The U.S. government should import foreign workers for home construction jobs and also pay them with shares of American citizenship, an industry executive demanded Wednesday at an advocacy event held by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.“We, right now, this year, need 430,000 workers [and] over the next couple years by 2023, we’re going to need probably another million,” said Michael Bellaman, the president and CEO of the Associated Builders and Contractors trade group. He continued: We need a merit-based, market-based, rule-of-law worker visa system that provides the necessary opportunities for [foreign] people that want to work in the United States, as well as for our employers to take those
There's an idea that is dead on arrival.

The Chamber has been imploring Congress to do this for decades. Each Democrat controlled Congress - at least since the Clinton administration - has agreed.

We have let all this go SO long that its a runaway train now. I well remember in 80’s watching my Texas hospital get more and more foreign nurses. It successfully kept wages down and it still does. Physicians too and though publicly they cannot say, there is real angst in the ranks.
Its only natural people start getting excited when it hits THEIR job. I say we import lots of foreign workers to replace a lot of civil service workers who are white and been in long enough to be getting top pay. We will hear squawking then.

Contractors cannot find Americans willing to work for the current wage, so the owners of capital seek to import cheap labor which further undermines wages. This is all the more maddening because taxpayers subsidize these low paying, non-benefitted jobs with $billions in public assistance. And no one believes that construction firms pass along their payroll savings to consumers because their competitors also exploit cheap labor. So, the contractors can take their demands and go to ‘ell. As for the national chamber of commerce, they are a greedy, open border, anti-American organization.

So we have to import skilled laborers to build low income housing in communities flooded with imported laborers who will need low income housing?

The US Chamber of Commerce is and has been right up there as the biggest supporter of mass uncontrolled illegal immigration for decades to keep the wages that must be paid to American workers as low as possible. Once you recognize the Chamber’s historic position regarding the importation of cheap foreign labor, it is easy to see where the Chamber is coming from.

#8 nails it....."for current wages". They need to pay higher wages for American workers, it's just that simple. And they don't want to, so they import illegals to work cheap.
That's the whole deal right there. All the meat packing plants in KS, which are a HUGE part of all the meat packing nationwide are 99% staffed with illegals. And they intentionally located them in counties with NO excess labor pool, because they DID NOT WANT AMERICAN workers, they intended to hire illegals. And in flyspeck rural towns, if you show up with a $100 million dollar factory, and will pay taxes....all the local corruptocrats fall all over themselves helping you import illegals, ignoring zone laws so 20 illegals can live in a single family home, and they register their vehicles without asking questions, and if the state folks come sniffing around.....the local state legislators make sure THAT gets shut down right away.
All the crooked pols in these tiny towns are bought and paid for to support the illegals.

Yes #12 and its same in my Texas. Crooks want a permanent of cheap labor. They have never ever been serious about protecting American jobs. They detested President Trump once they realized he was SERIOUS and not just talk about that southern birder.

So, America's youths are not learning the skills required for the country to thrive and prosper so the lefty pols who created this obvious vacuum now have the solution to not only that need but also to the illegal alien invasion?!! Imagine the timing on that! What a coincidence. s/

What a coincidence! Earlier today we had another article posted on Lucianne about Biden's plan to build "affordable housing" in middle class suburbs. It appears we have no shortage of American CEO's who want to assist Biden in destroying the middle class American Dream of living in a safe, quiet, leafy suburb.
Biden rarely misses an opportunity to refer to suburban Americans as racists and white supremacists. What better way to stick it to middle America, than by importing foreign workers to build the multi family housing that will instantly destroy property values in middle class suburban neighborhoods?
Note that Biden invited illegal aliens to come to America, and they're coming in droves. The cartels are loving it. He told them to come if they "want to be heard." Interestingly, the affordable housing shortage is of no importance to him when it comes to American citizens. He went ahead and issued his "invite" knowing Americans would suffer. Anyone who objects is, of course, a racist according to Dems.

We have the workers right here. Problem is most of them are illiterates. Other countries have an educational system that actually teaches reading, writing and math while we have an indoctrination system that teaches kids marxism, racism, gender identification, social engineering and political correctness. Sad part is, none can read, write or count to ten. Got it..

Given the current hyperinflation in building materials costs, Home construction is soon going to be in a death spiral, if it is not so already.
But I guess they can be imported and made citizens to fill 0bamabiden's 6 trillion dollar "Shovel Ready Infrastructure jobs."
(sometimes I make myself laugh.)

Importing foreign workers for home construction jobs ? We already do that. This is of course based on the assumption that they know how to construct. It's not as easy as you might think.

How about all these Chamber of Commerce people that want so many foreign works get sent to some other foreign land, Iran maybe, and they can have all the foreign labor they want, just leave their property and intellectual property here for good Americans.

Our system has encouraged ALL the youths to get college educations when many might be better suited for the trades. And we have a government that wants to keep people on the dole -- in order to control.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce makes me want to puke! Fat cats getting fatter and fatter off the middle class. They can kiss my CLASS!

Why do we need to import workers, when we have able bodied workers not working, and being paid not to work? A suit needs to be brought against the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to force them to drop the U.S. part of their name. That is false, and incorrect.

My great-grandfather came to the US (from England) about 1880. I think his employer brought him here. He worked at a woolen mill in CT.
Why doesn't this chamber and/or employers set up an apprentice program?
