The Social Security Administration (SSA) has rolled out “enhanced technology” to detect suspicious activity in telephone claims or banking changes. The new technology will strengthen identification verification, preventing fraud. The SSA had initially planned to roll out new identity proofing policies in March, but pushback from beneficiaries and advocates delayed it. The policies have gone through two changes so far. So, what are these ID proofing policy changes, and how will they affect you?Previously, Social Security recipients could call the toll-free number to change their direct deposit bank information. But there’s a problem with using the phone.

I'm confused. Sounds like the SS Administration was going to take action to prevent fraud but backed down because coming to the SS office was too hard for some people. People can still change their bank info over the phone but "technology " will detect fraud. Better be good tech because fraudsters usually have better tech. Sounds like nothing has changed.

Many banks use the dual phone security system. Secure unless someone stole your phone. A problem I have with most of these security systems is that it becomes so secure the legal user can't use it.

Reading the article helps: More than *73 million* (73,000,000) recipients would have been the pool of potential people who would have to show up to change their deposit status. How many offices of new staff would be required to deal with that? So, the new rules are focused on people who are not like Zigrid, or me, or most of us. It's for those who flag potential fraud, like the person who calls and doesn't provide an address that corresponds to the one associated with the bank account he allegedly has. This makes sense.

The terms “woman” and “sex” in British law refer to biological women and biological sex and do not include men who identify as transgender, the UK’s Supreme Court has ruled in a landmark judgment. The ruling makes clear that transgender people with a gender recognition certificate can be excluded from single-sex spaces if “proportionate.” Women’s rights groups, including For Women Scotland (FWS), which brought the case against Scottish ministers to the UK’s highest court, celebrated the judgment, handed down to a packed courtroom in London on Wednesday.

District Judge James Boasberg has issued an opinion stating that he has found probable cause that the federal government was in criminal contempt by refusing to comply with his order prohibiting certain deportations under the Alien Enemies Act. “The Court ultimately determines that the Government’s actions ... demonstrate a willful disregard for its Order, sufficient for the Court to conclude that probable cause exists to find the Government in criminal contempt,” Boasberg said in an April 16 opinion. He said the government would have the opportunity to “purge” its contempt by complying with his order.
