Vice President Kamala Harris has not given one interview or press conference to the media in the 17 days since she joined the presidential race.
She has given a few speeches, in which she has repeated the same script — first to campaign headquarters, then to party supporters in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she introduced running mate Tim Walz on Tuesday.
Her only unscripted remarks came last week at Andrews Air Force Base, when she joined President Joe Biden to welcome Americans who had been freedom from Russia in a prisoner swap.
Harris, in her characteristic style, made circular remarks

Donald Trump praised Tim Walz’s response as Minnesota governor to civil justice protests in 2020, undercutting a Republican line of attack against the newly minted vice presidential candidate, according to a recording that emerged Wednesday.
Trump — who wanted state authorities to take tough measures to address the civil unrest that erupted around the nation in response to the killing by police of George Floyd in Minneapolis — told governors on a conference call that Walz responded well.
“I know Gov. Walz is on the phone, and we spoke, and I fully agree with the way he handled it the last couple of days,” he said,

Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz have adopted an interesting strategy for winning the presidency. The campaign is showcasing a conspicuous shift in tone and strategy: Projecting an image of positivity and joy.
It appears the media has already gotten the memo and is actively helping to brand the Harris/Walz campaign as “happy warriors” fighting for the American people. It’s an interesting approach, but will it be enough to secure a victory for Harris?
When Harris announced Walz as her running mate in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the two candidates adopted a more positive messaging approach. “We are joyful warriors,” Harris declared to raucous applause

I argued with anyone who said that, just because "President" Biden had chosen not to run for re-election, he was therefore unfit to serve out his term as president and needed to step down at once. My argument was that it's perfectly possible for an 82-year-old to be a fit leader for another five months while also acknowledging that another four and a half years would be too much. And I stand by that argument because it was always hypothetical; it could be true for any 82-year-old.

Pro-Palestinian activists vandalized the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s (AIPAC) Washington, D.C., headquarters on Monday, writing “F*** Israel” on the building in red paint.
Footage obtained by the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and reported by Jewish Insider shows three masked individuals vandalizing the building early Monday morning. The department has since asked “for the community’s help to identify the suspects involved in a Destruction of Property offense in Northwest.”
Palestine Action, a U.K.-based activist group founded to shut down arms dealers in Britain, applauded the crime on social media, though it is unknown if members of the group were involved.

The latest Hollywood script revision has dropped — it’s Tim Walz, not Josh Shapiro — and left-wing celebrity influencers are falling in line to learn their new talking points: he’s “awesome,” “irresistible,” “strong,” and a “winner.”
There’s a “joyous feeling” going around the country. Even, “I’m Walzing on air!”
As recently as yesterday, Hollywood elites seemed pretty convinced that Kamala Harris was going to pick Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) as her vice presidential running mate. Deadline even reported that Shapiro’s name was “echoed around town” as an almost certainty.

Secret Service canine teams on the morning of January 6, 2021, failed to detect a pipe bomb placed outside the Democratic National Committee building in Washington, D.C., ahead of then–vice president-elect Kamala Harris’s visit, according to a new watchdog report.
An unidentified person placed the pipe bomb outside the building on the night of January 5, 20 feet from where Harris would later enter, in a bush that was not included in the Secret Service’s security sweeps, the Department of Homeland Security’s office of the inspector general (OIG) said in a report released last week.

Ukraine’s surprise incursion into Russia’s Kursk region has continued into a second day, prompting Vladimir Putin to convene a meeting with his top defence and law enforcement officials.
A report from one Russia military blogger suggested Ukrainian forces had advanced northwards, possibly as far as nine miles (15km) from the border, along a highway north of the border village of Sverdlikovo and near a major natural gas transmission hub, but this could not be verified. Official and unofficial Russian sources reported that a force of several hundred soldiers had crossed a lightly defended part of the border on Tuesday morning, in what appears to be one of the largest

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour shows in Vienna have been canceled due to what Austrian police say was a planned terrorist attack targeting the concerts.
"With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety," Barracuda Music, an event organizer in the city, posted on Instagram Wednesday evening. Taylor Nation, an Instagram account affiliated with Swift's team, reposted the message to its story.
According to the post, all tickets will be refunded and ticket holders can visit a website to request refunds.

The concept in journalism of offering your platform for a diversity of voices and alternative opinions is generally a noble pursuit. But this does not mean that in that process, you need to abandon the use of common sense and subjective editorial oversight. I say this because it appears that at the New York Times, they just flung open their op-ed space to anyone with a modicum of literacy while displaying a rather imbalanced mindset.
I say this based on a recent “guest essay” that appeared in the opinion pages of the Times, written by book author Belle Boggs. Her entry is about an episode that transpired inside her home,

Wednesday morning, Senator JD Vance was giving public remarks on the campaign trail when he mentioned his opponent Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and his "controversial" military service record. Vance then laid into Walz, essentially calling him a coward, and rightly so, when he mentioned Walz's decision to abandon his troops right before they deployed to Iraq in 2004. To be perfectly clear, I 100 percent agree with Vance in his remarks, though because I am not running for Vice President of the United States, I would be much more colorful in my language describing Walz and his shameful behavior. Walz is absolutely a coward and a liar, and

The number of abortions performed in the U.S. has increased since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion nationwide, a report released Wednesday found.
In the first three months of 2024, an average of 98,990 abortions were performed per month, according to a new study by the pro-choice Society of Family Planning (SFP), compared to 84,000 per month in the two months before the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision in June 2022.
Although abortions have decreased in the 14 states with abortion restrictions, they increased in states with liberal abortion access,
