Are rich people fleeing California to escape astronomical state income taxes? That’s the word. But it’s fake news. In fact, more wealthy people are moving to California than leaving, research indicates. It’s the poor and middle class who are departing. It makes sense. If you’re getting rich in California and can afford to live comfortably here in this balmy climate, there’s little incentive to leave — except to stick it to the tax collector in Sacramento.
Poop on the streets of Los Angeles and San Francisco is not an incentive to move?

Only the rich can afford to live there. The middle class isn´t needed. Caliscrewup only needs the money from the rich, and the illegals to do the dirty jobs.

The rich live in gated communities.
But they don´t want to protect the rest of the people.
Pretty soon even their markets and entertainment venues will have to be inside their own gates as leaving to drive in the real world will be problematic.
I recall how, during the Rodney King riots, tree branches were used as makeshift roadblocks so rioters had more of a chance to loot and beat drivers.

Fake News, the rich go to visit Kalifornia, not live there.
Middle income families are leaving as quickly as possible. Many have business there, so they can´t move. If all the middle income earners could leave, there would be no more OPM in the state in 10 years.

So it boils down to the Hollywood types, techies, the homeless and the illegal aliens. Nice. Remind me to never go there.

The "rich" moving to California do so for positions with highly inflated salaries, in some cases twice what they would make elsewhere. I guess ten percent local taxes aren´t so bad when you receive paychecks like they do. I don´t suppose they realize who is going to pay the debt when living high on the hog catches up to them. Small homes costing half a million bucks are certainly not worth it to me. All that and mudslides, wildfires, droughts and earthquakes to keep things exciting. Yeah, there´s the beaches.

FTA:significantly more people earning above $125,000 were moving into California than were leaving. And more earning less than $75,000 were taking off.
Flawed reasoning. Businesses have to pay employees over $125K to entice them to move to CA. A salary of $75K is pretty good in most states, and those people are fleeing CA. Eventually some tech company will say ´´Iowa isn´t so bad after all´´, and all those high salaried employees will be moved elsewhere.

Well, Bryce Harper isn´t one of them. The story is that he wanted to sign with the Dodgers, Angels, or Padres to be near his Vegas roots. Doing so, though, would have cost him $55 million in additional state income taxes over the life of his contract. Who would have thought that working in Philadelphia would be such an attractive option?

Eventually a point with be reached and even the wealthy will start leaving. Left will be the mega rich, the illegals and the poor. The top one percent will have to pay almost 100 percent of the state ‘ s revenue. The gated communities will have be turned into armed compounds with SWAT type security guards patrolling the perimeter. Those billionaires will not be able to travel without a seal team to accompany their armored limousine. Make me a billionaire and I still won’t move to California.

People are free to move anywhere they want, or away from anywhere they want.
I am free to avoid that horrible place at all costs. Last time I was there was 1971. That was way too recent.

If you are rich enough you can afford to insulate yourself mostly from the insanity and enjoy the nice weather.

I bet there´s a top secret bill that was passed and signed by Brown which gives the new arriving rich huge tax benefits to move to the state. Otherwise, they wouldn´t come.

Soon there will be 3 classes of folks in California. Super Rich Leftists, welfare recipients and illegal immigrants who work for the Super Rich Leftists and are paid nearly slave wages under the table.
