Six reasons to go buy a gun

Roy from the Paul Harrell channel recently produced a short video with very good advice entitled ‘Go Buy A Gun.’ As he outlines in the video, you will want to check with local laws and seek out help if you’re not experienced in such matters. And we have six solid reasons to ‘pull the trigger’ (pardon the pun) on gun ownership. 1. All part of being prepared. Owning a gun is simply a part of being prepared for emergencies. Where it’s better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it. Firearms are like any other piece of emergency equipment,

If anyone buys a gun they should know well how to use it, and how to protect themselves from themselves. Don't buy it and take it home without taking some time to use it and make yourself good with it.

A Florida Highway patrolman was a neighbor of mine a few years ago. We became buddies because he is an avid golfer--I'm a professional golfer--and because I'm interested in what he does. (He had some interesting stories from police friends in several states. The cops deal with some really horrible people.) His #1 rule of self-defense is don't depend on law enforcement to keep you safe from criminals. Your safety is your responsibility. Local cops are not going to be there when you need them. Nearly all law abiding citizens should have the capability of deadly force against violent criminals. My Trooper neighbor is a competitive shooter and feral hog hunter when he's not in uniform. I figured that if I could give him a couple of my wedges and some professional encouragement or a lesson or two, he would teach me how to shoot my pistol better. Well, within a year he had started shooting under par in golf, and my work at the range was sharper. I hope he's safe today. You are responsible for your own secutity. LE will be there eventually. Will you still be alive?

I always like hearing somebody in government - or just a clueless liberal - say “you don’t need a gun!” That means you really need a gun, right now. I always tell the liberals “well, thankfully, the founding fathers anticipated people like you, and that’s why we have the Bill of Rights and not the Bill of Needs!”

Tragic boating accidents are when all your guns go overboard and you no longer have them. When the authorities come to confiscate your guns you tell them of the accident and send them on their way. S/O

On CNN this morning, Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy, who might be the dumbest man in government today, decried the Trump administration’s position on the Russia/Ukraine war. You can read much more at the link, but I am going to focus on just a couple of points. First, the question asked by CNN’s Dana Bash: Host Dana Bash said, “Do you think there’s hope of salvaging this relationship with Ukraine?” This is mind-numbingly stupid. The proper question, as even Zelensky realizes, is whether Ukraine has hope of salvaging its relationship with the United States. Every Republican president starts with distinct disadvantages. He inherits a largely disloyal and subversive federal bureaucracy, can expect nothing but hostile media coverage, and will be forced to battle for every inch against partisan judges who despise him. Considering how long the Left has owned the culture and America’s educational system, these power centers are strong. Republicans in the past addressed this problem with the failed strategy of attempting to play nice with serpents. It was akin to kissing a rattlesnake, and didn’t end well. President Trump understands that the only way to succeed with so many power centers aligned against him

In a significant policy shift, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered U.S. Cyber Command to halt all planning against Russia, including offensive cyber operations, according to a report by The Record. This directive, which does not affect the National Security Agency’s intelligence-gathering efforts, marks a reversal from the U.S.’s decade-long stance of viewing Russia as a major cybersecurity threat, following incidents like election interference and cyberattacks. One such person who had to chime in was none other than Hillary Clinton, who linked to a Gizmodo article on the report, declaring with sarcasm: “Wouldn’t want to hurt Putin’s feelings.” Hegseth shot back with an epic burn of Hillary.

Victor Davis Hanson has posted the following 10 observations across several social media platforms: Ten bad takeaways from the Zelenskyy blow-up 1. Zelenskyy does not grasp—or deliberately ignores—the bitter truth: those with whom he feels most affinity (Western globalists, the American Left, the Europeans) have little power in 2025 to help him. And those with whom he obviously does not like or seeks to embarrass (cf. his Scranton, Penn. campaign-like visit in September 2024) alone have the power to save him. For his own sake, I hope he is not being “briefed” by the Obama-Clinton-Biden gang to confront Trump, given their interests are not really Ukraine’s as they feign.

