Government sponsorship of violence against opponents or complacency in the face of incitement to violence is a powerful tool of political repression. Regimes such as Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, Nicaragua, China, and other tyrannies have used such tactics to great effect. When mobs attack anti-government demonstrators, for example, the police either disappear or stand by watching. In American cities run by Democrats and on the U.S. college and university campuses, the authorities increasingly have been standing by as radicals do the dirty work of beating up or silencing conservatives.
In societies riven by mutual hate, the people who control the police and public communications make all the difference.

The left has been fomenting hate, victimhood and division as their political viewpoint, their path to power for decades now.
They have just about split the country wide open.
At some point, people will have enough of this. Electing Trump was a turning point, a response to their deranged, criminal leftism. And they doubled down with the Enemedia assistance on the "Russian conspiracy" coup attempt by a large number of cooperating, criminal, traitorous DoJ, FBI and CIA leaders and operatives, with the assistance of foreign government intel operatives, apparently.
They are causing a slow burn in the "silent majority" who are long suffering, often distracted from the insanity of politic by their lives, raising children, working for a living, trying to have a life. But eventually, these people will no longer accept the left's violence and drumbeat of hate for being white, and for not paying enough 'reparations'.
I fear for our country, and I really hope and pray we can somehow muddle through this in a relatively peaceful way. Law enforcement must REALLY start taking out these antifa thugs and not let them run rampant like they have been permitting on the Left Coast. Even application of the laws is very important, including to the criminals inside the FBI, CIA and DoJ.

Article is right but fails to mention the closest similarity. Nazi Germany and Kristall Nacht. And its corollary - first they came for the Jews.

You will not have peace in this Country while one-half the Country despises the principals on which it is organized. There was a time when the Left championed Free Speech. That changed as soon as the Looney Left hit critical mass. So, no, this is not simply a question of tone. There is an irreconcilable difference.

Most definitely, this is a MUST READ. It ought to be sent to everyone in leadership in DC.
No-one in their right mind would ever want a civil war. Civil wars are the most vicious and atrocious of conflicts, I think because by the time the bloodletting begins, hatred has been stoked and prodded and nerves irritated so far beyond tolerable. Civil wars pit brother against brother, parents against children and vice versa.
We want it averted. We want men and women of wisdom to come forward. We want the instigators, whoever they are, to be defeated by the truth. We need men and women of good will, our fellow Citizens, to rise up and become the real bulwark of resistance against the sinister agents of usurpation.
Can it happen? I am less sanguine by the day because under BO the "fundamental transformation" was given a big boost by that leftist leadership, and those who had invested in it are furiously trying to recommence the work. Then Trump. Now the irrational, vulgar, raging Left.
The survival of our great Republic really is at stake.

Next Summer is going to be very interesting indeed, especially after the leftist and liberal Democrats figure out that President Trump is on his way to being re-elected!

Agree with other posters and echo the suggestion for Must Read status.
The left and their owners have been pushing for this for a long time. During the 1st Bush administration, when he was outlawing more guns with one pen stroke than any president in history, there were hushed conversations in my military unit as to whether or not we would take arms against Americans. More than half said they would take their rifle and all the ammo they could carry and join the patriots. Similar conversations were had during the Klinton years, for whatever any of that is worth.
It got far worse in the Obama years, when good people were demonized because of their whiteness, or maleness, or straightness, or whatever is normal. The hatred he pushed was unlike anything in my lifetime. Guns and ammunition flew off the shelves as fast as they were put out.
Now, whoever wants this civil war has stepped up their game into actual violence, perpetrated by the weakest among us. They have already imported their expendable foot soldiers from the south and are stepping up the attacks. I fear it is just a matter of a very short time.

For those who may not recall, Prof. Codevilla wrote the classic and brilliant "Country Class vs. Ruling Class" piece several years ago that (IIRC) appeared in the American Spectator. He made it quite clear that it is not and never was Democrat vs. Republican, but them vs. us. We now know, with the election of Donald Trump and the silent attempted coup that failed, who "them" and "we" are. We're the Country Class
That said, bring it. We'll will win if we have the will, they will lose. But it may very well get bloody. Either that, or we lose the country. No guarantees.
