The terrorist attack at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, that left more than 49 people dead and scores of others wounded has evoked a lot of emotion and debate in the United States about how government can effectively reduce the amount of gun violence in schools and places of worship. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., helped to spark the discussion when, in the immediate wake of the attack, she wrote to her 3.5 million Twitter followers, "What good are your thoughts & prayers when they don´t even keep the pews safe?" She clarified the tweet by writing, "´Thoughts and prayers´

It seems to me that the vast majority of mass shooters have either been on law enforcements radar in the past or someone around them suspects they may do something. Many of them are over the edge mentally ill. Our problem is human behavior not guns. A gun is an inanimate object and can not do anything without a human behind it.
Was this really a terrorist attack or a one off nut job mass shooting?

As usual, the ability of NZ elites to have armed protection is well preserved in their laws. Ya always gotta protect the big shots. The little guy-not so much.

#3,AOC is a semiliterate oaf. The most intelligent part of her body about three feet away from her mouth! Typical product of our ´educational´ system. What did you expect.

Gooberment employees (elected or otherwise) will never recognize that it is people who kill other people. The method they use will vary only by what is most easily available. Britain is the latest example of guns not being easy to obtain, so knives are used. I have never seen a lone gun out on the street shooting people. Guns are always attached to a human.

Pointless and uninformative article. Chicago has some of the tightest gun control in the world yet we read about the weekly gang wars that end in childrens´ deaths. You can not physically prevent lunatics from obtaining firearms, especially if you can not prevent criminals from entering your country at will.
The only effective solution is to identify potential lunatics before they reach killing age but some of them have learned to hide it well and society dictates that they not be formally identified. Embarrassment for the family you know. No method is foolproof as we have seen so often by the failure of the TSA to discover many weapons and we give them very expensive detection equipment. The 2nd Amendment and the right for the average citizen to carry a weapon is the best way to ensure a fighting chance when a lunatic decides to go off the deep end.
The God-given right to freedom and self defense outweighs all laws. Don´t mess with it. AOC and other government drones are welcome to give up their SS protection at any time if they don´t like weapons.

As we have seen for years, the left will make any event an excuse to attack gun ownership. There is no sense trying to understand their logic or reasoning- there isn´t any. They are just emotionally attached to gun control and reason or critical thinking does not enter the picture.

Restrictive gun laws won´t save lives. Guns do not go out and kill people anymore than a fork and spoon make people obese. Stupid arguments like Cortez contends won´t save one life. Stop abortions that´s worse than one mass public murder. The left loves to kill babies but gets appalled when a mentally unstable person acts out with violence against a certain group of people. Three thousand or more of innocent working American people were killed with box cutters and jet planes flown into buildings and not one gun was involved.
Go weep and tweet all you want, Cortez, I´m not interested in all your daily blather.

I didn´t have to read it to know it was a pointless and uninformative article, headline says it all (and a quick word search verified it.)
IT´S NOT THE LAWS you need to compare, its the CONSTITUTION, STUPID!

They know laws won´t work. At least the leaders do. The gullible, willing sycophants will just parrot the leadership, with feeling.
Their goal is 100% banning, confiscation, "Mr. and Mrs. America, turn ´em all in.". So they pass law after law, demanding one thing after another, and attacks will just continue. So, when it is obvious that laws will NEVER stop the attacks, they´ll turn to the case that ONLY full confiscation can possibly work.
Of course that won´t either, but they´ll get many law-abiding people to turn their´s in. That´s the end goal, to enable the final stage of socialism. Cramming down their dictates by force, upon a populace no longer able to effectively resist.

And STILL no mention of the Christians murdered in Nigeria by Muslim jihadists who have been going village to village for the past three weeks seeking Christians to kill. 120 Muslim-murdered Christians and counting.

I have thought about this scenario for some time but still come to the same conclusion. I can think of nothing that could stop a person from causing bodily harm to another individual. A gun is just handy but not required to get the job done. Remove guns and they´ll get a knife, been proven. Get a car and mow down ennocent bystanders, that´s been proven. One could go on ad nauseum but if a motivated individual is bent on destruction it will happen. We had some measure of control over those unstable, but some decided it wasn´t fair and did away with them. It´s once again choice time. Develope safety mechanisms again to regain civil control or coexist with the maniacs. Remember though repeating a behavior expecting a different outcome....

#12, a couple of malotov cocktails tossed in would have likely done more, one at each entrance.
Guns are convenient and strike at a distance, but terrorists have many other options.
