Updated: President Trump on Friday abruptly dropped his plan to nominate Representative John Ratcliffe as the nation’s top intelligence official. Read the latest.
WASHINGTON — The White House is planning to block Sue Gordon, the nation’s No. 2 intelligence official, from rising to the role of acting director of national intelligence when Dan Coats steps down this month, according to people familiar with the Trump administration’s plans.
The decision to circumvent Ms. Gordon, who has served as the principal deputy director in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, will probably upset Republicans and Democrats in the Senate.

This should kill it for her if nothing else did. These are two corrupt dudes. Never mind the party letters after their names.
Those tweets prompted concern on Capitol Hill that Mr. Trump would circumvent Ms. Gordon. The next day, Senator Richard M. Burr, Republican of North Carolina, who leads the Senate Intelligence Committee, expressly referred to the fact that he looked forward to working with Ms. Gordon, calling her “a trusted partner.”
On Friday, Senator Mark Warner, Democrat of Virginia, who is the committee’s vice chairman, said that the law was “quite clear” that the acting role goes to the deputy when the director of national intelligence leaves and that Ms. Gordon had the Senate’s confidence. “It’s outrageous if the president is hoping to pass over this extremely qualified and experienced individual, the highest-ranking woman in O.D.N.I., in order to install a political loyalist as acting director,” he said.

Apparently part of the corrupt cabal in the Deep State. Rooting out these corrupt officials, with their claws deep into CIA, DoJ and FBI is going to be extremely difficult.

If Burr, Warner and the NY Times support Gordon and oppose Ratliff, then my decision is pretty clear.

Warner can drop dead.
It is the exective branch, Trump is the chief executive, he gets to decide how it runs, not Warner a scoundrel who is trying to damage the President and keep the Deep State criminals from being rooted out.

ODNI is a superfluous bureaucracy established to expand the deep state and to convince Americans our intel community would fix problems revealed by 9-11. Don't promote anyone or appoint a new director. Start scaling it back to the point where it withers on the vine. There are 17 agencies in the community and the whole thing needs to be drawn down and reorganized with some offices closed down all together. Start cutting their budgets to force the issue.

If you want to fix the 'deep state' aka traitors problem, send in the Marines with fixed bayonets and loaded mags, along with CAS and take no prisoners ROE.

Sounds like Trump is finally going to purge those Deep State people who are guilty of working against his Administration. I say fire her! Who cares what Richard Burr thinks! Trump should then appoint someone who does have Intelligence experience AND who will work the President, not against him! Then start cleaning out the FBI! It's time! If Trump wants to get anywhere, those people need to be gone. There are still too many of them who are working with outside people like Comey. The network needs to be broken down. Start with Swarmy Christopher Wray!

#7 - Would those be the same Marines as recently got caught in the human trafficking game along the border? Sorry, the military is no better or trustworthy than law enforcement and intel communities. Remember the Obama "purges" of flag officers? Doing so would definitely result in articles of impeachment, too.

It appears that the president could've avoided this Constitutionally dubious legal impediment to his ODNI plans by removing Gordon from her #2 position before telegraphing his plans on Twitter. Whether Gordon is a Schedule C political appointee or a career SES, she can be be removed from her position without cause. I bring up that distinction because so many Schedule C political appointees "nested" into career positions within the Senior Executive Service and the rules are different for getting rid of them in terms of firing them from government service. Any SES is subject to transfer at the whim of the Chief Executive. No different from when Obama canned the war fighting generals and admirals in place when he took office and replaced them with politically reliable diversity warriors.

I don't know how you can have a person in this position that is not loyal to the President. The President requires valid and accurate information to make decision and anyone with an ounce of partisanship should be immediately disqualified. Period.

According to the NYT article, Ratcliffe 'may' have over enhanced his qualifications, and members of Congress don't believe ha has enough intelligence experience. Every member of Congress has overstated their qualifications for holding office. As for experience, they had no trouble idolizing a former community activist or the wife of an ex-president as their heroes! His actions in the hearings tells me all I need to know, and I think he'd be great!

Anything that upsets both Republicans and Democrats in the Senate or anywhere else is a good thing. I think PDT shifted into third gear once the Mueller report came out; he's on fire!

#7, a Day of the Condor "cleanup in the head office"?
A bit harsh. I'd settle for the appropriate folks in prison and a bunch more fired.

If Trump nominated Eric Holder as Director of DNI, the Senate vote would be 100-0 in favor. Congress is riddled with scoundrels.

Trump has several openings to fill. The house is gone for a month. Maybe this is a good time time for some recess appointments.

I read yesterday that Schiff For Brains and another lib, don't remember which one, supported Gordon. That means - don't use her.

The ideal candidate has
- no ties to the Obama KGB Gestapo
- a burning desire and the ability to clean out the entire labyrinth of domestic spying operations.
