"The Brooklyn gunfire that killed a young tourist from Indiana this weekend came out of nowhere, a witness told The Post on Sunday. Ethan Williams, 20, was sitting with four of his friends on a stoop outside their Bushwick Airbnb around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when shots broke out across the street and struck him in the chest with “no warning,” his pal Jacob Mayhew told The Post on Sunday.
“Some guy next to that mailbox just started shooting!” he said.'

There once was a man named Toobin, Whose main delight was in Zoomin’,
As he wiped off his screen, After makin’ a scene, He asked, “How did you like my oozin’?” The New Yorker has or had a “legal analyst” named Jeffrey Toobin. He was a participant in a recent Zoom videocall with several other people. The conversation evidently didn’t interest him. He pulled his pants down and found something that did. A lot. The object of Toobin’s intense interest proved less interesting to the other participants on the videocall. The New Yorker has suspended him. Which surely is a violation of some sort of special protection to which he’s entitled.

President Trump was discharged from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and returned to the White House on Monday evening to continue his fight against the novel coronavirus, after his medical team warned that he “may not entirely be out of the woods yet.” Dressed in a navy suit and tie and wearing a face mask, Trump walked out of Walter Reed on his own. Upon walking out the doors of the hospital, he made a low fist pump and gave a thumbs up to the press as he got into a black SUV to head to Marine One.

The Food and Drug Administration gave emergency approval to a COVID-19 antibody test that boasts near-perfect accuracy, the company said Sunday. Swiss drugmaker Roche said the new test, which determines whether someone had a past infection, has proven 100% accurate at detecting antibodies in the blood and 99.8% accurate at ruling out the presence of them. The company said the test requires intravenous blood draws, with higher accuracy than finger-prick tests.

Seriously sick coronavirus patients in New York state’s largest hospital system are being given massive doses of vitamin C — based on promising reports that it’s helped people in hard-hit China, The Post has learned. Dr. Andrew G. Weber, a pulmonologist and critical-care specialist affiliated with two Northwell Health facilities on Long Island, said his intensive-care patients with the coronavirus immediately receive 1,500 milligrams of intravenous vitamin C. Identical amounts of the powerful antioxidant are then re-administered three or four times a day, he said.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., became the first U.S. senator to test positive for the coronavirus Sunday and will remain in quarantine, his staff announced. The senator entered into quarantine in Kentucky and was continuing to work, while staffers in Paul’s Washington, D.C., office have been working remotely for the past 10 days, Fox News has learned. A spokesman for Paul confirmed that the senator had been at the Senate gym Sunday morning before learning of his diagnosis and leaving for Kentucky; Sen. Jerry Moran of Kansas said he saw Paul at the gym and kept a safe distance.

Weeks, possibly months, of enforced home-dwelling stretch ahead of us. For some, this may seem a wonderful opportunity to enjoy cosy family time — heart-to-heart chats, cupcake-making, board games...But for many, especially those who live alone, it’s a terrifying prospect to have no contact with the outside world. My mother is 87 and lives 100 miles away in sheltered accommodation. My brother is nearby and visits weekly, but still I worry that she might become isolated. Yet I don’t feel I can take my kids up to see her for fear of putting her in danger.

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's campaign for president was doomed from the get-go. Not only did he jump into the race later than the other 2020 Democratic candidates, but his campaign decided to skip the Iowa Caucuses, New Hampshire Primary, Nevada Caucuses and South Carolina Primary. Instead, Bloomberg's team made a conscious decision to focus on Super Tuesday, the day when the most delegates were up for grabs. Despite spending more than $500 million dollars on an aggressive ad campaign, the mayor's results were abysmal. He won American Samoa, which garnered a whopping five delegates. The remaining delegate from the territory went to Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI).

Taken to extremes, liberalism eats its own.
Exhibit A is the decline of one of the most prestigious and proudly liberal private schools in the city.Ethical Culture Fieldston in Riverdale, founded in 1878 by the son of a rabbi as a model for social justice, racial equality and intellectual freedom, now is convulsed by allegations of Antisemitism, racial discrimination lawsuits, quarrels over identity politics, a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Department run amok and a unionized faculty impervious to criticism. Disgruntled parents are considering ways of extracting their children, angry donors are closing their wallets and distraught teachers are resigning or taking leaves of absence.

Michael Bloomberg’s presidential campaign isn’t going as planned. He was a piñata in his first two debates and his decision to skip the four early states looks dicey as polls show him trailing in crucial Super Tuesday contests. Some of these headwinds were predictable, which is why Bloomberg hesitated to join the race. Until the moment he started running, he was telling friends there was no place for him in the Democratic Party. He may have been right, but Bloomberg was dead wrong in the way he tried to improve his odds.

Health officials in Washington state said on Saturday a coronavirus patient has died.
The death is the first from coronavirus illness COVID-19 in the United States. "It is a sad day in our state as we learn that a Washingtonian has died from COVID-19. Our hearts go out to his family and friends. We will continue to work toward a day where no one dies from this virus,” Washington Gov. Jay Inslee said in a statement. President Donald Trump said during a press conference Saturday afternoon the person who died was in their late 50s and was "medically high-risk."

Nice succinct roundup of various topics I hope Ldotters find interesting, including Buttigieg's diversity overreach, Bernie's association (and is that all?) with anti-Semites.
