J.D. Vance and Tim Walz's first and only vice presidential debate in New York sparked fiery exchanges and interventions from the CBS moderators and Donald Trump.
Hosts Norah O'Donnell and Face the Nation host Margaret Brennan were accused of being biased after cutting Vance's mic when he hit back at a fact check on his claims on Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio.
Megyn Kelly led the fury by posting 'How Dare You! on X on a night where Vance have a strong performance and Walz had a stumbling start.

JD Vance was accurately describing the migrant crisis fueled by Kamala Harris and Joe Biden when CBS moderator Margaret Brennan decided to insert herself with a “fact check.”
“Just to clarify for our viewers, Springfield, Ohio does have a large number of Haitian migrants who have legal status,” she said smugly.
Vance was rightly annoyed by the interruption and said, “The rules were that you guys weren’t going to fact check, and since you’re fact checking me, I think it’s important to say what’s actually going on.”

NEW YORK — CBS News cut off both candidates’ microphones during Tuesday’s vice presidential debate after Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) sparred with one of the moderators on immigration before Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz decided to chime in.
Vance, 40, spoke over both moderators to make a point about Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, after he felt he was unfairly “fact-checked” by “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan. Well, Tim Walz nailed this part of the debate.
When asked about the inconsistencies and obvious lies about his travel to China, specifically his trip to Tiananmen Square, Walz called himself a knucklehead. Points for accuracy!
His answer was awkward and he seemed unready for it, which is astonishing. He had to know this was coming.

Here are the winners and losers in Tuesday’s vice presidential debate:
WINNER
Sen. J.D. Vance. Donald Trump’s running mate was confident and clearly articulated his arguments, which were usually concise and on point. He was effective in addressing viewers at home, as when he acknowledged that many viewers are worried “that the American dream is unattainable.” Mr. Vance also easily brushed aside what seemed like one-sided, and unexpected, fact-checking of him by CBS’s moderators. He quickly turned it to his advantage in a discussion of illegal immigration.
The Republican was masterful in a disarming way of paying backhanded compliments to the Democratic ticket.

Vice Presidential candidates JD Vance and Tim Walz agreed that schools need to be safer for children before the Democrat made a stunning admission.
'I got a 17-year-old and he witnessed a shooting at a community center playing volleyball,' the Minnesota governor said recounting how his son Gus, 17, witnessed a tragedy himself. 'Those things don't leave you.'
Vance was shocked by the story and immediately offered his condolences. 'I didn't know your 17-year-old witnessed a shooting. I'm sorry about that. Christ have mercy. That is awful,' the Republican said.

This is expected to be the last debate until the election on November 5.
Tim Walz will likely be given free rein to lie about his policies and Kamala Harris’ record as Vice President, while Vance is dishonestly fact-checked at every turn by unabashed moderators. Previously, J.D. Vance joked with reporters about how he was preparing for the debate, saying, “I found a good friend from back home who embellishes and lies a lot, and

The vice presidential debate wasn't even a close contest. As I've been predicting for months, JD Vance absolutely demolished Tim Walz despite having to battle the moderators at the same time. Vance was composed and ready, showing a keen intellect in the face of Walz's constant flailing and emotional outbursts. There are going to be a lot of moments that stick out, but for my money, the two best came back to back. When Walz gave a scripted answer about Kamala Harris' economic plans, Vance was ready. Has anyone noticed that CNN stands nearly alone in the mainstream media as resistant to the Kamala Harris Joy™ Revival? Perhaps they perhaps get a dose of reality from the presidential debate they moderated in June. Or maybe their Close Encounter of the Harris-Walz Kind in late August showed CNN that Gertrude Stein's observation about Oakland -- there's no there there -- applies even more to Harris.
Or maybe they just pay attention to their own data. Yesterday, Harry Enten dumped all sorts of cold water on Democrat prospects this November with Harris at the top of the ticket. Or perhaps in this context, the problem comes from the man

As I write this, the vice presidential debate between Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is living up to the hype as Vance is wiping the floor with Walz, leaving him stammering and staring as though he can't remember anything from his script except "But Trump!" The best part of the night so far, in my opinion, was when the CBS News moderators tried to "fact check" Vance on the issue of the Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, even though the rules of the debate were that the moderators weren't going to fact check each other but the candidates could.

This election cycle seems to have been going on since "The Munsters" was a primetime hit on television. I've checked and rechecked the calendar and — I kid you not — we are nearing the end of this thing. Given the amount of pro-Harris and anti-Trump B.S. we will have to wade through, these last five weeks may feel like another six months, but the end is truly nigh.
I mean the end of the election cycle, not the end of the world. Maybe.
Between now and November, I'm going to keep pushing back on a lot of the recurring false attacks on Donald Trump

Those of us on the conservative/libertarian side of the political spectrum understand how unfair presidential and vice-presidential debates can be, and as evidence, we need to look no further than the September 10th debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, in which Trump was tag-teamed by Kamala Harris and debate "moderators" Davie Muir and Linsey Davis, both of ABC News. Israel vowed retaliation for Iran’s barrage, which it said had caused only a few injuries. As we've highlighted here at PJ Media, the Biden-Harris administration's response to Hurricane Helene has been nothing short of catastrophic. It’s deeply concerning to witness the minimal action it has taken in the face of such profound loss and devastation.
While people grapple with the aftermath of the storm, the federal government appears to be indifferent, offering only the barest semblance of support, as if to create the illusion of action without genuinely addressing the suffering of those affected. And the criticism of the administration's actions — or lack thereof — is coming from both sides.

