Presidential candidates from both parties usually sound hard-core in the primaries to appeal to their progressive or conservative bases. But for the general election, the nominees move to the center to pick off swing voters and centrist independents.

I’m afraid that whoever is the last man standing is going to bank on massive voter fraud to get elected. How else do you explain the extreme socialism all of them are showing us without seeming concern about turning off the voters?

The distance between a true capitalist patriot like Trump and the gaggle of drooling communists offered up by the Dims may be enough to spark that long over-due civil war which we need.
The Left will not concede defeat and Trump's massive hordes of supporters will not go quietly.
We are installing new and improved turret mounted potato guns here at the compound just in case the slick hits the sand. One good russet to the mid-section is about all most commies can take before slouching back into momie's BMW and heading back to town.

They are all acting as if they know the election is in the bag! After the loss to President Trump they likely have worked the bugs out of the system and a Democrat win is guaranteed in 2020.

VDH goes on to explain how Obie used this concept - of not going too far left to allow a tack to the center - to win the general election in 2008:
A good example of this successful ploy was Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign. In the primary against Hillary Clinton, Obama ran to her left. But he was still careful not to get caught on the record going too far left. That way, he was still able to tack to the center against John McCain in the general election.
As a general election candidate, Obama rejected the idea of gay marriage. He blasted illegal immigration. He railed against deficit spending. And he went so far as to label then-President George W. Bush as “unpatriotic” for taking out “a credit card from the bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt.”
The result was that Obama was elected. After taking office, in cynical fashion he endorsed gay marriage, ran up far more red ink than did Bush, offered blanket amnesties and relaxed immigration enforcement.

People have an amazing capacity for self deception. That's partly why so many business startups fail. The people who launch them are CONVINCED they have a product that people will want to buy. The function of banks and other lenders is to ask hard questions and make them think about possible problems. In the end however, it's the owner who has responsibility.
Consider the Leftist politician who lives in an echo chamber. He is confident his product resonates with the public. Everyone he speaks to tells him so. He goes on "The View" and all the ladies pat him on the back. The media is SUPPOSED to be the voice of the public and ask hard questions. But today's propaganda media despises the public and might as well be on the Leftist candidate's payroll. There is NO pushback on their ambitions from the media.
Also, who/where do candidates campaign? Teachers unions, liberal cities, Black groups, youth groups, Hollyweird fundraisers, etc. Safe spaces where nary a voice is raised in opposition. In fact, people in those spaces urge them ever Leftward.
The classic campaign in the primaries to the Left and to the middle in the general election assumes the campaign sees a NEED to do so. When you are convinced the Country has shifted Left from all who surround you, why shift to the middle?
And there is a further complication. 20 smurfs got on stage to "debate". NONE of them are in the middle. Some of them are hanging of the edge of the Left side of the political spectrum. THIS is the dem party. They are ALL Leftists. The pull they feel is from the Left. They don't care about the the American People. They care about illegal immigrants. They don't care about the 90+% of the people who have good healthcare. They care about the fringes and are willing to rip apart a mostly successful system to satisfy the fringe. They don't care about the hard working Americans who are trying to be self sufficient and successful. They want to take their money to pander to numerous Leftist causes to buy votes.
ALL the dems on the debate stage are focused in the weeds. The party is focused in the weeds. No matter who wins their primary, they are NOT focused on America, no matter what their candidate says. This is the party that is obsessed with impeaching Trump to the detriment of all else and in spite of some of their leadership to break their destructive tendencies. The Left REFUSES to be steered to a safe passage.
THAT is what needs to be remembered. The dem party is dysfunctionally mired on the Left bank. THAT is who and what they are.

There is another factor. Both McCain and Romney were spineless weenies who could (and were) cowed by accusations of racism or ridicule (Birther! Birther!!) if they opposed or exposed the Kenyan's positions. These Democrats are somehow counting on being able to do the same. It will be their biggest mistake.
