Clyburn: ‘There’s a Danger’ of Jim

Representative James Clyburn (D-SC) claimed Friday on CNN’s “Inside Politics” that the country was in danger of Jim Crow laws returning because voters did not prioritize democracy. Host Dana Bash said, “I want to switch gears to something that former President Obama said.[Snip] “Talk of bridging our differences when the country and the world seemed so bitterly divided felt like an academic exercise, it felt farfetched, even naive. Especially since as far as they were concerned, the election proved that democracies pretty far down on people’s priority list.”

What is Clyburn's definition of democracy? it seems far different than what is said in the Constitution. Some blacks appear to be out of touch with modern day conditions of the black community. Does Clyburn know that more black had been hired under Trump's presidency? Clyburn just makes things up to keep blacks and other minorities at odds with each other.

I have to respectfully disagree with some of my fellow L-Dotters. It has been obvious to me that there IS a 'new Jim Crow Era' in parts of the USA. The old one was in the deep South, against black folks. Biased prosecutors twisting the law, biased judges backing them up, biased 'news' media egging them on, and biased juries going along with them made a mockery of true Justice. The same thing is happening right in front of our eyes today. It's the same types if twisting the law by evil people. The only real difference is in who -and where- the victims are. Today's victims are white conservatives in large urban areas. Trump's supporters protesting at the Capitol on Jan 6th (not the violent ANTIFA thugs and others planted by the 'RATS to cause trouble and egg on the hotheads), Trump and people who worked for him, people who tried to expose the blatant cheating in the 2020 election, today's headline victim Daniel Penny, who acted to protect people on a subway car from a crazed person who announced right there in the car that he was "going to kill someone". The thing in common between the 1950's Jim Crow era and today's Jim Crow era..... is that the DEMOCRATS WERE IN CHARGE, both in the 1950's Deep South and in today's large cities.

I am an 82 year old Southerner and can remember those days. A lot of it was unfair but also a lot of whites knew it and tried to help blacks. My father's lawyer and congressman friend got our black handyman out of IRS trouble. He had put two daughters through college yet had never filed a tax return mainly because he worked for cash didn't know he should. He thought he was going to prison but only had to pay his last year's federal tax.

FIRST ON FOX: A House GOP lawmaker wants to award a U.S. Marine veteran, accused of killing a homeless man in what he argued was the defense of himself and others, with Congress’ highest civilian honor. Rep. Eli Crane, R-Ariz., is planning to introduce a resolution to give Daniel Penny the Congressional Gold Medal, Fox News Digital was told on Friday. "Daniel Penny’s actions exemplify what it means to stand against the grain to do right in a world that rewards moral cowardice," said Crane, a retired Navy SEAL.

A Manhattan judge on Friday agreed to drop the top charge against Daniel Penny in the subway chokehold death of Jordan Neely. “We move to dismiss the top count of manslaughter in the second degree,” Assistant District Attorney Dafna Yoran told the court at around 3:30 p.m. The judge then signed off on the request — which came after jurors twice said Friday they couldn’t come to a verdict on the manslaughter rap. The 12-person panel will continue deliberating Monday on the lesser charge of criminally negligent homicide, which Penny, 26, faces in the fatal May 2023 encounter aboard an uptown F train.

President Joe Biden toured the National Museum of Slavery in Angola’s capital of Luanda on Tuesday, delivering a speech in which he described slavery as America’s “original sin” and claiming it still taints American public discourse. “The United States is founded on an idea, one embedded in our Declaration of Independence, that all men and women are created equal. It is abundantly clear today we have not lived up to that idea, but we have not fully walked away from it either,” Biden said. Biden said slavery was “cruel, brutal, dehumanizing,” an “original sin” that “haunted America and cast a long shadow ever since.”

Jordan Neely’s father is suing Daniel Penny over his son’s chokehold death on a New York City subway car as the jury still deliberates whether to convict Penny of manslaughter. The suit, filed in New York Supreme Court on Wednesday, accuses the Long Island Marine veteran of negligent contact, assault and battery that caused injuries and Neely’s death last year. Neely’s father, Andre Zachary, “demands judgment awarding damages in a sum which exceeds the jurisdictional limits of all lower Courts which would otherwise have jurisdiction,” according to the lawsuit.

Full written statement from President Joe Biden on his decision to pardon his son: Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter. From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted. Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form.

No one seems sure who first said it, maybe Joseph Goebbels, but in any case, it’s a tried-and-tested Alinskyite tactic: accuse your enemy of what you’re doing. Barack Obama is a practiced expert at this, and he gave a master class in it on Thursday at his Obama Foundation’s Orwellian-named Democracy Forum. With some notable and revealing difficulty in getting the words out, Obama accused the Republicans of doing everything that the Democrats have been doing for the past few years: rigging elections, weaponizing the justice system, and trying to ensure that they would remain in power on an indefinite basis. There are a few calendar dates that are burned into the American psyche. Some endure for good and happy reasons. Everybody knows why we celebrate July 4 and December 25. Both are part of our national identity as a free nation, the freest on Earth, founded in the Judeo-Christian tradition. Others endure for tragic reasons. November 22 saw the assassination of a president and, days later, his alleged killer, much of it brought directly into our living rooms as the first (and only) such event during the television age. September 11 was a horrifying example of murder brought about by men who hated America simply for being America.
