One article showing up this weekend in the Associated Press seems fairly typical of election-year legacy media coverage at first glance. The title makes a generic accusation against "anonymous right-wing users" on social media who are spreading "false information." Well, we certainly don't need more of that floating around, so I suppose we'd better look into it. Unfortunately, not many details are offered beyond the identity of a pseudonymous Twitter account that posted some data from the Social Security Administration showing a spike in voter registration in several states where vast numbers of illegal migrants have taken up residence. Many of these registrations were apparently

HOUSTON, Texas — A six-month investigation led to a series of raids on Mexican cartel-connected chop shops in the Houston metroplex this week. The raids led to the seizure of more than $1 million in stolen vehicles.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted photos on X showing the chop-shop operations located on Leago, Yale, and Gulf Bank streets. The auto-theft ring has “possible ties to a cartel,” the sheriff stated. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials were more direct in tying the operation, run by three Mexican nationals to the narco-terrorist organization Cartel Jalisco New Generation, according to a report by the New York Post. ICE officials identified

Here in the Susitna Valley, when it's time to vote, we proceed on Election Day to our local community center, where we present our IDs, get checked off the voting roll, sign in, and then fill out a paper ballot. Those paper ballots are placed in a box and counted by humans. Now, granted, that system works well here, where our little rural community can expect fewer than 2,000 voters most years.
Many states and municipalities across the land have, however, resorted to mail-in ballots. It's easy to imagine many ways in which this system is fraught, but now a major overhaul of the U.S. Postal Service - the timing

Vermont police are investigating a fire at Independent Senator Bernie Sanders’s office as a suspected arson attack.
A man can be seen on surveillance footage entering the vestibule of the office before spraying an apparent accelerant on the entrance door, according to CNN.
“He then lit the accelerant and fled,” police said. “A significant fire engulfed the door and part of the vestibule, impeding the egress of staff members who were working in the office and endangering their lives.”
First responders arrived at the office around 10:45 a.m. on Friday. No one was injured in the suspected attack, however, there was damage from the fire set to the door

Remember when the Biden administration announced that it would place a ban on menthol cigarettes? Well, it appears the White House could be close to making such a prohibition a reality.
The ban is supposedly, and racistly, intended to save black people from themselves, given that menthol cigarettes are popular among African American smokers. However, there are reasons to speculate that President Joe Biden could be slow-walking the process for political reasons.
The proposed prohibition on menthol smokes was introduced about two years ago and was met with criticism from folks on the left and the right.
The regulations, which would broadly ban the product, were first

After an Israeli air strike in Syria on Monday killed Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander in Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps, a hardline Iranian political coalition has seemingly admitted that Iran played a significant role in Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7.
In a statement on Thursday memorializing Zahedi, the Coalition Council of Islamic Revolution Forces (SHANA) said he played a "strategic role in...designing and implementing" the barbaric ambush attack on Israeli civilians:
Major General Mohammad Reza Zahedi with a group of others His warriors received the reward of years of sincere struggle...

Washington — The US is on high alert and actively preparing for a “significant” attack that could come as soon as within the next week by Iran targeting Israeli or American assets in the region in response to Monday’s Israeli strike in Damascus that killed top Iranian commanders, a senior administration official tells CNN.
Senior US officials currently believe that an attack by Iran is “inevitable” – a view shared by their Israeli counterparts, that official said. The two governments are furiously working to get in position ahead of what is to come, as they anticipate that Iran’s attack could unfold in a number of different ways – and that both

The liberal media couldn't contain its excitement over the latest Franklin & Marshall poll showing Biden with a 10-point lead over Trump in Pennsylvania. Newsweek, for example, published an article headlined, "Joe Biden Crushes Donald Trump in New Swing State Poll."
"A new poll shows President Joe Biden holding a double-digit lead over former President Donald Trump in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania seven months before the general election," the article began. "This marks a large increase since February, when the company's polling showed Biden leading Trump by only one percentage point, on 43 percent to 42 percent."

NewsNation primetime host Chris Cuomo dropped some major truth bombs on his eponymous show Thursday night; directly addressing the folks in the White House he’s been told “monitor” what he says and calling out how the American and Israeli hostages stolen by Hamas terrorists “have become an afterthought” to President Biden, who dropped them below reelection as a priority. He called it all “unforgivable.” At the top of his show, Cuomo noted “that people in the White House monitor what I say” and warned that since officials “won't come on the show,” he was “forced to speak at you rather than to you. This is not my choice.” Cuomo chided

On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “The Story,” White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby responded to questions on how the 2021 U.S. strike in Afghanistan that killed an aid worker is different from the Israeli strike that killed World Central Kitchen workers are different by stating that it’s “imprudent to try to compare two things that happened three years apart in two different conflicts.” And there was an independent investigation of the Afghanistan strike, “and that independent investigator found that there was no need for personal accountability to be had, but did find that the U.S. military needed to make some systemic changes,

A Southwest plane came perilously close to hitting LaGuardia Airport's air traffic control tower.
Southwest Flight 147 from Nashville to New York veered off course when coming in for a landing on March 23 around 1 pm because of inclement weather. The Boeing 737 plane, which had 150 people on board, came within 67 feet of the control tower. The plane circled the airport once and then swooped down as low as 300 feet, creating panic in the air traffic control tower.
In audio captured by LiveATC.net, air traffic control personnel can be heard shouting: 'Go around! Go around!' The plane was ordered to abort the landing and fly upward 2,000

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) temporarily suspended its controversial rule requiring private companies to disclose carbon emissions data after it was met with a slew of lawsuits.
The rule, which was finalized in March, was immediately met with litigation by a cohort of 25 GOP attorneys general, along with energy companies Liberty Energy and Nomad Proppant Services, and business groups including the Chamber of Commerce, Texas Alliance of Energy Producers and Domestic Energy Producers Alliance.
Last month, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals granted a brief administrative stay of the rule while the various lawsuits were consolidated.
