Former President Donald Trump spoke about how “a lot of people” do not have the funds to be able to afford “a whole cart” of groceries.
“We’ve got to get the prices down,” Trump told Elon during a live interview on X. “You know, when I look at bacon costing four or five times more than it did a few years ago. When you look at some of the food products in grocery stores, people know — they can’t believe it. They used to be able to buy a whole cart, and today, a lot of people just don’t have the money. They go in and they can’t buy anything.”

I have money enough to eat, but I have to be selective about what it is. Most beef is off my list
Hamburger is about the best I can do with beef. Even a nice Chuck pot roast is out of my price range.
New York strip steak was $15.99 last week.
I used to get a can of Vienna sausage ate Dollar Tree for $1,00 for 2 cans., It's $1.14 a can at Food Lion.
Even chicken is expensive now.

NY strip was $8.00/lb last week. I bought one. Cooked and ate every morsel. Cannot remember the last time I ate a steak. Lots of people can afford cartloads of groceries thank to food stamps/SNAP cards. Their carts are loaded with shrimp, steak, sodas, snack cakes. The rest of us buy whatever is on sale. Or cheap.

Funny you should mention Chuck Pot Roast, #1. Talking to a Friend last evening about prices at Publix. She said she picked up a nice Chuck Roast to have for dinner that evening. Looking at the price of $38, she put it back! Now this is not someone who couldn't afford that Roast if she really wanted it, but it is also someone who said, "enough is enough"! She simply refused to pay those prices anymore! I do the same thing. I buy a lot of BOGO items. Sometimes I have a problem with storing them, but eventually, we use those items. They don't go to waste ! I feel so sorry for Seniors who are living on a slim Budget, or a Mom of Five kids trying to put good food on the table for their Children. People who are going to vote for Kamala are simply Stupid! If they want to live like this, they are Crazy! It's only going to get worse under the Democrats in control again. I'm definitely not a Trump Lover, but I'm smart enough to vote for him because this is probably the worse I've seen things in my 83 years in this world.

Re #3, I am not a wealthy senior but we are OK. That said, if I see something that seems overpriced, I just put it back. It's a perception that the price is not worth the product's benefit. As more and more people decline to buy, the market will correct. It may correct in unpleasant ways...depression following hyperinflation. I would not be looking to open a new retail business at this time.

Cripes. I just went to the grocery store. Just me, the wife and a kid who is heading back to college in a week or so.
I keep looking for that "Cover Charge $200" sign at the grocery store. I know it's there.

And when you check out, your groceries are bagged by an 80 year old (previously retired) man or woman.
Not that Biden cares. Come next January, he will have his mansion, his beach house, government pensions and healthcare. The SS will be there to keep out the riff raff. Finally, after the next AG goes after him for accepting bribes from foreign governments, he will be deemed unfit to stand trial.

I'm no longer wealthy. I am alone in this world. Since the price of animal proteins are astronomical (Coincidence?) I have taken to dried chick peas from my Walmart. Speaking of, does anyone remember empty shelves at Walmart before Obama? I don't.
