The Manhattan court docket says it’s the “People of the State of New York v. Donald J. Trump.”
Legally, yes, but in a larger truth, no. As the case nears the finish line, it increasingly feels as if New York itself is on trial.
Only a top-quality case, beyond reproach and political taint, should have been used to bring the first-ever indictment of a former president. Instead, the city and state put on a show trial long on theatrics–porn star testifies about sex! — and short on evidence that any crime was actually committed.
And so the script has flipped, with the trial itself an assault on the notion that justice is blind.

What does it take to make a good society? In the West, not only liberals, but even conservatives of the activist disposition, have tended to think that we have really succeeded in creating a just society, if not a “good society,” in the Platonic-idealist (and illiberal) sense. As outlined in his dialogue Republic, Socrates’s famous pupil originally envisioned an ascetic warrior society without the right to family and private property. We have gone about it in another way. Arguably, the Western society, a product of innumerable, intertwined trade-offs, represents the pinnacle of social adaptation and civilized compliance. Resting on a foundation of Judeo-Christian ethics and ideas of the Enlightenment,

This week, a lot of people and institutions got “punked,” that is, humiliated, by their own actions. Of course, the eternal punkees, as Hussein Aboubakar so brilliantly notes, are those who bought the Nakba myth by which Arab rulers instrumentalized the Palestinians for their own ends, a myth which ended with the Abraham Accords.
There are so many hoist by their own petard this week, I’m faced with an embarrassment of riches. Let’s start with the attack on Justice Samuel Alito. The Left simply cannot abide the fact that it doesn’t control all branches of the government, and threatens to pack the court and, barring that,

On Friday, May 24, as Chicagoans prepared for the Memorial Day weekend, Mayor Brandon Johnson and police superintendent Larry Snelling spoke to reporters, asking them to pass on a message to the public:
“Parents, please, know where your children are. They’re out of school for the summer, and they should have fun, but they need to do so safely and responsibly.”
Fifty years ago, such a statement would have meant, “Make sure your kids don’t play with dangerous fireworks, or go joyriding, or risk breaking a window with a baseball, or running out in a busy street.”
No longer.

Why do scientists just repeat that the science is "settled" on climate change?
Follow the money.
Scientists get their funds cut off if they tell the truth that the climate has changed cyclically and naturally.
Why did the media and other Democrats shut people up on COVID and do what teachers unions want?
Again, follow the money. The got federal funds for endorsing their positions, despite the harm their positions were doing to the economy and to schoolchildren.
They sure didn't care about science or the kids.
Why don't Democrats and the media care that Biden dictatorially and unconstitutionally pays off student loans that go to rewarding universities that push leftist policies?

President Joe Biden on Saturday told graduates of the U.S. Military Academy that their class is being called upon to tackle threats across the globe and preserve the country’s ideals at home “like none before.”
Biden said the phrase, the class motto, was apt for the sorts of challenges they will take as newly minted Army second lieutenants, from supporting Ukraine’s defense against Russia’s invasion to facilitating humanitarian assistance into Gaza and defending Israel from attacks by Iran. “There’s never been a time in history when we’ve asked our military to do so many different things in some many different places around the world, all at the same time,” Biden said.

The position of Hungary in the Ukraine vs Russia conflict has been consistently pragmatic. Ukraine is NOT a NATO country, and when the USA essentially demanded that all NATO member states join in a unified mission against Russia, to promote the specific interests of the United States, it never made sense. Hungary has maintained a consistent position that NATO is a defensive partnership that should not seek conflict and war outside its member state boundaries. However, the USA has previously used its leadership role in NATO to pressure member states to join in conflict outside the NATO boundaries, ie. Iraq and Libya.

Former President Donald Trump's rally is on in the South Bronx, and it's driving the Democrats crazy that so many people have come out to hear him in the deep blue area. Maybe it isn't so "deep blue" after all when you see the number of people coming out to see him. It was driving Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) mad to have it right in her backyard; her district is nearby. She threw a fit about it, trying to say he was there because he had to be in New York for the ridiculous lawfare against him, not realizing what she was essentially admitting about election interference.

[I]n 2023, the ANC, on behalf of the South African government, brought charges of genocide against Israel in the International Court of Justice (ICJ). This case seems to be another fatuous endeavour by the ANC for prominence....
[T]he ANC has effectively "turned its back on Western values, and expressed its support for countries and organisations that subscribe to terror as a measure and method of governance."

[E]verything Western, regarded as colonialist or imperialist, must be destroyed and recreated according to atheist, socialist, dogma... in pursuit of a revolutionary version of pseudo-egalitarian social justice.

Amal Clooney, the stylish, Lebanese-British wife of a Hollywood hunkster, a Dior-clad champion of the downtrodden and oppressed, has proven herself to be a colossal phony. And a dangerous one.
As a self-described human-rights lawyer, Amal, 46, is chief architect and booster of the shameful indictment of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes before the International Criminal Court.
As an afterthought, the Amal-led body also brought forth arrest warrants for the leaders of Hamas, creating a moral equivalency between terrorists who slaughtered, raped and kidnapped more than 1,200 Israelis and tourists without provocation,

The International Criminal Court is seeking arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on war crime charges.

The Netherlands-based International Criminal Court on Monday exposed itself as a deeply antisemitic and politicized institution that ignores facts and jurisdiction to conduct lawfare against democracies that defend themselves against terrorism.
American policy should now turn toward pressuring allies to defund this kangaroo court and imposing financial sanctions to grind its operations to a halt.
The ICC’s indictment of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes has nothing to do with law and everything to do with lawfare –

President Joe Biden and the Democratic National Committee said Monday that they raised more than $51 million in April, falling well short of the $76 million that Donald Trump and the Republican Party reported taking in for the month.
Biden’s reelection campaign said it had $192 million in cash-on-hand as of the end of last month, which it said was higher than any Democratic candidate in history. But that was also roughly the same amount it reported having at the end of the year’s first quarter on March 30 — suggesting the campaign was spending funds as quickly as it raised them.
April’s totals were also down sharply from March,
