My flak jacket is on as I write this since I am sure to offend or p*** off some friends, family, and colleagues who are ostensibly Republicans or conservatives but have a visceral aversion to Donald Trump.
Some tell me they are Republican and miss Ronald Reagan but also admit they “couldn’t” vote for Donald Trump in either 2016 or 2020. Nothing says one is Republican like voting for a liberal Democrat.
This is the NeverTrump wing of the Republican Party, emerging shortly after Trump secured the GOP nomination in 2016. Reasons for NeverTrump-ism are myriad.
Some were offended by his mean tweets, name-calling, and brash Queens personality.

Any and every republican who refuses to pull a straight "R" this election season (I may extend some grace on a down ticket if that person is horrid or a crook) is casting their vote to make America... AmeriKA... they are voting (even if they don't vote) for a communist take over of our country... Yes, it is that simple... so every NeverTrumper - Shut up and vote straight ticket republican... we will listen to anything you have to say right now... our country is at stake!

FTA: When you are dying from some strange disease that no one can diagnose or treat, who do you want caring for you? You could have warm, empathetic, fatherly Dr. Marcus Welby, who doesn’t know what’s wrong with you but holds your hand as you die. Or you could have rude, abrasive, obnoxious Dr. Gregory House who, while making fun of you with zero bedside manner, makes the correct diagnosis and prescribes the proper treatment, allowing you to walk out of the hospital a week later."
There are many excellent quotes in this article, but the above is one of my favorites.
Really, what do you want? A politician with smooth platitudes who sits there DOING nothing, or a leader who swings the machete and clears a path?

I'm not overly optimistic with Rinos come election time since the Enemedia did their job well in convincing them President Trump is mean, racist, dictatorial, etc.,...
Many of them would be thrown into a fit of apoplexy voting for President Trump, so I suspect quite a few will do the unthinkable, vote for Cackles, or stay at home.

“Trump is Trump, his personality almost 80 years in the making. He will not suddenly become Ronald Reagan, with a smooth voice and disarming charm. But so what? Trump’s brashness is a breath of fresh air compared to career politicians who offer a word salad of platitudes and promises while actually accomplishing nothing.”
Great article, OP. The second half of the article gives a whopping, one-two punch right to the chops of republicans that refuse to get onboard the Trump train. (Oops…was that too much like President Trump?)

Joondeph doesn't present anything new but does an excellent job of presenting the case against Never Trumpers. For me, Never Trumpers are not really Republicans, especially not conservative Republicans but are really Democrats who call themselves Republicans - i.e. spies if you will.

A former GOP chairwoman for our County's Republican Party is now co- chairing the Republicans for Harris initiative in PA. In an interview she stated that she "cannot trust PDJT to do what is right for the country". She believes the Kamunist will be a president she can trust. She also indicated that Trump lacks character for the position. I guess Kam's shenanigans with Willie Brown etc. as a way to climb the career ladder doesn't bother her one bit.
Her favorite Republicans in the past had been John McCain and Jeff Flake so there's a clue that she lacks critical thinking skills. Hopeless.

For most of Trump's life he was a Democrat living and working in NYC which is run by Democrats.
For most of that time the Democrats in NYC loved him, wanted his attention and campaign contributions. He was viewed by some as the Prince of NYC even.
Some may not like how brash Trump is about some people or some things, but he's only pushing back the way he knew he had to in tough NYC, right?
I saw this on Rantingly today and thought it really summed things up and should be repeated regularly by the RNC (and maybe even Trump himself):
IOWA VOTER: "I see Kamala and I see Walz as being SO FAR LEFT that it concerns me."
"I'm comfortable with Trump. We had four years of Trump — we know what Trump is. I'm not voting for him to be my Valentine." pic.twitter.com/2oE2d1IPa5

I'm not voting for him to be my Valentine is true of nearly all politicians.
Trump should talk about how he wants to fix things not just keep expanding programs that aren't fixing things.
And, ask why Democrats just don't want to fix things (put them on the defensive).

I dont like nor have any use for "never trumpers". At the same time, when some clown tells me to "put on my big boy pants" I tend to get hostile real fast. If you cant convince me of your position without belittling me with your cutsey, clever little phrases, you have no argument. Insulting those who you hope to influence is a losing strategy.

The NeverTrumpers are merely part of the same group in the GOPe that only cares about tax cuts and helping their donors profit off the next foreign war. We called them Bushies, who are very much alive and well in my Texas, BTW. We called them Rockefeller Republicans at one time.
I have no use for these openly NeverTrumpers but I am also concerned about the Repubs out there once NT’s. Yes, some have had a genuine conservative conversion but some are saying whatever. They are sidling up to MAGA and will stab Trump in the back again when it’s convenient later. They prefer to try and fight MAGA takeover of the party from within.