The Trump administration’s repudiation of the “green” agenda will have many benefits, not least for the environment. At Watts Up With That?, Paul Driessen states the environmental case against “green” energy succinctly. See original for links: [President Trump’s] actions will benefit wild, scenic and agricultural lands in America and worldwide. * Wind, solar and transmission line installations would have sprawled across tens of millions of acres, impacting habitats, farmlands and scenic vistas, onshore and offshore; interfered with water flow, aviation, shipping and other activities; and killed whales, birds and other wildlife. * These “clean, green” technologies require far more raw materials than the equipment they replace: electric cars need 4-6 times

It’s not a mystery why Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is set to testify before Congress regarding her city’s affinity for tolerating illegal alien crime via its sanctuary status. Yet, what happened over the weekend pretty much says it all: an off-duty police officer shot and killed an armed attacker at a Chick-fil-A in Back Bay, and Ms. Wu gave condolences to the family of the criminal. As an amateur student of history, I have often been struck by how many countries have lost wars, have even seemingly been ruined, and yet have bounced back. What ultimately destroys a country? Suicide. A loss of national will, national pride, national identity. Which brings us to the current depressed state of the United Kingdom. From the Telegraph: “Nelson makes way for Yvette Cooper portrait in Parliament’s diversity drive.” Nelson, of course, is Horatio Nelson, one of the greatest naval commanders of all time–probably the greatest–the hero of the Nile, Copenhagen, and, above all, Trafalgar, where he was killed by a French sniper but lived long enough to know

On Wednesday's Anderson Cooper 360, CNN gave liberal Senator Angus King (I-ME) a forum to accuse President Donald Trump of abusing his constitutional power with his actions since taking office. And on Thursday morning, MSNBC's Morning Joe followed suit with their own interview with him entirely devoted to this topic. In neither forum did anyone ask if he objected to any of the similarly controversial actions taken by the Barack Obama or Joe Biden administrations, or, after he brought up USAID on Morning Joe, correct his already debunked claim that the President does not have the authority to shut down the agency.

The mainstream media and their Democrat puppets were practically foaming at the mouth this weekend after President Trump and VP Vance had a tense exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office on Friday. Once again, however, their faux outrage has been exposed as disingenuous since a similar moment between then-President Joe Biden and Zelenskyy occurred back in 2022. Isn't it funny how quickly the left forgets their own history? The media breathlessly accused Trump of "setting up" Zelenskyy and being "disrespectful" to our ally over his perceived ingratitude. Turns out, Biden had his own issues with Zelenskyy’s lack of gratitude back in 2022.

As the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) seeks to end wasteful subsidies, it is crucial to focus on Amtrak. Founded in 1971, Amtrak began as an "experiment" to see if passenger trains could make money. Yet, with routes drawn for political gain rather than public need, it has lost money ever since. Instead of throwing good money after bad, DOGE and Congress should cut Amtrak's subsidies to $0 in 180 days. To put things in perspective, Amtrak's long-haul routes lost $635.1 million in FY2024. Short-haul, state-supported routes didn’t fare any better, losing another $565.6 million. Even the busy Northeast Corridor loses money with depreciation factored in. This financial drain isn't new;

In what was planned to be a brief, cordial, greeting, President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy squared off in the Oval Office and left an alliance shaken. For three years, the west has stood against Russia's unprovoked invasion of an innocent country. Ukraine is a vanity war for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, who covets an empire. Anybody who watched the entire Oval Office meeting between President Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky would know that it was not an “ambush” or a “setup” by Trump, as characterized by Democrats and malign media entities. It was the opposite. If anyone came to that meeting in bad faith, it was clearly Zelensky, whose body language and attitude was negative from the start. Trump could not have been more cordial, having steered the complex negotiations with Russia and Ukraine to a first step where he believed peace was a real possibility. But Zelensky had other ideas. He contradicted, interrupted and insulted Trump, even
