In what’s likely his final speech to the United Nations General Assembly, President Biden said on Tuesday that he thinks “every day” about the 13 Americans who died in a suicide bombing at Kabul’s airport — as Secretary of State Antony Blinken faces a possible House panel contempt vote later in the day.
“Thirteen brave Americans lost their lives, along with hundreds of Afghans in a suicide bomb. I think [of] those lost lives — I think [of] them every day,” said Biden, 81, stumbling over his script.
Biden called his August 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan “a hard decision, but the right decision” during the lengthy speech,

The U.S. is sending additional troops to the Middle East in response to a sharp spike in violence between Israel and Hezbollah forces in Lebanon that has raised the risk of a greater regional war, the Pentagon said Monday.
Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder would provide no details on how many additional forces or what they would be tasked to do. The U.S. currently has about 40,000 troops in the region.
“In light of increased tension in the Middle East and out of an abundance of caution, we are sending a small number of additional U.S. military personnel forward to augment our forces that are already in the region.

"Zero Dark Thirty" was a pretty solid movie. I liked it because the producers and director didn’t sugarcoat the way that CIA operatives treated terrorists. Terrorists deserved their fate. The composite protagonist “Maya” was a CIA analyst who worked tirelessly to bring justice down on Osama Bin Laden — AKA a bullet to the brain.
After Maya had fingered where Bin Laden was, she met with Leon Panetta, the then-head of the CIA. Panetta was portrayed by James Gandolfini. I don’t object to artistic license when actors portray real people, but Gandolfini was a big man: 6’1” and intimidating. He looked intimidating just standing still. Panetta,

Multiple reports on Sunday and Monday indicated, citing unnamed sources, that attempts by the administration of President Joe Biden to end Israel’s self-defense operations against the jihadist terrorist organization Hamas in Gaza have not yielded any significant progress.
Both Israel and Hamas reportedly rejected the latest attempts at a ceasefire deal from the White House, the Times of Israel reported on Sunday, suggesting that the Israeli government politely raised “reservations” with the proposed agreement, while Hamas terror leaders “flatly rejected” the deal. The proposed deal appears to be the result of a visit to Egypt, a core mediator, by Secretary of State Antony Blinken

An emotional President Joe Biden dabbed away tears Monday evening before he applauded Bill and Hillary Clinton for their uncommon “decency” then cooed “I love you” to the former first lady for publicly defending him.
The octogenarian was attending the Clinton Global Initiative’s summit but was not listed to speak before the elite gathering. The New York Post (NYP) reports he appeared there in support of Jill Biden before being called to the stage himself to accept a Global Citizen award. “This is what you call being trapped,” Biden declared before thanking the former first couple for their support.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy flew into a key U.S. swing state this week on a taxpayer-funded aircraft after publicly criticizing former President Donald Trump and Republican Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance.
Zelenskyy touched down in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on Sunday in a U.S. Air Force C-17A aircraft and toured a local munitions factory that has been producing armaments for Ukraine amid the country’s ongoing war against Russia. During his visit, Zelenskyy met with high-level Democratic Pennsylvania officials such as Gov. Josh Shapiro, Sen. Bob Casey and Rep. Matt Cartwright and expressed his gratitude “for their support.”

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio, WJW-TV [Cleveland, OH] - In the state of Ohio, private citizens have the ability to legally file criminal charges. Tuesday, a Haitian nonprofit called Haitian Bridge Alliance did just that, bringing criminal charges against former President Donald Trump and Ohio Sen. JD Vance [Snip] The bench memorandum and supporting affidavit filed at Clark County Municipal Court comes following unfounded claims from both men regarding the large immigrant population in Springfield, Ohio. The attorney for the organization says there is probable cause the two committed crimes and they want a judge to affirm that, file charges and issue arrest warrants for both men.

The far-left Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock has claimed that rules in Georgia forcing the hand counting of ballots is a subversion of democracy.
In an interview with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki, Warnock made the case that common sense election integrity rules are a ploy by Republicans to steal the momentum from Kamala Harris.
“The news that Georgia voters [ought to be] paying attention to is this, the fact that they are doing this, means that they know we’re winning,” Warnock said.
“They know that the momentum is with Kamala Harris, and this effort to turn the democracy on its head, so that rather than the voters picking their representatives,

A mentally ill gunman who killed 10 people at a Colorado supermarket was sentenced Monday to life in prison for murder after his family told the court they thought he was possessed by an 'evil spirit.' Ahmad Alissa's attempt to avoid prison time by pleading not guilty by reason of insanity was rejected by the jury, as victims' relatives recounted in pained testimony the lives he destroyed in the 2021 attack in the college town of Boulder.
