President Donald Trump announced Tuesday his plan to double tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum despite negative market reactions to the trade war.
“have instructed my Secretary of Commerce to add an ADDITIONAL 25% Tariff, to 50%, on all STEEL and ALUMINUM COMING INTO THE UNITED STATES FROM CANADA, ONE OF THE HIGHEST TARIFFING NATIONS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. This will go into effect TOMORROW MORNING, March 12th,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Markets reacted negatively to Trump’s latest tariffs, with the Dow Jones dropping by nearly 600 points as Wall Street continues to worry about the possibility of a recession. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq both lowered slightly Tuesday

Ruth Marcus is leaving the Washington Post.
What a loss. What a loss.
Marcus is one of the many liberal columnists at the Post who are upset at Jeff Bezos' decision to move the paper's Opinion Page in a more liberty-friendly direction, promoting free market ideas and personal liberty rather than the soft-socialism usually found on the pages of the Post.
In one way I applaud Marcus for taking a stand for principle; in another, I am inclined to roll my eyes. As a 66-year-old she is a spring chicken by Washington standards, hardly eligible by age to become a junior Senator.

A reporter for conspiracy theorist Alex Jones' InfoWars was brutally murdered outside his south Austin apartment late on Sunday night.
Jamie White was found badly wounded outside his home on Douglas Street around midnight in a slaying that Jones blamed on Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza.
Officers from Austin Police Department responded to 911 calls reporting a man with 'obvious signs of trauma.'
White was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Police have called the incident a homicide but have not identified any suspects. The slaying had been investigated as a shooting/stabbing but authorities have not released additional information.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced Monday that the security clearances of 51 intelligence officers who signed a letter portraying Hunter Biden’s laptop as ‘Russian disinformation’ have been officially revoked.
Gabbard, one of several strong, intelligent women with a significant role in President Trump's cabinet, delivered the bad news to some high-profile members of the intelligence community.
Names such as former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Directors Mike Hayden, John Brennan, and Leon Panetta, and former National Security Advisor John Bolton signed on to the letter. And by doing so, they eventually signed onto their own security clearance revocation.

The Trump administration’s pulling of $400 million in grants and contracts has reverberated through the world of higher education. Harvard has announced a hiring freeze, although they don’t quite call it that. The language is turgid, but the point comes through:
Universities throughout the nation face substantial financial uncertainties driven by rapidly shifting federal policies.
Yes, we now have an administration that is opposed to anti-Semitism.
Effective immediately, Harvard will implement a temporary pause on staff and faculty hiring across the University. In the coming days, we will work closely with the leadership of Harvard’s Schools and administrative units to help determine how to implement this guidance in extraordinary cases

If you’ve been trying to get on X today and are having trouble, you’re not alone. It appears that the left’s assault on Elon Musk's enterprises has taken a disturbing digital turn. X has suffered an unprecedented three major outages in a single day, with a mysterious hacker group called "Dark Storm Team" brazenly claiming responsibility for what appears to be a coordinated attack on conservative free speech.
Users worldwide encountered a barrage of technical difficulties: login failures, content loading problems, and widespread access disruptions.
Elon Musk addressed the attacks Monday afternoon. “There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against 𝕏,”

Former Obama advisor Van Jones declared that the Democratic Party was "screwed" and trapped between two deeply unpopular factions.
The CNN commentator couldn’t help but laugh at the "nightmare" Democrats were in when asked about the ongoing friction between party members.
"Look, man, we’re screwed," Jones said on "CNN Newsroom" Sunday. "I mean, Democrats don’t know what to do. This is a nightmare. You know, somebody like Donald Trump, we thought we’d at least have Hakeem Jeffries in the Speaker’s chair to hold him back if we didn‘t have Kamala in there to do the right thing."

President Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky apologized to Trump in a letter after a explosive public argument during an Oval Office meeting.
“Zelensky sent a letter to the president. He apologized for that whole incident that happened in the Oval Office,” Witkoff said Monday on Fox News. “I think that it was an important step and there’s been a lot of discussion between our teams and the Ukrainians and the Europeans who are relevant to this discussion as well.”
U.S. and Ukrainian officials are set to meet in Saudi Arabia this week to pick back up on peace negotiations to end the war with Russia.

The Department of Homeland Security is now encouraging illegal immigrants to self-deport with a new version of the defunct CBP One app, which the Biden administration used to facilitate the entry of more than 1 million aliens.
The revamped CBP Home app includes a “Submit Intent to Depart” feature that allows illegal immigrants to voluntarily leave the country instead of getting deported by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. After notifying their intent to leave, users can verify their departure. The app was rolled out on Monday.

The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear a case that could determine if mental health professionals in the United States can legally engage in conversations aimed at helping young clients struggling with their gender identity to accept their biological sex.
The case, Chiles v. Salazar, involves a Christian counselor in Colorado, Kaley Chiles, who sued over a state law that prohibits so-called “conversion therapy” for minors. Her lawyers with the conservative Alliance Defending Freedom, or ADF, say the government’s one-sided censorship of private conversations between clients and counselors violates the First Amendment’s free-speech protections.

Ukraine may not be able to survive against Russia even with U.S. support, President Donald Trump said in a Fox News interview that aired on Sunday.
“Well, it may not survive anyway,” Trump said in an interview on Sunday Morning Futures when asked about his decision to roll back U.S. aid for Ukraine. “We have some weaknesses with Russia. It takes two. Look, it was not going to happen — that war and it happened. So now we’re stuck with this mess.”
“I just don’t think he’s grateful,” Trump added, referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The worst part about being chairman of the College Republican club at my school (shoutout to JMU) was constantly being hit on by babes. I’d tell them, “Stop, please, I’m trying to do important work here. Go harass the football star instead.” But NOOOO. They just wouldn’t leave me alone. I never had a moment’s peace.
Because, obviously, nothing’s sexier than being in a political party. It’s the coolest thing ever!
Okay, I’m lying. Most of the time, talking politics is an anti-aphrodisiac: People either don’t care at all — or they care WAY too much. (Hide the knives.) Neither party had a positive Q rating,