The longshoreman boss promises that his 45,000-worker strike will "cripple" the country. He makes his threat in a creepy video. Thing is, he's right that his workers' strike will put the country's economy on the ropes again — just in time for an election, hurricane clean-up, and Christmas.
Indeed, as Rick reports, the International Longshoreman Association's (ILA) members demand a 77% increase over the six-year life of the contract. So far, they have a 50% increase on the table from the consortium of companies, port bosses, and merchant groups. They don't want further automation at the ports, which, of course, puts the country on the ropes

Iran launched approximately 200 ballistic missiles at targets in Israel, Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder told reporters on Tuesday. He did not elaborate on what type of interceptors the two destroyers used. No ground-based interceptors were used.
More information will come later once analysis of the attack is completed, Ryder said.
“We condemn these reckless attacks by Iran, and we call on Iran to halt any further attacks, including from its proxy forces,” Ryder said.

At least eight people were killed when suspected terrorists opened fire near Tel Aviv on Tuesday, Israeli police said.
The deadly ordeal unfolded when two gunmen jumped off a train in the central Israeli city of Jaffa and started firing just after 7 p.m. local time, according to authorities.
The Magen David Adom ambulance service said eight were killed and at least seven wounded, the Jerusalem Post reported. Chilling surveillance footage captured the men brandishing rifles as they emerged from the train, while the bodies of blood-soaked victims were strewn on the ground nearby.
The two shooters were “neutralized” by security forces, police said.

The U.S. Department of Defense has announced that it is further reinforcing the Middle East defense posture by deploying three additional U.S. Air Force squadrons and ordering the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group to remain in the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of operations. The measures are meant to deter aggression and mitigate the risk of a broader regional conflict, said the Pentagon, as the already high tensions in the area have heightened even more following Israel’s targeted assassination of terror group Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon.

The Israeli military said very few injuries were reported after Iran launched a barrage of more than 400 ballistic missiles toward Israel on Tuesday. The Israel Defense Forces added it was safe for the public to exit bomb shelters.
The IDF announced that the missiles were launched a “short while ago” and said all Israeli civilians were waiting out the attack in bomb shelters. Sirens sounded across much of central Israel as the Iran-led attack began. No casualties were immediately reported.
Israel also vowed to respond. “We are on heightened alert on defense and offensive, we will protect the citizens of Israel. This [missile] fire will have consequences,”

Iran launched a barrage of 500 missiles at Israel on Tuesday night and sparked terror on the streets of Tel Aviv in response to the death of Hezbollah's senior leadership and the ground invasion of southern Lebanon.
Rockets lit up the sky and smashed into buildings as air sirens blared across the country just hours after the White House warned an attack was 'imminent'.
Terrifying footage showed the Iron Dome shooting down some of the rockets and sending burning fragments to the ground as Americans were urged to take cover in bomb shelters.

Now, in Tim Walz’s Minnesota, a non-citizen Muslim from Somalia has all those special rights.
I’ll assume Somali-native Officer Lesly Vera is a good woman. Now 23, she emigrated legally when she was four. Although she has been here for 19 years, we wonder how much of America she really understands, and respects.

Six months after Rep. Tony Gonzalez (R-TX) sent the Department of Homeland Security a letter asking the agency to tell Congress how many criminal noncitizens have been released into the United States, Immigration and Customs Enforcement Deputy Director Patrick Lechleitner responded late last Friday admitting that ICE is aware of more than 600,000 non-detained noncitizens with criminal histories in the country. This includes more than 400,000 convicted criminals and another 200,000 with pending criminal charges.
Of those 400,000, 13,000 had been convicted of murder, 15,000 had been convicted of sexual assault, and more than 50,000 had drug convictions.

Despite the Harris/Walz media avoidance strategy, we do know a number of things about the peculiar Tim Walz, Democrats' Vice Presidential nominee. First, he's a radical ideologue who has rammed through an extreme left-wing agenda as governor, despite razor-thin Democratic legislative majorities. Second, he lies habitually and serially about virtually everything. He's lied and misled, knowingly and repeatedly, about his military service. [snip] Walz has apparently been telling people that he was in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square massacre of 1989. As it happens, so was I. My family was living there at the time.

