The New York Times Tech Guild that represents hundreds of the giant newspaper's tech staffers went on strike on Monday, one day before Election Day. The guild said in a statement that members would begin protesting outside the Times headquarters on a daily basis, beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, according to the New York Times.
The planned walkout came after a vote on Sept. 10 to go on strike at a critical juncture if a deal wasn't made: Election Week.

Not a single Democrat I speak with believes that Vice President Kamala Harris will win on Tuesday.
All hoped for an open convention in August to identify and select the best candidate possible, but they were denied. To that point, this past Thursday, The Hill featured a piece headlined, “Democrats start to point fingers even as they hope for Harris win.” A Democratic strategist is quoted as saying, “People are nervous, and they’re trying to cover their ass and get a little ahead of Election Day. It’s based on anxiety, stakes and the unique nature of this cycle. We didn’t have a traditional process for this election.

One could be forgiven for not noticing, but Vice President Kamala Harris did make her campaign’s closing argument speech Tuesday night in Washington, D.C. To be fair, the little notice it received is not entirely her fault, for as she was making her remarks to a big crowd, President Joe Biden was making his own remarks, calling all Trump supporters “garbage,” which drew everyone’s attention away from Harris.
Harris’s speech nevertheless deserves attention. This is not because it was an exception but because it was an entirely pedestrian and unexceptional dribble of words that could have been given by any other Democrat in the last 100 years.

The Democrats have been chasing the dragon for so long even they don’t know what they stand for anymore. Shaped by identity politics and social justice, Kamala Harris sure looks the part. But peel back even the surface layer, and there’s nothing - just the failed dreams of a utopia gone wrong.
No one says it better than Kenneth L. Khachigian at the Wall Street Journal:
Ms. Harris was unprepared to enter the rough and tumble of national politics and at the 11th hour relies on being propped up, as she has throughout her career, by patrons—Barack Obama, his operatives and a national media that is predominantly desperate to prevent Mr. Trump

Vice President Kamala Harris and Democrats claim they are the party of freedom. In Harris’ interview on Club Shay Shay on Monday, she argued that people need to vote for her to preserve the First, Second, and Fourth Amendments, that Trump “wants to terminate the Constitution.”
Yet, on the First Amendment, Harris previously called for government “oversight or regulation” of social media to stop what she calls misinformation. In 2022, her vice-presidential nominee, Gov. Tim Walz, claimed: “There’s no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech.”

Democratic insiders and strategists heading into the final hours of the election are expressing confidence that Vice President Kamala Harris will defeat former President Donald Trump on Tuesday at the ballot box. "Nauseously optimistic," is how Democrats described themselves to New York magazine as the clock continues ticking for the final 100 hours of the election cycle.

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) activated the National Guard to be on stand-by in the event it is asked to support local law enforcement and the Washington State Patrol during election week, a press release issued Friday said.
The National Guard will be activated from Nov. 4 to 7 until just after midnight, according to the release. The adjutant general will determine how many members of the Guard will be called.

Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib publicly refused to endorse Vice President Harris during a rally in Detroit — a critical decision that could tip the scales against Democrats in Michigan.
The move carries significant electoral implications, with Michigan part of the Democrats “blue wall” of must-win states in the 2024 presidential election.
A Trump triumph there would hamper Harris’ chances of winning the White House. Tlaib, a member of the House’s far-left “Squad,” is upset with the Biden-Harris administration’s support for Israel.
The only Palestinian-American in Congress, she has been openly supportive of Hamas during her time in office and has been censured by her colleagues for defending Hamas

With only four days to go until Tuesday’s presidential election, the poor jobs figures could not have come at a worse time for Kamala Harris.
To be sure, there were special factors that explained why the world’s biggest economy added only 12,000 new jobs in October.
Last month two severe hurricanes – Helene and Milton – hit the US. The temporary lay-offs caused by the disruption led to an estimated 20,000 to 50,000 drop in payrolled employees. Manufacturing employment fell by 46,000 – with most of the drop the result of a strike at the aerospace giant Boeing.

For 30 years, the Soviet Union was the main supporter of Cuba’s communist dictatorship, pumping into it more than $29 billion worth of money, weapons, food, oil and technology — a debt that Russia ultimately wrote off. In the 1990s, Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela became Cuba’s new lifeline for Cuba, contributing $35 billion over 15 years in oil alone.
With Venezuela in shambles, Mexico, the main U.S. trading partner, has become Cuba’s new lifeline, sending food, oil and anything else it can to support the longest-standing dictatorship in the Americas. Yet nothing is enough. Nothing can rescue Cuba’s failed communist economy.

In the last two weeks, Vice President Kamala Harris has been trying to revive her stagnant campaign by smearing Trump as being Hitlerian and a fascist. She claims Trump is planning to put his enemies in encampments.
Yet in the modern era, it was not Trump who put large numbers of U.S. residents and citizens into "relocation camps," but liberal Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt who sent Japanese-American citizens and residents into them.
If Harris refers to Trump's supposed fascist policies during his prior four-year tenure, there is no such evidence.
Nonetheless, the once "joyful" Harris is ending her campaign by trafficking in lies and smears reminiscent of the Joe McCarthy era.

CNN’s Jake Tapper gave a live fact-check of Vice President Kamala Harris after she claimed former President Trump said he would "do what he wants" whether "the women like it or not." At a rally in Phoenix, Arizona on Thursday, Harris asserted Trump will do what he wants regarding abortion restrictions and policing women’s bodies.
"Now in America, one in three women lives in a state with a Trump abortion ban, many with no exceptions, even for rape and incest, which is immoral. And Donald Trump’s not done.
