ANCHORAGE, Alaska- A federal judge in Alaska has overturned U.S. President Donald Trump’s attempt to open vast areas of the Arctic and Atlantic oceans to oil and gas leasing. The decision issued late Friday by U.S. District Court Judge Sharon Gleason leaves intact President Barack Obama’s policies putting the Arctic’s Chukchi Sea, part of the Arctic’s Beaufort Sea and a large swath of Atlantic Ocean off the U.S. East Coast off-limits to oil leasing. Trump´s attempt to undo Obama’s protections was “unlawful” and a violation of the federal Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, Gleason ruled. Presidents have the power under that

And Trump and the oil companies should just ignore her.
How many troops does a District Judge command? I forget. How many tanks, field artillery pieces and combat aircraft can she field?

President Trump would better serve the country by eliminating the ethanol mandate for gasoline than trying to open remote areas of Alaska to incredibly expensive oil exploration. Corn should be eaten, not burned by our cars. Unfortunately, Trump is increasing ethanol percentage to 15% and mandating it year round.
Midwest flooding is also going to raise to price of corn used for ethanol and possibly create gasoline shortages, highlighting the madness of trying to buy votes in Iowa and Nebraska and contributions from ethanol producers.

At what point do we, as patriotic Americans, start to openly ignore these democrat communist judges who openly defy our Constitution and are attempting, sometimes successfully, to deprive us of our basic rights and liberties as enumerated on the Constitution.
If we had a true Republic, this sham communist judge would be swiftly impeached and removed, put on trial as a traitor, and send to prison - for life.
To restore the rule of constitutional law over our Republic, the judicial system needs to be ruthlessly purged of the communists.
Traitors all.

Trump should ignore her. There is precedence - Smidgen banned deep water drilling in the Gulf of Mexico after the big oil spill in 2009. A judge overturned the ban but Smidgen ignored the judge and, as far as I know, that ban is still in place.

Replace life-time appointments of district judges with 6 year terms with a retention vote. Additionally, Congress should restrict the coverage of district judge decisions to their district unless confirmed by the appellate court and US Supreme Court.

Mr. Trump should simply say he´s overturning the judge and do it anyway.

This is obvious BS. Obama can take away anything but Trump can´t reverse his predecessor´s executive orders?
Patent nonsense.
This will get overturned, as usual.

If Trump does nothing else than overcome every liberal judiciary majority on all the US Circuit courts it will be a truly great accomplishment. I´ve had enough of these Obama lick-spittles taking national policy into their unelected hands. The topper for me was the judge in Hawaii stopping Trump´s immigration ban because of the harm it did Hawaii!

How can one President, named Obama, issue a permanent Executive Order that no future President, in this case named Trump, can modify, or cancel?
That’s not the way it has been, even with Congressional legislation that has passed into law, as a future Congress can always change such a law by simply passing new legislation, and that is essentially what Trump did with Obama’s Executive Order when he superseded that Executive Order with a new Executive Order.
No doubt another District Court ruling that will end up before the Supreme Court.

Leftist judges are desperately trying to slam the brakes on Trump´s agenda. The issue ends up in the SCOTUS and Trump usually wins.
What happens when a lower court continually rules badly? Does anyone have a "talk" with them?
Hopefully Trump will get enough lower court justices appointed by the end of second term that this will no longer be a problem.
