New data suggests that soaring egg prices, which became a flashpoint issue during last year's presidential election, may finally be falling. Figures released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture show that the average cost of one dozen eggs is now significantly cheaper than in recent days. The economic indicator website Trading Economics shows that a dozen eggs were $5.51 on Tuesday, more than $2 cheaper than "an all-time high of 8.17 in March of 2025." Newsweek reached out to the White House via email for comment. Egg prices have skyrocketed to historic levels over the past year, with wholesalers

And at $5.51 a dozen, that is only.....45 cents each. Seven bucks for a Starbucks isn't a problem, but God forbid you pay a buck for a TWO fried egg sandwich

What does it say about the news media and state of society in general when the price of eggs becomes a "flashpoint issue"?

The Department of Education announced Tuesday it was firing nearly half of its workforce, the latest Trump administration move to shrink the federal government that could face swift legal challenge. A senior department official said 1,315 staffers will be let go and received the notification Tuesday. The Education Department started President Trump’s second term with more than 4,000 employees, but even before Tuesday, hundreds had already been put on leave or had taken a buyout offer. After this reduction, there will be 2,183 employees left with the department, which Trump has repeatedly called to shutter completely. The senior official said the reduction in employees will not impact

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin announced Monday on social media that he is cutting multiple diversity equity and inclusion (DEI) programs, resulting in billions in taxpayer savings. How some of these programs benefited the environment is anybody’s guess: …Lee Zeldin said on Monday he canceled 400 environmental justice and diversity, equity and inclusion grants totaling $1.7 billion in the Trump administration's latest crackdown on DEI initiatives. The EPA did not immediately respond to a request for comment on details about the cancellation. Since taking office on January 20, Republican President Donald Trump has passed executive orders aimed at dismantling DEI in the government and private sector.

President Donald Trump announced Tuesday his plan to double tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum despite negative market reactions to the trade war. “have instructed my Secretary of Commerce to add an ADDITIONAL 25% Tariff, to 50%, on all STEEL and ALUMINUM COMING INTO THE UNITED STATES FROM CANADA, ONE OF THE HIGHEST TARIFFING NATIONS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. This will go into effect TOMORROW MORNING, March 12th,” Trump posted on Truth Social. Ruth Marcus is leaving the Washington Post. What a loss. What a loss. Marcus is one of the many liberal columnists at the Post who are upset at Jeff Bezos' decision to move the paper's Opinion Page in a more liberty-friendly direction, promoting free market ideas and personal liberty rather than the soft-socialism usually found on the pages of the Post. In one way I applaud Marcus for taking a stand for principle; in another, I am inclined to roll my eyes. As a 66-year-old she is a spring chicken by Washington standards, hardly eligible by age to become a junior Senator.

Jamie White was found badly wounded outside his home on Douglas Street around midnight in a slaying that Jones blamed on Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza. Officers from Austin Police Department responded to 911 calls reporting a man with 'obvious signs of trauma.' White was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries. Police have called the incident a homicide but have not identified any suspects. The slaying had been investigated as a shooting/stabbing but authorities have not released additional information.

Gabbard, one of several strong, intelligent women with a significant role in President Trump's cabinet, delivered the bad news to some high-profile members of the intelligence community. Names such as former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Directors Mike Hayden, John Brennan, and Leon Panetta, and former National Security Advisor John Bolton signed on to the letter. And by doing so, they eventually signed onto their own security clearance revocation. Gabbard further ripped

Yes, we now have an administration that is opposed to anti-Semitism. Effective immediately, Harvard will implement a temporary pause on staff and faculty hiring across the University. In the coming days, we will work closely with the leadership of Harvard’s Schools and administrative units to help determine how to implement this guidance in extraordinary cases

Wall Street is puking big time, and the sell buttons are working overtime whenever the word “tariff” passes from Donald Trump’s lips. Goldberg argued that Trump inherited a “very robust” economy, crediting the Biden administration for adding nearly 16 million jobs to the U.S. economy, though she failed to mention this was largely a result of the U.S. recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. The co-host also did not mention that inflation rose to a peak of 9% during the Biden administration and that the deficit reached record-breaking levels largely due to the previous White House’s high spending.
