Ten Problems with DEI That Frighten the Public

The diversity, equity, and inclusion project, often seen as a major element of the so-called “woke” creed along with green fanaticism, keeps popping up as a possible subtext in a variety of recent tragedies. In the case of the Los Angeles fires, Mayor Karen Bass, who cut the fire department budget, was warned of the mounting fire dangers of the Santa Anna winds and parched brush on surrounding hillsides. No matter—she junketed in Uganda. When furor followed, on cue, her defenders decried a racialist attack on “a black woman.”

VDH makes a good point in that the DEI mindset never goes away once someone is employed on that basis. That explains why Karen Bass is taken aback when she was expected to step up and actually do something during a crisis. How dare she suddenly be judged on competence!

DEI is akin to all the parasitic lifeforms in that it is of no benefit to its host. It must be rooted out and burned, never to come back!

So, as my wife and I age into the years we’ll be thinking about long term healthcare, I cringe at the thought of who or what will be providing such care. Doesn’t matter the color or the gender, I just want them to actually KNOW what they’re doing…to have earned their place.

Mistakes--- in the first paragraph, no less--- like "Santa Anna winds" and "junketed in Uganda" destroy the credibility of the writer. It's Santa Ana winds, and she junketed in Ghana. I am surprised the mistakes got through on a VDH piece. Wouldn't he have a good ediitor?

Your concerns are justified, #4. The medical industry has refused to publish the performance records of doctors for decades before DEI, i.e. how many successes vs how many deaths in their area of specialty. Imagine how bad it is now.

Corporations that are rapidly dropping DEI hiring practices are not doing so due to public pressure. They are reaping the results of a downgraded workforce, as is the government. Their fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders trumps their desire to appease social justice warriors. Public pressure gives them cover. The Executive Branch of the Federal Government, on the other hand, can end this with a swipe of the pen, which is exactly what happened.

No doubt the leftist and progressive Democrats intend to use mass uncontrolled illegal immigration to further expand the DEI beneficiaries as just about all the untold millions of Third World origin illegal aliens (migrants) who the Biden-Harris Administration has allowed to unlawfully gain entry to the USA, just about all fit within the minority groups defined through Democrat identity politics. The first partisan Democrat benefits that the Democrats expect will occur after the untold millions of illegal aliens are counted in the next US Census, especially throughout the so-called sanctuary cities and other Democrat controlled areas, causing the redistricting of a yet undetermined number of congressional districts to be moved from their current locations into the Democrat controlled so-called Sanctuary Cities and other Democrat controlled areas where leftist and progressive Democrat politicians are bound to win the resulting redistricting caused elections in those new congressional districts. Of course with the motive of giving the leftist and progressive Democrats permanent control of the Congressional House of Representatives. Once the leftist and progressive Democrats control the Congress in the years ahead, they intend through Democrat so-called “comprehensive immigration reform” to include a massive amnesty for just about all of the illegal aliens in the USA, that would also carry on to cover future millions of illegal aliens who the Democrats would continue to allow to enter the USA in the years ahead, place all on a Democrat “path to citizenship” thus transforming today’s illegal alien population into tomorrow’s massive increase in leftist and progressive Democrat supporters and voters. That would be part of the leftist and progressive Democrat long term plan to transform the USA through demographic population change into a minority-majority country where a vast coalition of leftist and progressive Democrat supporters and voters, deemed to be members of defined domestic and foreign origin minority groups through the leftist and progressive Democrats permanently control the future politics of the USA as they go about transforming today’s USA into some sort of socialist utopia. Do the wimpy Republicans even have a clue!

What is most wrong with DEI is that it is virulently anti-American. This country was created as a refuge from the feudal privilege based society of medieval Europe. Ability to rise on basis of merit and results is the heart of the American culture and ethos. Replacing equality with equity is a mortal blow. And that is exactly why it has been chosen by those who wish to destroy us.

Following an explosion of antisemitism in the wake of the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attack on Israel, President Donald Trump signed an executive order (EO) on Wednesday that ordered law enforcement to crack down on antisemitism on college campuses, including removing pro-Hamas activists with student visas from the country. "It shall be the policy of the United States to combat anti-Semitism vigorously, using all available and appropriate legal tools, to prosecute, remove, or otherwise hold to account the perpetrators of unlawful anti-Semitic harassment and violence," the EO reads.

