uncertainty about how much damage a

These are the so-called elite conservatives, intellectuals, smarter than your average Republican rube, the voice of reason and wisdom for the conservative movement. Now that the Democrats’ dream of stealing the 2016 election through the power of MSNBCNN-fueled outrage, and through plots by fussy lib bureaucrats, lies in ruins, some people might argue that we should be gracious in our total victory and not mock the stinging pain that accompanied this latest agonizing failure. Some people are sissies. Hoist a stein overflowing with the tears of these losers and chug chug chug away. Then tap another keg. This party is finally getting started, and it’s going to rage on until January 2025. Maybe even longer, if you listen to the Bozos, Pennywises, and Krustys they find for those CNN panels.
Tax season kicks off

Tax season kicked off Monday, and the biggest question on most taxpayers’ minds is how quickly they will get their refunds. Receiving a refund can normally take up to six weeks, but staffing issues at the agency might make that turnaround time much longer. Customer service is a big part of making tax seasons successful, and the Internal Revenue Service is one of the lowest-scoring agencies in that area, according to the Taxpayer Advocate Service annual report to Congress for 2019. Budget cuts are a contributing factor to the IRS’s poor customer service — it's harder to garner more hires with less money. Agency head count has fallen by 20%

America wakes up on Monday morning with a new hero. Step forward Patrick Lavon Mahomes II. On a cool night in Miami, the 24–year-old displayed ice in his veins. His comeback – rallying his side from 20-10 down with an explosive 21 points in seven incredible fourth quarter minutes will become the stuff of legend. Not that everyone will have been surprised. Why? Because with Mahomes, you always have a chance. Always. Even when you are 10 down to the meanest offense in the NFL. Even when you have spent three quarters effectively on the run. Even when those marauding, vicious 49ers are coming in for the kill. Always.

Just one day before the first decisions are made in the 2020 presidential election season, an ascendant Amy Klobuchar is facing tough questions about an almost two decade-old case case she worked as a county prosecutor that sent an African-American teen to jail for life. Klobuchar, a moderate Democratic senator from Minnesota whose dark horse presidential primary run has her polling strong in early voting states, is being forced to answer questions about her past work as the top prosecutor in Minnesota’s most populous county less than 24 hours before Iowa Democrats begin to caucus. The criticism of Klobuchar comes after a story by The Associated Press and American Public Media uncovered

Call me Karen, I really don't care, but what I just sat through during the halftime show at the 2020 Super Bowl should never happen again. I want to speak to all the supervisors who let this happen.(Snip for tweet) The FCC still has rules about decency on network television between certain hours when children are watching. It is well established that children are watching during the Super Bowl. I had to send mine out of the room as soon as Jennifer Lopez took the stage in what looked like a two-sided thong and buttless chaps. The camerawork was outrageously gross, zooming in on Lopez's barely covered crotch, so close

Friday’s Senate vote rejecting Democrats’ demands to call witnesses in the Trump impeachment trial makes the president’s acquittal inevitable. But for the Senate bloviators’ desire to make more pointless speeches, the acquittal — which is scheduled for Wednesday — would have already happened. The vote will occur the day after Trump delivers his annual State of the Union speech on Tuesday evening. That speech will be pure Trump: boasting about past successes, bragging about successes to come in 2020, and making the Dems squirm. (Those who were given Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s infamous impeachment signing pens may want to return them.) There will be no post-impeachment period of reflection

Hell hath no fury like Bernie’s millennials if they are thwarted. Bernie Sanders has the youngest, biggest and most passionate crowds on the eve of the Iowa caucuses, and in Cedar Rapids on Saturday night, he primed his supporters to prepare for war — and not just against President Trump. “We are taking on the entire political establishment,” he told the 3,000-strong crowd. “Both the Republican establishment and the Democratic establishment . . . This is the political reality of the moment.”

Beyonce, Jay-Z and their kid, Blue Ivy, chose not to stand up for the National Anthem at Super Bowl LIV ... even with Jay being a big partner of the league now. The Carters were sitting together a few rows back from the field, and they clearly didn't make an effort to get up during Demi Lovato's performance. A guy who appears to be a bodyguard of theirs was standing though, as was pretty much everyone else around them. DJ Khaled came by afterward and said hi to the fam ... then dabbed up the security guard. Everyone seemed to be in a pretty good mood,

Former Secretary of State John Kerry was reportedly overheard in a hotel restaurant Sunday warning of the very real "possibility of Bernie Sanders taking down the Democratic Party -- down whole," according to an NBC News report that sent shockwaves through an already-fractured liberal constituency bracing for a potentially historic Sanders win in Monday's pivotal Iowa caucuses. Kerry, in the Renaissance Savery Hotel in Des Moines, Iowa, on the eve of the caucus vote, also reportedly remarked that "maybe I'm f***ing deluding myself here," but that he could conceivably launch a run for president now that donors "have the reality of Bernie" surging in the polls.

For a number of years in the 20-aughts, I worked in Wuhan, Hubei Province, People’s Republic of China. China being China, and Wuhan being a provincial outpost of old China, an amalgamation of three towns incorporated under the one name, observations of life there then might be of interest now, given the tumult over the mushrooming conflagration of the coronavirus. Because I lived on the outskirts of town, near a squealing pig farm, many buffalo in the fields, goats occasioning the streets, wild dogs inoffensively wandering about most of the open-air eateries not presumptuous enough to call themselves restaurants -- a few plastic chairs and unwashed PVC tables
