Actor Jeff Daniels said Friday on MSNBC’s “Deadline” that he believed midwesterners were done with former President Donald Trump’s “lack of decency.”
On the New York business document trial, Daniels said, “I know this is costing him where I live in Michigan. This is costing him votes.”
He continued, “There’s just a lack of decency that Donald has kind of hitched his wagon to. He keeps telling us these things. You know, I mean, I look at the trial every day, and you watch what happens in the trial, and then you watch him talk about it like it was an amazing day. No, it wasn’t. It really wasn’t.

Pro-Palestinian protesters taking part in an encampment at Princeton University began a hunger strike to raise awareness for starving people in Gaza.
The Princeton Israeli Apartheid Divest (PIAD) student organization posted a series of photos on Instagram announcing that pro-Palestinian protests would be launching a hunger strike “in solitary with Gaza.”
“PRINCETON STUDENTS LAUNCH HUNGER STRIKE IN SOLIDARITY WITH GAZA!!” the group wrote.
PIAD explained that as part of the hunger strike, protesters would “abstain from all food and drink” except for water until their demands were met.
“We commit our bodies to their liberation of Palestine,” the group continued. “PRINCETON, hear us now! We will not be moved!”

A video of what is purported to be Ukrainian soldiers burning Donald Trump in effigy is causing quite a stir.
In the clip, three soldiers are seen standing with a cardboard Trump lookalike as they deliver a message directly to the former president, essentially threatening Trump’s life for opposing the war with Russia — the 2024 presumptive Republican nominee has boasted that he would end the conflict in 24 hours with a brokered peace deal.
“We address Donald Trump. Because of you b*****d President Zelenskyy couldn’t get any weapons. You will never be president again. You are a traitor. You will pay with your blood for what you did,”

Actor Robert De Niro said Thursday on MSNBC’s “The 11th Hour” that former President Donald Trump’s rise was like that of Adolf Hitler’s in 1930s Germany.
De Niro said, “He is sick, he is genuinely a sick person that somehow has been allowed into our system. I’m not calling him names, he just can’t be anywhere near the office of the presidency.”
He continued, “I don’t understand it. I don’t I don’t think they understand how dangerous it will be if he ever, God forbid, becomes president. I don’t think they really understand. And historically, from what I see, even in Nazi Germany, they had it with Hitler.

President Joe Biden doled out Presidential Medals of Freedom Friday to a number of top Democrats - giving a special shout-out to former Vice President Al Gore for conceding his disputed 2020 election gracefully.
Of the 19 new recipients receiving the country's top civilian honor, five were party leaders: Gore, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, former Secretary of State John Kerry, Rep. Jim Clyburn - who single-handedly saved Biden's 2020 presidential run - and former New York City Michael Bloomberg.
Adding a big of glamour to the mix was Academy Award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh, the first Asian-American to receive an Oscar, Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky, who is set to compete

Elite higher education in America -- long unquestioned as globally preeminent -- is facing a perfect storm.
Fewer applicants, higher costs, impoverished students, collapsing standards, and increasingly politicized and mediocre faculty reflect a collapse of the university system. The country is waking up to the reality that a bachelor's degree no longer equates with graduates being broadly educated and analytical. Just as often, they are stereotyped as pampered, largely ignorant, and gratuitously opinionated.
No wonder polls show a drastic loss of public respect for higher education and, specifically, a growing lack of confidence in the professoriate.

The founder and CEO of telehealth and online pharmacy Hims took to social media on Wednesday to encourage anti-Israel protesters on college campuses to continue in those efforts because companies like his will be "eager" to hire them. Andrew Dudum, who founded Hims in 2017, said anti-Israel campus protesters are making a difference and drew a contrast to other executives who have said the antisemitic demonstrations have made those involved in campus protests unemployable.
"Moral courage > College degree," Dudum wrote on X. "If you're currently protesting against the genocide of the Palestinian people & for your university's divestment from Israel, keep going. It's working."

The city declared a public health emergency following an outbreak in a single-room occupancy hotel in Long Beach. A tuberculosis outbreak among residents of a single-room occupancy hotel in Long Beach has left one person dead and led to the hospitalizations of nine others, prompting the declaration of a public health emergency, city officials said Thursday.
The city Department of Health and Human Services insists the risk of exposure to the general public is low, with the outbreak restricted to a "distinct population" of people with "significant barriers to care, including homelessness and housing insecurity, mental illness, substance abuse and serious medical comorbidities."

Former President Donald Trump has laid out the most concrete timeline yet for when he might select his running mate for the 2024 Republican ticket.
“I’ll be picking, but probably not too much before the convention, which I happen to be having in the great state of Wisconsin,” the presumptive GOP nominee told FOX 6 Milwaukee during a campaign visit to the battleground state Wednesday.
The Republican National Convention will be held in Milwaukee July 15-18. Traditionally, the vice presidential nominee will address the delegates on the penultimate night of the gathering.
In 2016, Trump picked then-Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate in the final week before the convention,
