Illinois smokers are now among the priority groups eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. As a part of the state’s vaccination schedule, residents with certain high-risk medical conditions — including smoking — are now able to get shots, along with seniors and medical and essential workers. The move to Phase 1B+ went into effect Feb. 25. (Snip) How sites that administer the vaccine verify you have a priority medical condition is up to local health departments, Gov. J.B. What about junkies, alcoholics, the morbidly obese and people with AIDS and other STDs? Shouldn’t they come first before healthy productive people who take care of themselves? And pregnant women? My daughter is four months pregnant and there’s no way that she would subject her unborn daughter to an untested rushed-through “vaccine”.

Why would I think entering Gov. JB Prickster's Illinois smoker data base would end up benefiting me? And then there's the matter of how early on in the pandemic, anecdotal info seemed to indicate nicotine users were faring better than the general population. Who knows, you can bet zero research dollars were spent looking into that.

I'm 70 with every almost every preexisting issue that indicates I should be a priority. Yet I can't find a shot within 175 miles of home. The only people I know who have gotten the shot have connections to medical industry. Like: Sister is a nurse. Daughter is a nurse. Brother is a doctor. Sister works for the health part of the government. And many aren't anywhere near 65. And lot's of them are from out of state and come here because they have connections to health industry here. I have been predicting I will hear them claim all the elderly have been vaccinated and thus they are opening it up to everyone before I can find anything. And then it will be impossible. I predict a year from now I still will not have found a shot. No doubt about it. The dems are running Georgia.

I have been smoking cigarettes for 53 years, a pack a day. I don’t have yellow teeth or fingers. I’m 69 years old and got the first vaccine yesterday. I became eligible a few weeks ago. In California smoking status is irrelevant.

Buried within the $1.9 trillion emergency spending bill that Congress sent to President Joe Biden's desk on Wednesday is a provision that could effectively block states from cutting taxes if they accept federal bailout dollars. That provision, added to the bill by the Senate last week, could put a halt to several states' plans to cut taxes this year as a way to stimulate economic growth following the COVID-19 pandemic. Depending on how the text is interpreted, the measure could also make it illegal for states to create new tax credit programs like the ones that have become a popular mechanism for expanding school choice.

In trial data released on Wednesday, Eli Lilly said the combination reduced the risk of hospitalization and death by 87 percent compared to a placebo. The results are an improvement of an earlier study of the combination, which reduced the risk of hospitalization and death by 70 percent.
