A Democrat in the House of Representatives' progressive "Squad" is arguing that the Trump administration could soon jail people in the U.S. for a variety of non-criminal reasons, seemingly regardless of their legal status.
Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., made the comments after visiting college students Rumeysa Ozturk and Mahmoud Khalil. Both are being held at an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility after being accused of espousing pro-Hamas beliefs. Neither are U.S. citizens, though both are in the country legally; Khalil is a legal permanent resident, and Ozturk is on a student visa.

A 50-year-old career criminal learned the hard way this month that trying to rape elderly women in the Bronx can get you beat — beat bad.
Oswaldo Ramos, a career criminal with 19 prior arrests, approached a 70-year-old Bronx woman around 1:00 pm last Friday evening and then tried to rape her before fleeing on foot, according to the New York Post.
But he made one vital mistake. He allowed himself to be captured by a surveillance camera trying to put his pants back on after the attempted rape. After the police released the footage to the public, it was go time.
“Enraged locals” reportedly spotted him nearby the next day

The story of Peanut the Squirrel took the Internet by storm after he and his buddy, Fred the Raccoon, were unceremoniously whacked by the government.
Judicial Watch used the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) to receive 163 pages from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, which shows that the group intended to “euthanize a squirrel named ‘Peanut’ and a raccoon named ‘Fred’ before they were seized from Pine City, NY, resident Mark Longo,” the outlet reported.
The premeditated assassination of a squirrel might seem like a ridiculous use of government resources, but it is New York after all.

Joy Behar said she fears that Pope Francis will be replaced by “some conservative guy” on Tuesday’s episode of ABC’s The View, during which the show’s co-hosts used the pope’s death as an opportunity to complain about U.S. politics.
After The View co-host Sunny Hostin said she hopes the late pope will be replaced by someone similar to him, Joy Behar replied, “I wonder, though, because there might be a backlash against how good he was, and how much humility he had compared to some of the leaders in this world right now.”

Podcaster Tim Pool took full advantage of his New Media seat in the White House Briefing Room to humiliate the corporate media to their faces … and it was glorious…
“Many of the news organizations represented in this room have marched in lock step on false narratives, such as the ‘very fine people’ hoax, the Covington smear,” Pool said, prefacing his first official question to Awesome White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. “And now, the ‘Maryland man’ hoax, where an MS-13 gang member, adjudicated by two different judges, I believe, is simply being referred to as a ‘Maryland man’ over and over again.”
He was only getting warmed up.

State and local authorities failed to clear the brush ahead of the devastating Palisades Fire — but the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) is still sending notices to owners of destroyed properties to clear their own.
One property owner, Larry Larson, a partner in the partnership that owned 111 Marquez Place, received a notice from the LAFD warning him about the need to comply with brush clearance regulations, and reminding him that “brush clearance is a year-round responsibility” (original emphasis). The LAFD also notified the building manager, separately, of the need to renew the building’s fire prevention certification.
The building burned down on January 8,

Minnesota attorney general Keith Ellison is trying to explain his support for a Muslim children’s organization that is being prosecuted for massive fraud.
Federal prosecutors have been investigating the Minneapolis-based Somali organization that was supposed to be raising funds for children but instead turned into the most expensive fraud concerning COVID funding in the entire nation, where 47 Somali immigrants have been charged with stealing $250 million in federal COVID funding.
Yet, Ellison took a meeting with representatives of that charity even as it was being investigated and now, in an op-ed, he is suddenly claiming, “as for the meeting —

New York officials joined a lawsuit against President Trump’s tariffs on Wednesday – with Gov. Kathy Hochul calling the fees a tax hike that is stirring “economic chaos” across the US.
Hochul and Attorney General Letitia James said the Empire State is joining a legal action with 11 other states in a bid to fight back against the Trump administration slapping tariffs on imports globally.
“President Trump’s reckless tariffs have skyrocketed costs for consumers and unleashed economic chaos across the country. New York is standing up to fight back against the largest federal tax hike in American history,” Hochul said.

The inclusion of New Media journalists and social media influencers in the White House press briefing room, which was teased in early January and officially announced after Donald Trump's inauguration, has caused some heartbreak and triggering among Legacy Media outlets and their supporters over the last three months.
Their collective outrage has resulted in a slew of conveniently timed pieces from some of the more "traditional" news operations of late under the guise of simply "informing" readers/viewers as to the latest developments in White House communications operations.
Among them is Politico, which published an article Tuesday on "the 8 MAGA Outlets Disrupting the White House Briefing Room." Another was CNN,

The Justice Department on Monday filed multiple federal charges against 27 members of the violent Tren de Aragua gang. The charges include racketeering, narcotics, sex trafficking, robbery, and firearms offenses. DOJ officials said in a press release that this marks the first time RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) charges have been filed against the Venezuelan prison gang. DOJ officials unsealed the indictments on Monday, as well.
Matthew Podolsky, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said in the release:
Today, we have filed charges against 27 alleged members, former members, and associates of Tren de Aragua, for committing murders and shootings,

1. The Border is Closing—Fast
Day One, the new Trump Department of Homeland Security—under the iron will of Secretary Kristi Noem—reinstated Remain in Mexico, revoked Biden’s reckless parole authority abuses, and began mass processing of illegal entrants for immediate deportation.
Border apprehensions have dropped 41% since January. Trump didn’t need 100 days to act—he needed one. And construction has resumed on key wall segments. ICE raids are back. Sanctuary cities are sweating. And the asylum loopholes are slamming shut.
2. Energy Independence, Round Two
Remember $7 gas? Trump does too.
