Donald Trump signed the first animal cruelty bill of his presidency on Monday, outlawing narrow types of egregious violence usually committed for the purpose of videotaping them. The Senate unanimously passed the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act this month after a similar House vote in late October. It applies to non-human mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians, building on a 2010 law that criminalized the distributon of so-called 'crush' videos—footage meant to satisfy an unusual sexual fetish—by also outlawing the production of the films. Producing a crush video typically consists of filming a small animal

Pete Buttigieg has a problem. After jumping to a commanding position in Iowa and improving his chances in New Hampshire, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, is confronting the real possibility that his inability to win over black voters will thwart his rise and, in the worst-case scenario for Buttigieg, sink his campaign. (Snip) But months removed from those first admissions, Buttigieg's standing with black voters remains unchanged. A recent Quinnipiac University poll found him at 0% with black voters in South Carolina, and even some of his more devout supporters are starting to worry whether he can overcome this

A South Carolina state legislator has prefiled a bill that would prevent people younger than 18-years-old from undergoing so-called gender transitions.
The Youth Gender Reassignment Prevention Act prefiled by Republican Rep. Stewart Jones states that “A person under the age of eighteen years is prohibited from undergoing gender reassignment medical treatment in the State of South Carolina.”
The text of the bill further explains that “Gender reassignment medical treatment” means any health care to facilitate the transitioning of a patient's assigned gender identity to the gender identity experienced and defined by the patient.”

United States District Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on Monday ruled that White House counsel Dan McGahn must obey Congressional subpoenas and testify in front of House impeachment investigators. Other current and former White House officials defied subpoenas stemming from the Democrats' impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump's call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"This Court holds that Executive branch officials are not absolutely immune from compulsory congressional process—no matter how many times the Executive branch has asserted as much over the years—even if the President expressly directs such officials' non-compliance," Jackson wrote, according to NPR.
The ruling could impact other current and former administration officials

The tactic of protestors, specially those tied to Antifa and the climate change movement, blocking roadways is becoming more and more common. We saw some in Europe even try to hold up trains, leading to violent encounters.
Normal people with jobs and responsibilities are getting tired of it. Someone’s pet issue doesn’t change the fact that the clock has got to punched or the children have got to be picked up.
Yesterday, a video surfaced of an Antifa protestor trying to block an SUV. The protestor has some kind of weapon in his hand (which you’ll see later clearly) an is wearing a black mask and backup (the typical getup).
Then this happens.

On Monday morning, CNN and MSNBC missed an easy lay-up that would have reinforced their love for America and our military. Instead, they refused to carry live the public portion of a White House event honoring Conan, the Belgian Malinois dog who became famous for their heroism during the October 26 raid that killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. In CNN’s case, the Jeffrey Zucker-led network’s hatred for Trump led them to not even acknowledge that the event took place during Inside Politics and since then (as of this blog’s publication).

Lawmakers in South Carolina want to make it illegal for doctors to operate on or prescribe hormones and possibly even antidepressants to transgender children and teenagers, according to a bill proposed last week.
If signed into law, the bill would make any medical efforts toward gender reassignment impossible for anyone under 18.
The legislation even aims to outlaw drugs to treat 'symptoms of clinically significant distress resulting from gender dysphoria,' including depression or anxiety that arise from being assigned a gender at birth that doesn't match a young person's identity.

The court’s action signals that, even as Congress considers impeaching Trump, the court will undertake a more complete consideration of the legal powers of Congress and state prosecutors to investigate the president while he is in office.
The court instructed Trump’s lawyers to file a petition by Dec. 5 stating why the court should accept the case for full briefing and oral argument.

There is a very strong likelihood the documentary material that FBI Lawyer Kevin Clinesmith falsified was actual communication from Carter Page to the FBI where Page was seeking their help in 2017. This revelation would explain and reconcile two seemingly contrasting points:
Point one – The media have asserted, based on leaks from the principal reviews, the woods file manipulation by Clinesmith did not impact the validity of the original FISA application on October 21st, 2017.
Point two – The material Kevin Clinesmith did manipulate was so egregious and unethical, it stands as one of the most clear examples of corrupt FBI abuse of power in recent history.

