The Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has been placed under updated restrictions, per a recent decision by U.S. District Judge Ellen Hollander in Baltimore.
DOGE’s access is now limited when it comes to Social Security systems that contain personal data on citizens across the nation, the Associated Press (AP) reported on Thursday, noting that Hollander issued a preliminary injunction in the case after issuing a temporary restraining order. The case was brought by several labor unions and retired individuals who claim DOGE has violated privacy laws and its work has resulted in a risk to security.
In her ruling, Hollander said the objective to uncover government waste and fraud

A 13-year-old boy is dead after a school bus full of kids blew a tire and flipped on a South Carolina highway on Thursday, authorities said.
Two other students were injured in the crash, which occurred when a bus carrying middle schoolers home from a field trip had a blowout, careened into a guardrail, and bounced onto its side on an interstate in Lexington County, according to WBTV in Charlotte.
The bus had been carrying around 35 children and three adults. Eleven people were rushed to the hospital and five were in critical condition, the outlet said.

A graduate student who was wounded in the Florida State University shooting Thursday survived the harrowing attack by closing her eyes and “playing dead,” she said Friday.
Madison Askins, 23, was walking with a friend near the student union Thursday morning, when she was shot in the buttocks from behind, she told ABC News.
She fell to the ground and did everything in her power not to move.
“I released all the muscles in my body, closed my eyes and held my breath,” she said. “And I would take short breaths in between when I needed to.”

As Matt and Sarah have touched on this week, New York's Democratic Attorney General may soon find herself in hot legal water. Letitia James famously told voters she'd use her powers to come after Donald Trump, which she then proceeded to do, pursuing a civil case for "fraud" in which the supposedly defrauded victims denied that they were defrauded or victimized. James' office used a legal approach that even the Associated Press admitted had never been applied in the same manner to anyone else, ever (James' fellow anti-Trump partisan Alvin Bragg did something similar on the criminal side in Manhattan, of course). But now,

U.S. Vice President JD Vance and his family were at the Vatican for Good Friday services to celebrate Easter. The convalescing pope did not attend.
Reuters notes Vance, visiting Italy with his family over the Easter weekend, joined a Celebration of the Passion of the Lord mass in St. Peter’s Basilica on the day Christians mark Jesus’ crucifixion. The second family entered the service with more than a dozen Secret Service members just a few moments before the start of the liturgy, the National Catholic Reporter set out.

The small town of San Pedro Cutud in the Philippines continued its annual tradition of staging real crucifixions to mark Good Friday, honoring its most prolific participant, carpenter Ruben Enaje, with the bloody ritual for a 36th time.
Enaje, 64 years old, told reporters that he expects this to be his last year nailed to a cross, as he “really can’t do it anymore.” He was one of ten men crucified this year, the highest number in recent memory. On Wednesday, Rachel Morin’s mother, Patty, joined White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt for an emergency press briefing. Rachel, a mother of five, was brutally raped and murdered by an illegal alien.
Patty shared, in heartbreaking detail, what her daughter was subjected to at the hands of the monster who brutalized her and robbed five children of their mother.
On Monday, a Maryland jury found illegal immigrant Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez guilty of murdering Morin in August 2023.
But, according to Media Research Center, ABC/CBS/NBC devoted zero seconds to the trial on their evening and morning shows.

A pro-mass migration group, funded in part by Alex and George Soros’s left-wing nonprofit network, is behind a lawsuit trying to preserve the nation’s anchor baby policy, where the United States-born children of illegal aliens are rewarded birthright American citizenship. The case will be heard next month before the Supreme Court.
Immediately after taking office, Trump signed an executive order ending birthright citizenship for the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens — a policy once also opposed by Democrats. Annually, about 250,000 anchor babies are born in the U.S. every year, anchoring their illegal alien parents in the country.
