"You can’t rebuild the same. We have to rebuild with science. We have to build with climate reality in mind," California Gov. Gavin Newsom told CNN last week in an interview about rebuilding the burned-out Pacific Palisades. "We have to look at infrastructure or redundancy systems. Ingress, egress, as it relates to emergency management and planning materials."
The interview seems to have flown under the radar, but when I caught it this morning, a bit belatedly, my alarm bells went off left and right.
Well, to be honest, they were all on the left.
Whatever happened to Newsom's promise that he'd eliminate red tape and accelerate the rebuilding of one of L.A.'s nicest

During his campaign, Donald Trump promised to use Elon Musk to improve government efficiency, partly by ending the incredible graft and corruption permeating the bureaucracy. Since Trump’s inauguration, Musk and his youthful four-man crew, using the power of AI, have identified a host of fundamental problems in the Treasury Dept. As Musk explained: (X) To be clear, what the @DOGE team and @USTreasury have jointly agreed makes sense is the following:
- Require that all outgoing government payments have a payment categorization code, which is necessary in order to pass financial audits. This is frequently left blank, making audits almost impossible.

Boeing Vice President David Dutcher warned workers on the company's Space Launch System (SLS) to prepare for layoffs on Friday if NASA finally cancels the rocket providing lift for the Artemis lunar program. The political fallout could make heads explode.
Eric Burger has the details on Dutcher's emergency all-hands meeting, but they aren't all that interesting. What is interesting is what happens when and if a team led by SpaceX founder Elon Musk tries to cancel a multibillion-dollar project led by Boeing.
Artemis is the U.S.-led international effort to establish a sustainable human presence on the moon, but to borrow a New England expression, we "can't get there from here"

The Israeli press has reported on the treatment of their hostages by the Nazis of Hamas. The appalling emaciation of the hostages is easily explained. They were deliberately starved (Israel Hayom). The starvation was one element of the criminal mistreatment (Ynet News) to which they were subjected.
Did President In Name Only Joe Biden ever express concern over the treatment of the hostages while forcing the Israelis to feed their captors? I don’t recall that he did. If so, he didn’t make much of a fuss about it, did he? He preferred to work on deposing the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. If Biden were still PINO, moreover,

Forget about “national security concerns” and all their bellyaching over Trump’s “erratic behavior.” That’s not why they revoked Trump’s intelligence briefings in 2021. Not only were the Democrats lying, but the opposite was true — and I’ll prove it to you.
Exactly four years and two days ago, President Biden discontinued the bipartisan practice of allowing ex-presidents to receive national security briefings, taking the unprecedented step of blacklisting Trump. In an interview with CBS News, Biden explained his (ahem) thought process: “I just think that there is no need for [Trump] to have the — the intelligence briefings. What value is giving him an intelligence briefing?

Does Chucky Schumer really believe that $20 million for Sesame Street in Iraq will somehow benefit the U.S.? Or $7 million to promote LGBT advocacy in Jamaica and Uganda? Uganda enforces the death penalty for gays.
The list goes on and on and on. I don’t need to bore you with the recitation. But it is extremely important to understand that $1.5 million promoting DIE in Serbia isn’t about DIE. It’s about something much more sinister.
President Eisenhower coined the term “military-industrial complex,” referring to a revolving door between the Defense Department and manufacturers of bombs and bullets. This revolving door saw the DoD

The media continue to frantically push to save the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) from the DOGE scalpel. This effort was the basis of today’s interview between CBS’s Margaret Brennan and original Squad Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN).
Watch as Brennan and Omar do their level best to depict USAID as a noble agency that is the victim of cruel cuts, and note Omar’s sudden interest in congressional oversight (click “expand” to view transcript): MARGARET BRENNAN: You have spoken quite a bit this week about what USAID meant in your life, particularly when you were living in a refugee camp for four years. And USAID, you talked about, helping to

How is it that Democrats and progressives can ignore illegal and immoral actions within their own party and fixate on denouncing the perfectly legal and moral actions of Republicans and MAGA supporters?
Back in 2009, Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) declared that "illegal migration is wrong, plain and simple. Persons who enter the U.S. without permission are illegal aliens and should not be treated the same as those who entered legally." By 2022, 11 million illegals had entered the United States during the Biden/Harris administration, and Senator Schumer was advocating for their citizenship. MAGA Republicans are horrified at what those illegal immigrants are doing to our country and are costing the American taxpayers.

The establishment media and all too many government and law enforcement officials continued to treat the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as if it really were the neutral civil rights organization it claims to be, but it’s getting ever more difficult to sustain that façade. Too many CAIR officials keep letting the mask slip.
The latest is Noora Shalash, who reportedly is or was the Director of Government Affairs for CAIR-Kentucky. She was recently caught on video assaulting a Jewish man and screaming: “I demand jihad, I want ISIS to kill all of you.”
Now, virtually all of the politicians who have happily stood next

Politico issued an emergency "Note to Our Readers" on Thursday about evidence uncovered by Team Doge that Politico has been paid at least $8 million indirectly via high priced government agency subscriptions to its Politico Pro service.
Bizarrely in the entire note the agency at the center of the scandal dares not mention its name. Yes, you will not see the word "USAID" even once in the note issued by Politico's CEO Goli Sheikholeslami and Global Editor-in-Chief John F. Harris.
The damage control starts with the subtitle of the emergency note: "POLITICO has been the subject of debate on X this week. Some of it has been misinformed, and some of it

Here we go again. At the beginning of his first term as president, Donald Trump issued an executive order temporarily banning travel from several countries—Yemen, for example, Sudan, Libya, and four others—that had been identified as major exporters of terrorism. The left went nuts, excoriating Trump for his “racist” “Muslim travel ban.”
It wasn’t a “Muslim travel ban,” but try telling that to Seattle District Court judge James Robart. He sniffed the air, sensed the pleasing hysteria and press coverage, and issued a cursory restraining order against Trump’s executive order. The humorous part of Robart’s order came towards the end. As I wrote at the time,

During the last months of Joe Biden’s presidency, he obviously was not fit to serve as president. So who ran the White House during that time?
Lindy Li is a former Democratic National Committee insider who was heavily involved in Kamala Harris’s campaign. Li answers that question:
"According to Li, Joe Biden, already staggering from public scrutiny, effectively lost control of the White House after that fateful debate [with Donald Trump in June 2024]. The event reportedly prompted an audacious power shuffle at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue—one spearheaded by none other than Hunter Biden.
Li alleges that, following Biden’s disastrous debate drubbing, Hunter essentially took over White House operations. Speaking with podcaster
