Lawmakers in the Maryland legislature are one step closer to sending a bill creating a commission studying reparations to Gov. Wes Moore‘s (D-MD) desk after a preliminary vote Tuesday. SB0587 would create the Maryland Reparations Commission, tasked with studying forms of reparations for people whose ancestors were slaves or “impacted by certain inequitable government policies.” Moore has not said if he would support the bill if it were brought before him for approval, dodging questions on the matter from Baltimore television station WBFF. Maryland’s Department of Legislative Services found the legislation would cost $54,500 for fiscal 2026, as the state faces a budget deficit of more than $3 billion that is expected

This bill creates a "commission" to "study" reparations, kicking the can of authorization of real payments down the road to the end of 2027. It is a sop. Meanwhile, the lucky appointed "commissioners," probably all blacks, WILL enjoy payments, salaries and expense accounts at taxpayers expense. Just count that as reparations.

Just out of curiosity, what do the actual tax-payers (who will pay for this crap) have to say about this? Or don't they matter as long as the politicians can grab more money from them?

Cool, if that’s what the majority of voters of Maryland want! Notice even that the leftist Democrat Governor there is weary of this obvious effort to fake out Black folks! The wimpy Republicans should ensure that no Federal money finds it’s way into that effort.

Maryland is trying to outdo California in passing stupid legislation. If you're a Republican in Mayland, you have no representation. The democrats passed a climate policy (green new deal) that prohibits the building of new power plants using fossil fuels in favor of windmills and then closed down two power plants that used coal. As a result, the state doesn't produce enough energy to cover the energy needs of the state. Instead, it imports power from PA. that costs more and raises everyone's electric bill. The current democrat governor (an Obama clone) inherited a one-billion-dollar surplus from a Republican governor and promptly turned it into a three-billion-dollar deficit in two years. I, like many Marylanders, are now in the process of searching for a new state to move to because as usual, the only solution democrats have to reduce the deficit they created, is to increase taxes.

President Donald Trump said he wants Elon Musk to stay on his team “as long as possible” during a conversation with reporters Thursday, adding DOGE had found something “horrible” without divulging details. The president made his remarks during a conversation with reporters on Air Force One after Trump was asked how much longer Musk would stay on as a “special government employee.” The questions followed a report from Politico this week claiming Trump had told his inner circle that Musk will be leaving his role as a “special government employee” with DOGE soon. The report cited internal frustrations with Musk’s “unpredictability” and his potential to be a “political liability.”

On Thursday, the Aurora Police Department released information that a sophisticated burglary ring, consisting of Columbian nationals, was picked up and jailed after a "thorough and exhaustive investigation." A crew of "highly sophisticated" Colombian nationals has been arrested in Aurora, Colorado, after allegedly targeting and burglarizing nearly two dozen homes, authorities revealed. There have been a lot of dumb lawsuits against the Trump administration, but the one by the International Refugee Assistance Project representing World Church Services, HIAS and Lutheran Community Services is particularly dumb. One of the Pacito v. Trump plaintiffs is ‘Ahmed’, an Afghan man currently in Germany, on account of Biden’s mass evacuation, and the lawsuit insists that he be allowed to come to America because “he does not know the German language, which prevents him from working in Germany to support himself”. And it’s somehow easier to dump him in America than spend 10 Euros on a DuoLingo subscription. The failure to learn German does not make Ahmed a refugee.
