Attorneys for Empire actor Jussie Smollett announced Tuesday morning that charges alleging he filed a false report with Chicago police regarding a hate crime against himself have been dropped. Smollett attorneys Tina Glandian and Patricia Brown Holmes said in a statement that the actor’s record “has been wiped clean.” Smollett was indicted on 16 felony counts related to making a false report that he was attacked by two men who shouted racial and homophobic slurs in downtown Chicago on January 29. Police and prosecutors have said the black and gay actor falsely reported to authorities

The “man” lied to the FBI, which according to Herr Mueller and Michael Flynn is still a crime. Mail fraud and that should score jail time for Bathhouse Jussie.

I smell the odor of the obamas all over this one.
It´s ok, I just hope he goes away and I never hear of him again.

Yes as OP stated, the mail fraud charges could still come into play and that would carry some very hefty penalties indeed. Remember that he not only sent himself hoax hate letters but he included crushed up Tylenol with them, which is a terroristic act/threat.
I hope to see him pursued to the fullest extent of the law for this. I wouldn´t be so smug just yet, Juicy Smallet.
Nevertheless, the charges being dropped in the Chicago case represents Politically connected, liberal, black, gay, actor privilege in full swing.

You knew this was coming as soon as Michelle Obama´s attorney got involved, the case got shifted to the FBI, and the Smollett team saw this as a ´major victory´.

Michael Flynn should have hired Smollett´s attorneys.
He may not be guilty but we know he did it, and he´ll go through life with that asterisk by his name. Just like OJ.
He thinks he´s bullet proof, but Give him time....he will do something else stupid.

He sent Lynch and Comey to rescue the Beast. Now his goons descended on Chicago authorities for Smollett, a fellow black homosexual. The two tiered ´Kenyan´ system of justice is alive and well. There will be no peace, no national reconciliation until all these rogues are behind bars - permanently!

I am watching Fox News right now and just heard the comments of the police chief and Mayor Rahm Emmanuel. And for one, I agree with Rahm Emmanuel. He is standing behind the hard work of his police force. He understands that future claims of true victims of hate crimes will not be believed. He is pointing out the double standards of people in positions of influence and celebrity status vs. ordinary citizens. If I am agreeing with Rahm Emmanuel, then I believe the dropping of charges against Smollett will not bode well in Chicago or in this country. Chicago authorities have been blind sided by the outcome of this case.

Barnburner presser in progress. CPD superintendent. Now Rahm Emanuel. Ripping Jussie Smollett and his "white wash", the deal that was made, no accountability. “Turning the hate crime laws upside down and inside out for his own advantage.” Emanuel was brilliant. I didn’t know he had it in him.
They didn’t know that this was coming. The charges being dropped. Their reaction is rightly being described as “visceral”...

As there seems to be no white folk among the principals involved, this could be exactly what a caller on Rush today suggested - pure racism. The DA is black, the police Chief is black, and everyone involved in this fiasco is black.
As #13 says - no white privilege here.

Further proof of the hard fact that the justice system in this country has two tiers. One for celebrities, leftists, politicians, and the wealthy, where you get minimal interference with your criminality, and then the normal one for the rest of us, where they hammer you flat if you step out of line.

If you lie about being the victim of a racist attack and then have all the false reports charges dropped, shouldn´t you become the victim of a racist attack to restore balance to the universe? This is only a hypothetical question, not a call to violence against anyone.

Tina Tchen (sp?), former COS for Moochelle, called SA Foxx saying she was friend of Smollett family and asking for favor, the granting of which she was immediately able to convey back to Smollett family.

Too vague. Wouldn´t a Court have to approve the sealing of police records? If so, who was the Judge and what hearing was conducted?
Ditto for a $10,000 bail; bail is up to a Judge. If it is forfeited what Court received those $$? Why would a, supposedly, innocent man forfeit $10K.
What Community Service?
In the other 56 states I would expect the State Attorney General to investigate. But Illinois may not work that way. In fact the USA may not work that way now.
Will the Brothers now be prosecuted for buying rope. And the hardware store for selling it?

This is the system and the systematic power the obama´s acccumulated with the help of the press as Michelle has coyly said.(and foreign governments such as Indonesia (?)
This is the raw power and corruption that obama and this movement left in place for Hillary to continue to wield and shield.
This is the power of precedence that the leftist dems and the GOPe businessmen party holder-ons fear for our GOP president to have and use.
There is a Haiku in there somewhere.

#22, this is not on the police. The chief was livid on TV today. This is 100% on the black prosecutor.
I really hope she gets pushed hard enough on this to have it redone, however that happens.

I think Foxx is working with the Dems and wants the FBI to take over so the Democrats can blame the prosecution on Trump or at the very least his AG.

The good former prosecutor (not like Judge Nap) on Harris Faulkner just said this may have been due to the police chief’s coming on too strong against Smollett in press conferences.
He also reminded that the federal mail charge on the threatening letter is still “in play”.