The boys, ages 11 and 14, were shot outside Searles Elementary School in Union City, located about 30 miles southeast of San Francisco, Union City police said in a news release. Multiple residents called 911 and reported hearing gunshots around 1:30 a.m., the East Bay Times reported. Police arrived at the school and found the boys with gunshot wounds.

Excuses, excuses …Tesla CEO Elon Musk has spent the past few days tweeting explanations for the embarrassing rollout of the company’s new Cybertruck pickup last Thursday. During a demonstration of the triangular truck’s allegedly superstrong “Armor” windows, Tesla designer Franz von Holzhausen threw a metal ball at the front door window causing it to shatter, and did it again with the rear door window with the same result.(Photo) Musk laughed off the failed stunt by saying there was “room for improvement.”

Outgoing Energy Secretary Rick Perry, 69, said he told President Trump he’s “the chosen one.”
Perry said Trump is not perfect but, “God’s used imperfect people all through history.”
“King David wasn’t perfect. Saul wasn’t perfect. Solomon wasn’t perfect. I actually gave the president a little one-pager on those Old Testament kings about a month ago. I shared it with him. I said, ‘Mr. President, I know there are people that say, you know, you said you were the chosen one.’ And I said, ‘You were.’ If you’re a believing Christian, you understand God’s plan for the people who rule and judge over us on this planet in our government,”

During the Sunday broadcast of his “Life, Liberty & Levin” program on the Fox News Channel, host Mark Levin, author of “Unfreedom of the Press,” argued against the notion that impeachment can be “whatever the House of Representatives says it is.” Levin called that claim a “lie,” and pointed to the impeachment clause in the Constitution, which defines the term.“No president, in fact, nobody facing impeachment has ever in American history been treated this way,” Levin said. “Now let’s look at the impeachment clause. Gender transition can leave transgender people in a bit of a bind about their sexual desirability. While a transgender female may look, act, and feel masculine and exhibit male tendencies, she is just as female as any other female. If she is interested in either gay men or straight women, she could find herself perpetually attracted to individuals who are not going to be interested in her simply because of her vagina.
The same holds true for transgender men who have retained their penises. If they are into lesbian women or straight men, those two demographics will most likely be turned off by their body parts.

Comedy Central host Roy Wood Jr. sat down with a panel of African-American voters to get their take on what black voters want in a presidential candidate, and their responses seemed to surprise him.
The similarity among the six African-American voters he sat down with in Atlanta last week is that they voted for President Obama in 2012, with the exception of one who was too young at the time.
“Which candidate do you think best understands the needs of the black voter?” he asked.

President Donald Trump released a statement on Sunday about the firing of Navy Secretary Richard Spencer over the way he handled the case of Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher, saying that Spencer was terminated because matters “were not addressed” to the president’s satisfaction.
“I was not pleased with the way that Navy Seal Eddie Gallagher’s trial was handled by the Navy. He was treated very badly but, despite this, was completely exonerated on all major charges,” Trump tweeted. “I then restored Eddie’s rank. Likewise, large cost overruns from past administration’s contracting procedures were not addressed to my satisfaction.

Democrats were on cloud nine when the closed-door impeachment inquiry began. Back then, Rep. Adam Schiff was lying to the American people about what the president said on his July 25 phone call to the president of Ukraine. House Democrats selectively called witnesses, selectively leaked testimony, and continued to fool independent voters into thinking the Democrats were actually hysterical for a good reason. The Soviet show trial really wasn't a good look for the Democrats, so the House voted on a bill that gave the process the false appearance of fairness while keeping the Democrats in full control of the narrative and substance of the impeachment inquiry.

One night during final exams at Harvard College, I complained to a friend over dinner that I had a fifteen-page paper due the next day and hadn’t started writing it yet. “Just bullshit,” he advised. “It’s the Harvard way.”
That advice came to mind as I tried to make sense of what South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg — a fellow Harvard graduate — told an interviewer recently about whether he would be willing to send troops to Mexico.
It seemed to me that he answered the question by saying everything — and also nothing. Classic Harvard bullshit:

Cue Peggy Lee. The theme song of the Democratic conflagration known as the Trump impeachment hearings is now “Is That All There Is?”
I remember when I was a very little girl, our house caught on fire…
I stood there shivering in my pajamas and watched the whole world go up in flames
And when it was all over I said to myself, is that all there is to a fire?
Is that all there is to an attempt to overthrow the president of the United States? Just a bunch of bureaucrats who felt overlooked? Because if there is more to it than that, I haven’t seen the evidence.

