Fox News legal analyst Jonathan Turley said Monday on Fox News Channel’s “America Reports” that he does not see how former President Donald Trump’s guilty verdict can be sustained.
Co-host Sandra Smith said, “I want to move on to the Trump latest, because here we are, Monday, fresh off the Trump trial and the guilty verdict for the former president.” She asked, “Where do you see it going now that you’ve had a weekend to think about it?” Turley said, “Few people outside of Manhattan have a lot of faith in the New York system right now. Former President Trump may have some slow sliding initially on appeal but

I'll posit my theory that Merchan set this up to fail at the appeal level to save face.

If Biden were to pardon Trump immediately, that would preempt the appeals process and get this steaming pile of cow dung off news cycle. Dems could continue to declare Trump "the only President ever convicted of a felony." Biden would appear magnanimous and it might soften the outrage when he pardons his son.

Most people still speak in terms of the United States still having a functioning government and legal system. It's dead, Jim. The new normal is evil, lawfare, corruption and a push toward communism and the new world order. The rules have changed and the gloves need to come off.

If there were ANY Attorneys in New York, that would include all jurists (what a joke), with a modicum of integrity they would have spoken up months ago: ergo, not a single individual member of the Bar in New York in not entirely CORRUPT! I gotta wonder how many convicts will be able to have their convictions reversed because of the dearth of fair trials in that venue? It's time to "Bud Light " everything from New York and ALL New Yorkers!

The Deep State didn't set this up to be simply overturned on appeal. The pipeline has been poisoned all the way up. In spite of a Conservative majority at the SCOTUS there will be attempt to derail the Court's accepting the case This case should have been thrown out in a nano second. The fact that it was not should be an indication of things to come. I see imprisonment by house arrest and a SCOTUS waiting patiently as the matter winds it's way through the appellate process.

Turley didn't see how they'd convict, either.

Well sorry John but I don't see how he could even be charged, much less convicted.

Since they have presided over the destruction of America, anyone who is still a Democrat should be considered TREASONOUS...
That includes hypocrites like Turley!

The judge in the trial is the worst villian in the bunch. He is supposed to make certain that the trial is fair instead, he made it impossible for the jury to rule in Trumps favor.

I get somewhat amused at the intellectuals who naively insist the verdict should be overturned because of so many errors in the trial. For all their intelligence and wise counsel, they don't yet realize that we are not operating by the usual rules. If we were the charges would never have been brought. The judge would have recused himself. Certain testimony that wasn't allowed, such as the FEC expert, would have been permitted. Under ordinary procedure perhaps the guilty verdict would not be sustained, but things are far from ordinary.

I do. The appellate judges are terrified of the Democrat machine so they will just make it up.

Most NY appellate judges are Dems. The real problem is that they are also elected. They will fear being voted out if they overturn the conviction. This has to somehow be moved to the federal court system.

Mouse voiced Turley don't see how this conviction will stand up on appeal, then other times says he don't see how an appeal will be successful in the NY appeals process. So when will it end, Turley? Are we to wait 2 years while this works through your court system, which has fallen into total disgrace, as has your lawyerly profession?

It doesn't matter that the conviction will be thrown out on appeal. The entire goal was to do whatever was necessary to convict Trump of something - anything - before the election, so democrats can call Trump a "convicted felon." If the democrat hack judge sentences Trump to prison it will just be a bonus. Any appeals will not be heard until long after the election is over.

Turley still appears to live in a world populated with honest judges who follow the law. This doesn't seem to exist in the state of New York.
