'I stand with the speaker.' Trump backs
Speaker Mike Johnson amid rebellion from right

Former President Donald Trump gave House Speaker Mike Johnson a political lifeline Friday amid discontent with his leadership among conservatives in the House, saying, “I stand with the speaker, we’ve had a very good relationship." After a week filled with political setbacks for both men, and as Trump faces the first of four potential criminal trials beginning Monday in Manhattan, two of the country's most powerful Republicans met at Mar-a-Lago to unveil voting legislation they hope will put Democrats on the defensive, even as critics say it’s based on a false premise. Johnson is struggling to govern a fractious GOP caucus that has become increasingly disenchanted with his leadership,

Unless Trump knows something I do not, I am very skeptical of Speaker Johnson. So many times Johnson could have held the line and did not. How do you in good conscious go along with anything that democrats want? This is not your granddaddy’s Political climate and requires severe pushback to save this country. Compromise, in my opinion, went out the window when democrats stole 2020. If a party is willing to do that, they are never to be trusted. How do you make a deal with the devil? You stand your ground and do not give an inch. Comity has lost its appeal when you deal with dishonest and destructive individuals bent on the total transformation of the country. How does evil triumph? When good men do nothing.

I think for myself, but I don't have to work with traitors like Johnson. I don't stand with Johnson because Johnson doesn't stand with me. Maybe PDT thinks he can pull this speaker clown up; Johnson seems like a weak sellout to me. His struggle seems to be remaining loyal to Republican ideals; he's more of a leftist, if you ask me. After all the dirty dealing that goes on in Washington, how can we be expected to believe he doesn't quite know what to do?

The GOP has a one seat majority and the majority has in its ranks a number of undocumented democrats. Suck it up folks, we aren't going to get a speaker that we really like until we have a 20-30 seat majority. We get whoever can get a 50% plus 1 vote. And that certainly isn't MTG.

We the people are disenchanted with the republican house. If half of the 300 Spartans did not hold the line as one against the Persians they would have all died in the first attack but they persisted against an army of thousands. These people need to learn to work together, the one thing that the democrats do right because they have no such thing as DINOs. It doesn't matter who the Speaker is if he spends all of his time herding cats.

Trump has no choice but to support squishy Johnson. The establishment uniparty is trying to flip the House before a possible Republican majority can take their seats next January. They are hell bent to prevent Trump from becoming President even if he is elected in a landslide. SCOTUS has done their squishy best to signal that it's up to Congress to determine if Trump can be denied based on the 14th Amendment, or other means.

#11, and I think that is why Donald Trump is a very good negotiator. Joe Biden, not a good negotiator at all. It can be all about timing and courage. I am reminded of the Serenity Prayer, "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

Johnson ran to Trump to save him. And Trump made the mistake of doing it. I am tired of Trump mistakes. Johnson cast the deciding vote on warrantless FISA, choosing to vote with Biden --- again. Johnson needs to resign. I am done with Johnson. Where are those J6 tapes, Johnson? If you fight, you may lose. If you NEVER FIGHT, you always lose. The Republican never fight, and always lose. We are told we need to reform the Republican Party from within. Why? They will never fight. They will never use the power given to them. Maybe we need to take over the Democrat Party. They always fight.

Google Censors Trump Ad for Unspecified Reasons 11 replies

I keep telling you about how severe the censorship by Big Tech is, and it is becoming background noise (or background silence?). So let me give you a concrete example: Google just booted this Trump ad that is completely, 100%, verifiably true for unspecified "policy violations." "Policy violations?" I can tell you exactly what the violation is: this ad is targeted at minority voters and it is probably very effective. Google can't have that, can they? We keep being told that Trump and the Republicans depend on foreign "election interference" in order to stay competitive, despite the fact that all sorts of investigations keep disproving it. Did not happen.

File this story in the you-can't-make-this-stuff-up folder. Remember the five Border Patrol agents on horseback who patrolled the Rio Grande River bank in Texas? An adviser to former San Antonio mayor and HUD secretary started a lie on social media that the agents were whipping Haitian migrants as they waded through the Rio Grande toward the Texas shore. It was a hoax to smear Border Patrol agents but the Biden administration fell for it. The agents were taken off their assignment as the lie went viral. The photographer who took the photo used to justify the lie said immediately that the agents were not whipping the migrants. The reins

The U.S. added 175,000 nonfarm payroll jobs in April as the unemployment rate ticked up to 3.9%, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data released Friday. Economists anticipated that the country would add 243,000 jobs in April compared to the 303,000 jobs that were added in initial estimates for March, and that the unemployment rate would remain unchanged at 3.8%, according to Reuters. The job gains accompany recent slow economic growth, with gross domestic product totaling just 1.6% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2024. Inflation has continued to wreak havoc on businesses looking to hire, measuring 3.5% year-over-year in March, up from 3.2%

The Israeli Air Force will mothball its Patriot air defense systems within two months as it moves to replace them with its own more advanced air defense equipment, the country's defense ministry announced on April 30. According to media reports, Israel is thought to have eight U.S.-produced Patriot systems that currently work alongside its own air defenses, most famously the Iron Dome, a short-range interceptor designed to shoot down rockets, mortars, and drones. It also deploys the David's Sling system, designed to shoot down medium-range projectiles, and the Arrow, a long-range system designed to intercept ballistic missiles.

California Highway Patrol officers made their move at UCLA early Thursday morning, busting through barricades to dismantle a wooden wall erected by activists protesting the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip. They also tore down tents in the area, which was littered with broken pieces of wood and damaged furniture. Some of the activists fought back, spraying officers with fire extinguishers while refusing to leave the UCLA grounds -- even after police had spent hours ordering them to disperse over a loudspeaker.