JEFFERSON, Ohio — Bonnie Smith no longer sets her alarm for 1:45 a.m. so she could head into town to make her heavenly pastries, cookies and cakes. It’s the only thing she doesn’t miss about her bakery, which she had to close last June.
“My eyesight was failing. I just couldn’t do it anymore, or at least until the doctors could figure out what was going on,” said Smith, who hopes that eye surgery will allow her to bake professionally in her home kitchen sometime next month.

One poll could be an outlier, but when two resected polls find the same outcome, it’s time to realize that, most likely, something serious is going on.
Rasmussen, whose own daily tracking poll revealed that 34% of black likely voters support President Trump, was initially cautious about interpreting that result, as this response to a tweet by Dineen Borelli shows:

Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi have managed to pull off a miracle with their impeachment gambit.
They’ve united Republicans around Donald Trump, a feat once thought impossible, and for which the president owes a great deal to Schiff’s dogged Republican counterpart Devin Nunes.
“There has never been so much unity and spirit in the Republican Party, as there is right now!” trumpeted Trump on twitter Friday.
As support for the president edges up nationally and, notably, in the battleground state of Wisconsin, where 94 percent of Republicans oppose impeachment, he has been gifted a remarkable campaign advantage by his opponents.

But with that higher profile comes concerns from some Republicans that her shift toward becoming a highly visible Trump ally could make her a bigger target for Democrats in 2020.
Stefanik, the lone GOP woman on the House Intelligence Committee, was featured prominently during the public impeachment hearings over the past two weeks. She clashed with Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) in an early exchange that became a rallying cry for conservatives,

New public opinion polls are moving against Democrats on impeachment as independents sour on the House inquiry and increasingly express opposition to the hearings that have consumed Washington in recent weeks.
The new data comes as a surprise to Democrats, many of whom believe witnesses have offered damning testimony about President Trump’s dealings with Ukraine.
Witnesses have testified that Trump pressed Ukraine’s leaders to conduct investigations of the energy company Burisma Holdings — which was seen as code for probes of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden, given the younger Biden’s work for the company as a board member.

A recent essay of mine on the impeachment farce for the Claremont Review of Books was, by the time it was finished and published, somewhat “OBE” (“overtaken by events,” as we current and former Washington bureaucrats say).
But only somewhat. In a way, the wages of print delay have been helpful in illustrating a larger point. The underlying “substance” of impeachment has scarcely changed since I began drafting the earlier article in late October. But the “rationale” seems to change day-to-day, sometimes even hour-to-hour—in part, precisely because the substance has not.

Trump’s approval rating is tied with what President Barack Obama’s was at the same point in his first term. And the economy keeps chugging along. Wasn’t Trump supposed to be packing his bags by now?
Start with the impeachment polls. Whatever hopes Democrats had of removing Trump from office, or even significantly damaging his reelection hopes, appear to be fading – a fact even the mainstream media is having to admit.

Neither the NeverTrump Right nor the Progressive Left has yet offered a coherent defense of their de facto, three-year-long singular effort to delegitimize and ultimately remove Trump from office before the 2020 election.
We are now in the midst of a systematic effort to impeach a president on the basis of a thought crime. Trump’s purported quid pro quo sin was issuing a temporary hold on military assistance to Ukraine that supposedly transcended legitimate worries about rampant corruption—to include specifically investigating the suspicious behavior of a corrupt Ukrainian oil company and the compromised relationship of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son around it.

Pope Francis, who was widely reported to have been chosen for the highest office in the Catholic Church as a means of reinvigorating participation among Latinos, isn't quite working out the way they thought he would. He was supposed to be the people's pope, with "the smell of the sheep" on him as he put it. But all he's managed to do is become an advocate for the phony claims of socialism. That may be the problem.
Here's the item from the Buenos Aires Herald, citing a TIME/AFP piece:

Effective immediately, Chick-Fil-A will no longer be dispensing charitable funds towards organizations of a distinctly Christian character who oppose homosexual marriage such as the Salvation Army or the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This was the sort of rupture that the left has sought from Chick-Fil-A for years.

