The Gutless Old Party

When I’m sometimes foolish enough to state a political view while out in public -- you can’t be held in jail without bail for talking about January 6, can you? -- the person I’m speaking with typically responds, “Oh, so you must be a Republican!”
And I laugh heartily, and shake my head no.
The Democrats may very well want to off unborn babies; encourage adolescents to lop off their breasts or penises; counsel African-Americans to expect financial reparations from Whitey as penitence for past offenses; allow any Tom, Dick or Juan to waltz into this country unvetted

Not gutless.
Complicit.
Whether bribed, blackmailed or otherwise corrupted, they are all in on it.
Every one of them.

Sad, but true.
I find it easier to say what the Democrats stand for.
What do the Republicans stand for?
The first thing the Republicans have to do is so themselves to be an alternative to Democratic policies. Still waiting for that.
The Republicans finally get a real alternative in the form of Donald Trump and look at what the Republicans did to him.
We do not really have a two-party form of government.
Not sure we really have a government considering the limitations they put on themselves with regard to whom they represent. (Hint: The people they represent are very very rich)

THIS is why there's no hope anymore. We don't have a two party system. It's the "democrats" and the "complicits". One big bucket of nothing. This is why we have been slipping and sliding into the cesspit over the last 90 years, since the creation of the administrative state. No matter how hard we scratch and clutch, it just gets inevitably worse on a daily basis. It explains why no matter who I vote for, things just get worse. The Constitution is just so much pretty toilet paper now. We the peons are on our way to being we the serfs. Y'all DO understand that the ballot box ain't gonna save us, right? We've been trying that for the last 50 years, with abject failure to show for it.
If Trump wins, he will be at the helm as we sink, and if that's all I can get, I'll take it.

Nicely written, full of facts and would-be humor, if it weren’t all true. Oh, for a few more DJT type patriots in our congress. Fear of incarceration is a big disincentive. Hopefully they exist at the ballot box.

Pete, that's why it's called the Uniparty.
FTA: "GOP politicians, on the other hand, harrumph loudly, demand investigations..."
Before there was Jim Jordan, we had Trey Gowdy. Yapping poodles.

A copy of this should be put in every Republican's Congressional Mailbox! It is so true that it hurts. I'm 83 and have seen a lot in my time, but nothing comes close to the damage the Democrats have done to this country in just a few years. Our only hope is for Trump to slash and burn when he gets back to the White House. He won't have to care what anyone thinks since he won't be running again. Only then would anyone have a chance of cleaning up the mess Biden has made. I think Trump is exactly the guy who can shove it down Biden's Throat!

This is a blistering and well-deserved catalogue of failure. I used to call them the 'Gelded Obama Patsies'.

Everything said in this article is true. Conservatives do not have a party, and should form one. We have had a century of trying to get anything done with the GOP, and it will never happen, I don't care how many "elections" there are. Voters have no say in the candidates, no say in how this country is ran. It's all a scam of pretended legitimacy for these governments.

McArdle’s article captured all of my thoughts nicely, including Sir Robin. We can go back even farther - Trent Lott, Arlen Specter and their ilk. My other question is, why do they bother? Part of the answer comes at the end; getting filthy rich while getting a sub $200K salary.
But still, why? Why don’t they just run as Democrats and be done with us? Maybe because they’re too pathetic for the other party. Maybe when the Dems sufficiently protect democracy until only they can win elections, they’ll throw their formerly useful idiots under the bus and out them.
