Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is considering granting free-spending establishment Republicans and Democrats one of the top items on their wish list.[Snip]Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK), Johnson’s handpicked choice to take over the House Appropriations Committee after Rep. Kay Granger’s (R-TX) resignation in March, wants to “unlock the possibility of more earmarks,” Politico reports. The outlet says Cole wants to expand the use of earmarks, specifically in the massive Labor-HHS-Education funding bill — the largest non-defense funding bill — a move that could unlock hundreds of millions in earmarks.

Like so many "conservatives" in DC, clearly just playing a part, not any sort of a real believer. How many "conservative commentators" turned out to be fakes when outed by Trump being actually committed to freedom and against the deep state criminal?
Easily more than dozen.
How many more "conservative" Congresscrittersd are fakers playing a part until needed to stab us in the back?

They either have something really big on him or they are paying him a boatload of money. In any case, he is compromised and needs to go.

Hey Mike, you do realize that our country is broke, correct? Every time you print off another sheet of 100 dollar bills, you reduce our spending power. Do you care?

I want to know who pushed this little traitor forward. Mike Johnson was practically an unknown and out of the blue becomes Speaker. He then proceeds to give Biden and dems everything they want? And apparently, he is not done yet. As with every other aspect of our government, something is very fishy about this.

Like pigs at a slop trough. My hunch that Johnson is a RINO is now validated. Just give the speakership to that numbnutted Hakeem "the Scheme" Jeffries.

Earmarks = Pork projects
Once those kinds of things were to barter and get 'markers' for votes for legislation down the road.
Now, with what BJ Clinton used to call "the politics of personal destruction" those in Congress are brought to heel by looking for corruption or creating comprised Pols to GO AGAINST what they publicly state but have private skeletons that makes them 'play the game' for risk of disclosure.
The Speaker has been compromised to go along with the Ukraine blackmail bill and has so many embarassing and political krytonite in his background that he can never be effective, despite high hopes that he wasn't a RINO sell out.

Ladies and Gentlemen, MAGA Mike Johnson!
According to Miss Lindsey and Trump himself, that Ukraine bill doesn't pass without the big guys support.
THIS is why I come on here and drag Trump. MY values haven't changed for one lousy guy. I demand better from those who want my vote. If they don't, I find a new guy and NEVER look back.
The Kabuki clown show that is the Washington Generals fake opposition in DC is now LED by DJT. You may not like to hear it but, that doesn't change the facts. You can wring hands about a deep state conspiracy to take out the one man who will save us all (who just so happened to put out the guidelines that locked you in your homes, put poison in your veins and spent trillions we didn't have) or you realize you better get vocal and DEMAND your politicians do better.

And just to tell the truth, knowing it will disagree with so many here.....I strongly support the USA funding a lot of Ukraine's weapons and ammo.
Our country would NOT exist without a lot of French weapons, powder and ultimately TROOPS and SHIPS.
Marquis de Lafayette brought about 5,000 soldiers, Compte de Grasse brought a battle fleet at the crucial time to bottle up Cornwallis on the Yorktown peninsula, and Compte de Rochambeau brought 30,000 troops and fought directly alongside General Washington.
England in WW2 was given billions and billions of ships, aircraft, artillery, tanks, halftracks, rifles and ammo.
It was called "Lend-Lease" but that was a fiction, they never repaid the majority of the "loans". But who thinks that letting Nazi Germany run all of Europe would have been better?
I see this Russian invasion of Ukraine as just like the Nazi invasion of Poland....step one in conquest of Europe. And if Hitler had been stopped in Poland, the war in Europe would have stopped there, not expanded to the entire continent, and wind up strengthening Russia and having them control all of eastern Europe for half a century.
So, whine away....but in historic terms supporting Ukraine is absolutely the RIGHT and MORAL thing to be doing. And even Europe is being shocked into awareness with historically neutral Sweden joining NATO and Finland, too. Those countries closest see things more clearly. And yes, Finland and Sweden are helping out Ukriane a lot, as are the other European powers. But remember that Finland is the size of Arizona, and while Sweden is the SIZE of California, it has the population of North Carolina. And the other individual European countries have similarly "state sized" populations and land area.
I am very disappointed how many "MAGA" folks think that MAGA means an entirely insular USA. We still have to live on this planet and China, Russia and others are still using force and economic power to try to control as much of the world as possible. If we entirely pull in and do nothing beyond our shores....we will be ultimately isolated in a sea of unfriendly nations. We don't need to be the world's policeman, for certain, but we do have overseas interests, and we damned well better have overseas allies.

Earmarks are a way to ensure that the Executive Branch spends money that is both Congressionally authorized and appropriated for a given activity and not re-allocated to other interests. They can be misused but were also used when America was being made great the first time. It is the abuse of earmarks that is egregious. The recent ten year moratorium on earmarks was ended by democrats in 2021, under Speaker Pelosi. Earmarks can box in a rogue president, like Biden, who can't seem to send money to Iran, Hamas, and the criminal invaders of our country fast enough. It is when earmarks are used for pork spending of a particular state, like Byrd's West Virginia, that things go off the rails. Earmarks to construct/complete a border wall aren't necessarily pork and can be tied directly to the enumerated powers of the federal government, set forth in the Constitution relative to the defense of our nation; however, if the earmark directed that only businesses owned by Hunter Biden and/or the CCP, may be contracted, that is a problem.

Apparently, Johnson and his son check each other out if they were on porn sites or whatever.... Perhaps he decided to act out some of his fantasies and someone in office caught him.... Blackmail anyone? And we stupids thought he was Mr. Clean cut all American. We better wake up and get rid of this chameleon.