Black and Hispanic Democrats tend to be far more religious than the white Democrats who are driving the party’s agenda. Will this alliance hold as the party increasingly kowtows to vocal anti-Christian Marxists? Will these voters start to defect as Democrats intensify their open war on people of faith?
These questions arose this week when the sad story emerged that Chick-fil-A would no longer support three mainstream Christian-based charities; the Salvation Army, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Paul

The anti-establishment reverberations from almost six months of street protests swept through polling stations across Hong Kong on Sunday, as voters in record numbers roundly rejected pro-Beijing candidates in favor of pan-democrats. The tsunami of disaffection among voters was clear across the board, as pan-democrats rode the wave to win big in poor and rich neighborhoods, in both protest-prone and non protest-afflicted districts and, in downtown areas as well as the suburbs. Less immediately obvious was whether there was a generational divide in the way the people voted, but ousted pro-establishment district councilors suggested that young, first-time voters had been instrumental in dislodging them from their perch.

Mark this day on your calendar because here is the moment that I admit that Barack Obama did something right. He fired Army General Stanley McChrystal.
Now, I would have fired him well before for failing to win the Afghanistan War. In World War II, which America incidentally won, we fired lots of generals and admirals for failing to win. It was nothing personal. You aren’t winning, so “Next!” Obama did (gently) fire McChrystal’s predecessor for failing to win; he was a good officer who, by coincidence, was literally onstage talking to my Army War College class the moment Obama’s firing of McChrystal was announced.

The House impeachment investigation into President Trump is soon heading back to the Judiciary Committee, where partisan bickering and theatrics during public hearings last summer prompted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to shift the investigation to the House Intelligence Committee.
The Intelligence panel appears to have wrapped up a series of public hearings. No new hearings or depositions have been scheduled.
Under an Oct. 31 resolution passed by Democrats, the matter is supposed to fall back to the Judiciary Committee, which will hold its own hearings and draft articles of impeachment against Trump.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Officials say 42 people were charged with disorderly conduct after a protest interrupted a Saturday football game between archrivals Harvard and Yale.
Students and alumni from both schools occupied the midfield of the Yale Bowl during Saturday’s halftime protest. Some held banners urging their colleges to act on climate change. Other signs referred to Puerto Rican debt relief and China’s treatment of Uighurs.
Most protesters walked off after about an hour; those who remained were charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct. They were issued a court summons and released, according to a statement from Yale University.

Why did President Trump release aid to Ukraine on Sept. 11 after holding it up for 55 days? Democrats and Republicans have been fighting over the answer throughout the impeachment debate.
Democrats and their allies in the media contend Trump freed up the aid only after the White House learned that a whistleblower had filed a complaint against the president. "The reason the aid was produced was that the whistleblower had come forward at that point," CNN's Jeffrey Toobin said Tuesday. "Basically, the Trump administration was busted. They got caught, and that's the reason they released the money."

What began as a good week for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ended in his indictment for corruption. It is the first time that a sitting Israeli PM has been indicted.
Early in the week, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that America would no longer agree to the 2016 UN Security Council resolution (No. 2334) that said the Israeli settlements in the West Bank area were a flagrant violation of international law. That determination was utter nonsense. With the exception of the Geneva Conventions on the law of war, “international law” — especially as the UN uses that term — is nothing but politics.

That’s based on the simple reality that failing to do so at this point would cost Democrats more politically than proceeding with impeachment would. Voters who hate Trump would be furious and voters who like Trump wouldn’t give Pelosi and Schiff an ounce of credit for standing down in the end. The president would gloat about it every day unto eternity. Pelosi, long respected by both sides for her ability to whip votes, would be humiliated utterly.

Bizarre! On CNN Saturday, host Michael Smerconish recommended that a bunch of gossipers be named as Time magazine's "Person of the Year." The gossipers he had in mind were the diplomats who appeared at the House Impeachment Inquiry and testified based on second and third hand hearsay. So for the momentous act of removing a legally elected president of the United States from office based on hearsay, or gossip, Smerconish actually wants to honor such an act with