What most people don't know is that, originally, Starlink was approved as part of Kamala Harris' plan to connect hundreds of thousands of rural homes to the internet at broadband speeds. Not only do we have the multiple not-so-veiled threats against Trump’s life -- coming from the likes of Schumer, Pelosi, Jeffries, and their devotees -- to the stock market crash predictors who daily warn clients that somehow, ‘mysteriously,’ Trump will not be inaugurated even if elected. We also have the two actual attempts on Trump’s life thus far. We have the legal and the media and the financial wars against him.

The Kamala message isn’t working. Some of it has to do with the fact that she’s an abysmal candidate, but it’s part of the trend we saw in 2016: the Democratic Party despises and dismisses working-class voters. Once the backbone of the party, the increasingly white, wealthy, and over-educated—those who dominate the cities and coasts—have taken the wheel of liberal messaging. Their view is clear: if you’re not like us, you’re trash. Hence, the lectures, the mockery, and the denigration of working people. It’s why working-class people are flocking toward Donald Trump and the GOP, though I admit it’s not because the Republican National Committee has been wizards at messaging.

Giorgia Meloni might just be the most interesting leader on the world stage right now.
Not long ago the Italian prime minister was a fringe figure: the head of a small political party called the Brothers of Italy, which has its roots in the country’s postwar neo-fascist movement. But in the seemingly permanent turmoil of Italian politics, Meloni emerged as the leading right-populist in the country. After the right-wing coalition she led won a majority in 2022, she became the first woman to serve as Italy’s prime minister.

Perhaps to no one's surprise, the New York Times continued an unbroken string of endorsing Democrats for president that it began in 1960.
In a hard pivot, the New York Times joined the rest of the media in turning from extolling the "joy" of Kamala's campaign to harping on her character. The article declares that Donald Trump is unfit to hold office (the editorial is much more fun if you read this part aloud using your best Foghorn Leghorn voice). According to the editorial, "regardless of any political disagreements voters might have with her, Kamala Harris is the only patriotic choice for president."

Last week, Iran’s leaders found themselves in a familiar position. The Israeli airstrike that killed Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, was the latest in a series of assassinations of senior figures with ties to the regime.
In a short statement eulogising Nasrallah, Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, declared that Israel had “not become victorious” by carrying out the strike on Nasrallah, which he described as an “atrocity”. Khamenei insisted that Israel would face “more crushing” blows in retribution. But those blows are to come from the groups of the “resistance front” and not from Iran itself.

Iran’s reformist-led government has said it has no plans to send troops to reinforce Hezbollah in Lebanon, but it is coming under domestic pressure from hardliners seeking to exploit what they regard as a failure to stand up to Israel – and also hoping to block any discussion with the west over future oversight of Iran’s nuclear programme.
Calls for a tougher Iranian response redoubled when it emerged that Brig Gen Abbas Nilforushan, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) deputy commander for Lebanon and Syria, had been killed in Beirut alongside the Hezbollah chief, Hassan Nasrallah.

I realized something very important about the human condition when I was in high school.
I realized that people tend to hate those who fight evil far more than they hate those engaged in doing evil.
What made me come to this conclusion was the way in which many people reacted to communism and to anti-communism.
To my amazement, a great many people -- specifically, all leftists and many, though not all, liberals -- hated anti-communists far more than they hated communism.
Because of my early preoccupation with good and evil, already in high school, I hated communism. How could one not, I wondered.

Western North Carolina was particularly hard hit by what was left of Helene, with massive amounts of rain that overwhelmed lakes and streams and caused widespread destruction. At least 35 have been confirmed dead with 600 said to be unaccounted for in Buncombe County as of this writing. Viral video clips circulating on social media show roads that have been washed away, interstates that partially partially collapsed, businesses completely flooded, and homes and vehicles being swept away.

Hurricane Helene brought massive rainfalls and flooding at unprecedented levels, and from northern Georgia to the Southern Appalachians, to Western North Carolina, and parts of Eastern Tennessee, roads have been washed away, entire cities have been leveled, and populations devastated.
But had it not been for concerned citizens and loved ones, and some citizen journalists posting on X, the rest of the country would have been left in the dark.

Hurricane Helene has devasted a wide swath of the Southeast, especially portions of North Carolina. Of course this has nothing to do with the government. A hurricane is what used to be known, quaintly, as an act of God.
But some of us remember with bitterness how the Democratic Party press blamed President Bush for Hurricane Katrina, and used that absurd narrative to destroy Bush’s second term. The idea of holding presidents responsible for hurricanes was always ridiculous, and it has never been repeated, although the Democrats did make a halfhearted run at blaming President Trump for Hurricane Maria, which hit Puerto Rico.

PHILADELPHIA — Dockworkers at ports from Maine to Texas began walking picket lines early Tuesday in a strike over wages and automation that could reignite inflation and cause shortages of goods if it goes on more than a few weeks.
The contract between the ports and about 45,000 members of the International Longshoremen’s Association expired at midnight, and even though progress was reported in talks on Monday, the workers went on strike. The strike affecting 36 ports is the first by the union since 1977.
Workers began picketing at the Port of Philadelphia shortly after midnight, walking in a circle