Senator Chuck Schumer is a lawyer, so presumably he is familiar with the provisions of 18 U.S. Code § 115. In case he has forgotten—after all, there are a lot of statutes to keep track of—Edward R. Martin, Jr., the Interim D.C. U.S. Attorney, is in the process of reminding him. Among other things, that statute holds that anyone who threatens a federal government official or their family with the “intent to impede, intimidate, or interfere with such official, judge, or law enforcement officer while engaged in the performance of official duties, or with intent to retaliate against such official, judge, or law enforcement officer on account of the performance

"This is NPR." That tagline has long been used for National Public Radio, but what it is remains remarkably in doubt. NPR remains something of a curiosity. It is a state-subsidized media outlet in a country that rejects state media. It is a site that routinely pitches for its sponsors while insisting that it does not have commercials. That confusion may be on the way to a final resolution following the election. NPR is about to have a reckoning with precisely what it is and what it represents. While I once appeared regularly on NPR, I grew more critical of the outlet as it became overtly political in its coverage

Sometimes in life, it is only once a crisis passes that we can truly see just how awful and harmful it was. This week, in these pages, Joseph Wulfsohn offered a long read, detailing the prevarications of the mainstream media in the Joe Biden era, and its complicity in the lie of the century. You should read the whole damning thing, as only now journalists begin to admit their duplicitous role in propping up Biden. I applaud Wulfsohn for persevering. I would have thrown a coffee mug through my laptop about halfway through writing it out of sheer anger.

Being the Mayor of a city can be difficult. Actually, being Mayor is difficult. Being the Mayor of a border city when officials in Washington D.C. don't recognize the glaring border security failure is extremely difficult. That is the position I have been in for the last four years. I became Mayor of Yuma in 2014. Yuma is located at the intersection of the Arizona, California and Mexico borders. International realities are a part of life in Yuma. The border was relatively quiet—with occasional issues of large groups arriving at the Port of Entry in San Luis—during my first term.
Spoiling for a fight: Why challenging
birthright citizenship is a win-win for Trump

This week, the Trump administration doubled down in its fight against birthright citizenship. The usual alliance of pundits, professors and press lined up to declare any challenge to birthright citizenship as absurd. Yet the administration seemed not only undeterred, but delighted. There is a reason for that euphoria: They believe that they cannot lose this fight. The legal case against birthright citizenship has always been tough to make, given the long-standing interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment in federal courts and agencies. Many in academia and the media have shown unusual outrage toward anyone questioning the basis for birthright citizenship as a legal or policy matter.

President Biden’s and President Trump’s pardons have generated a lot of controversy. But there are considerable differences between the two sets of pardons, with a two-tiered system of justice unfairly biased against Jan. 6 defendants. Last month, Biden pardoned his son, Hunter. And then, on his last day in office, Biden pardoned five family members. That same day, Trump pardoned 1,500 people who were convicted or facing trial for the Jan. 6 riot. The media’s coverage of these pardons has been dramatically different.

It hasn’t been my intention to run a series of columns chronicling the Democrats’ long sojourn into the political wilderness, but let’s face it — these things are writing themselves. Take, for example, the eight painful minutes that ensued when Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Pfizer), the self-styled Advocate For The People who rose to prominence as a fake Native American academic and who again and again is exposed as an utter fraud in politics, was given the microphone to examine Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the Trump administration’s nominee to head the Department of Health and Human Services. If you haven’t seen this, you owe it to yourself

President Trump’s pick to lead the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, has never been shy about sharing her criticisms of America’s surveillance state. So, it came as no surprise when some of its biggest defenders grilled her on the subject during her Thursday Senate confirmation hearing. While testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Gabbard was repeatedly pressed by senators to offer a full-throated defense of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which intel agencies abused to spy on unsuspecting Americans and surveil Trump’s 2016 campaign.

During Bobby Kennedy Jr.’s contentious Senate confirmation hearing as HHS secretary nominee, he revealed that Medicaid costs blew up by a staggering 60% during Joe Biden’s presidency. “Our ship is sinking. Our 60% increase in Medicaid over the past four years is the biggest budget line now, and it’s growing faster than any other.” Biden’s border invasion is what happened over the past four years. It stands to reason that if you have an extra 10 million to 20 million new potential low-income patients, none of whom has contributed a penny in net taxes, you will get a blowup in Medicaid and Medicare costs. This is the dirty little secret

Donald J. Trump’s 2024 electoral victory was so decisive that, for the first time since 1988, congressional Democrats did not challenge the certification of a Republican presidential victory. Trump won the popular vote, swept the swing states, and ran ahead of down ballot Republicans. Unquestionably, he has a mandate to govern. That mandate belongs to the MAGA agenda, not to conventional Republican priorities. President Trump best defined his political mission in his 2016 address at the Republican National Convention: “The most important difference between our plan and that of our opponents, is that our plan will put America First. Americanism, not globalism, will be our credo.

The Southern California wildfires, still burning, already rank among the most destructive in the state’s fire-laden history. They have destroyed entire neighborhoods in Los Angeles, including those in the beautiful and affluent Pacific Palisades community nestled along the Pacific Ocean between Malibu and Santa Monica. The scale of the destruction and the human suffering the fires have inflicted are massive. Firefighters are continuing to battle blazes across some 62 square miles, an area larger than all of San Francisco. The latest death toll has reached 29, which would put the fires third in the state’s history for fatalities, behind only the 1933 Griffith Park fire that killed 29
