An appeals court slashed former President Trump's bond payment on Monday, saying Trump must pay $175 million within the next 10 days. Trump had previously faced a Monday deadline to pay a $454 million bond payment that came as a result of civil fraud allegations from New York Attorney General Letitia James. A New York Appeals Court, hours before the deadline to post the $454 million, lowered that bond considerably. The court ordered that Trump post $175 million within 10 days. Trump said he will "abide" by the appeals decision and post the $175 million bond.

London’s Labour Party Mayor Sadiq Khan is urging Americans not to reelect Donald Trump in what is a clear example of foreign election interference. Democrats in the United States spent years pushing the idea that foreign election interference from Russia and other international actors got Trump elected in 2016. Where are they now? Of course, anyone who has looked at what has become of London on Khan’s watch might consider this as a campaign contribution to Trump. FOX News reports:

Hurricane Helene is set to strike Florida's Gulf Coast within hours, threatening an 'unsurvivable' storm surge that would leave catastrophic damage and could deluge cities and swallow homes. Helene could roar ashore as a Category 4 hurricane by tonight, with wind speeds of up to 130mph after spending days strengthening in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, the National Hurricane Center warned. Forecasters predict Helene could bring storm surges of up to 20 feet (6 meters) and warned they could be particularly 'catastrophic and life-threatening' in Florida's Apalachee Bay. Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency ahead of the storm's arrival.

A leading child psychiatrist has won a lawsuit after he was abruptly fired for comments about gender dysphoria. Dr. Allan Josephson, 72, was tapped to head the University of Louisville's Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry more than 20 years ago. In 2017, Josephson expressed caution about gender treatments for children - leading to his termination in 2019. After being hit with a federal free speech lawsuit, the Kentucky school argued it was within its rights to fire Josephson for the criticism, aired at a Heritage Foundation panel. Now that he's been vindicated, his message for academia is 'tolerance is a two-way street.'

You have to wonder what world the puppet masters controlling Kamala Harris live in. It’s not our world. It’s not the universe of normal people. Maybe it’s because her handlers are robots stamped out of the commie college conformity factories. Maybe they are just stupid. Maybe they are insane. Regardless, you have to wonder just what the hell they are thinking when they try to appeal to regular voters.Campaigns regularly trumpet their endorsements, with Democrats getting particularly excited about the ones from various unions. That went south for Kamala not long ago when a poll of Teamster members showed that she came in third in the preference race

Some 127 Pizza Hut restaurants across five states in the South and Midwest are at risk of closing for good. The franchisee who runs them has put them up for sale after filing for bankruptcy in July due to mounting debts.. It is all linked to a major financial bust-up between Pizza Hut's parent company and franchisee EYM Group. Some 15 Pizza Hut locations that EYM ran in Indiana and Ohio were abruptly shuttered at the end of June as a result of the dispute. They remain closed. EYM has now asked advisory firm National Franchise Sales to help find a buyer for a further 127

Stephanie Ruhle appeared on Friday on Bill Maher's "Real Time" show and, incredibly, argued that people shouldn't demand or expect answers from Kamala Harris on the issues since she was running against former President Donald Trump. It was a ridiculous position for someone who claimed to be a journalist arguing against the questioning of a presidential candidate because she supported her. So perhaps it's not surprising that Harris who has given very few interviews then gave Ruhle an interview. Harris no doubt thought she could walk through a softball interview with Ruhle after what Ruhle said. She knew she could count on not being pressed, given what Ruhle said.

A new CBS/YouGov poll released Wednesday has former President Donald Trump leading Democrat Kamala Harris by two points. The poll of 1,441 registered voters shows Trump with a 51 percent to 49 percent lead. This is the latest in a string of polls showing Trump leading by between one and four points in Georgia; see here and here. The CBS/YouGov poll called the 2020 race in Georgia on the money. The entire poll is at the bottom of the post, but I think there are some interesting items that need highlighting. I think this poll undercounts Trump's strength in Georgia.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams is facing federal criminal charges, according to CBS News, the BBC's US partner. Adams, 64, was elected to lead the most populous US city nearly three years ago on a promise to rein in crime. But he and a string of top officials in his orbit have faced growing scrutiny as part of multiple federal corruption probes. The indictment remains sealed but would make Adams, 64, the first mayor in city history to be charged while in office.

Hooters - known for its scantily-clad waitresses - is the latest American restaurant chain facing financial problems. Bosses at the chain are in urgent talks with lenders and advisers as the popular chain tries to address $300 million of debts, Bloomberg reported Wednesday. Earlier this year, Hooters shuttered around 40 'underperforming' restaurants including locations Florida, Kentucky, Rhode Island, Texas and Virginia as it bid to cut costs. But debts are mounting and more drastic action is needed for the 41-year-old brand. If Hooters cannot refinance its debt, it would have to consider bankruptcy and more closures.

Vice President Kamala Harris gave a long pause during her interview on MSNBC when she faced a question over how she would pay for her economic plans. The moment came early in the interview where Harris batted away slow-pitch questions such as 'can we trust you?' Interviewer Stephanie Ruhle asked Harris, who was giving her first network TV interview since securing her party's nomination, how she would pay for her economic plans. 'If you can't raise corporate taxes or if GOP takes control of the Senate, where do you get the money to do that,' her interviewer asked, after Harris outlined some of her plans like a $6,000 credit

On January 6, 2021, nearly five hours passed between the breach of the Capitol perimeter and the arrival of a National Guard contingent ready and waiting to deploy just ten minutes away. Had the National Guard arrived within that first hour, “January 6” would have no more historical resonance than any other day on the calendar. Any number of people bear the blame for this calamitous security failure, but that list does not include the two most frequently cited scapegoats, the D.C. National Guard or President Donald Trump. Of the thousands of words of sworn testimony, some of the most revealing came from Colonel Earl Matthews.
