About those innocent Palestinian civilians...

Among the heart-breaking scenes from the Middle-East are video reports showing civilian casualties of the current war. In the West, we cringe at those images, especially the ones showing small children — dead, grievously wounded, or orphaned. In Gaza, there seems to be little reciprocity of sympathy. Newsmax reports that more than seventy percent of Gazans approve of the October 7 attack on Israel, in which more than 1,200 Israelis were killed, many by unspeakable torture. More than eighty percent deny that the atrocities were committed, even after watching the videos sadistically, and boastfully, recorded by the terrorists themselves. This reminds us of the self-contradiction

Back in LA, when I lived in Hancock Park, there was a Orthodox family that drove around in the usual huge station wagon picking up the kids for Hebrew school that had a big Menorah on the top and a big sign in the back that said "We want Moshiach now". I couldn't agree more.

The West managed to defeat Nazi Germany by force of arms, and to then turn its ideology into a pariah known as such in every country in the world. That's the only way that the murderous muslims will be defeated...and their own genocidal imperatives leave the rest of us with no choice.

Why doesn't Jordan take in some of these "innocents"? The queen of Jordan IS Palestinian. or how about Saudi Arabia? Plenty of room there. Egypt? it's next door, just over the border with Gaza. Where is the brotherhood or sense of humanity for fellow Arabs, the followers of the religion of peace?

I have never believed in the concept of "innocent Palestinian civilians". This is an insurgency, no one on the terrorist side wears a uniform. So, in one minute, he or she can be firing a grenade launcher or rifle or mortar, and literally 10 seconds later. Drop the weapon, walk 20 feet away and "I'm an innocent civilian". Not buying it. I had my first attitude adjustment talking to a friend who saw combat in Vietnam. He had to shoot a woman running at their group of soldiers, with a grenade. He said that it still gave him nightmares some times, but not as often, 50 years later. But he said, he knew he had to do it, she was about to kill him and a number of his friends. Another friend fought in the Congo with Belgian Army. He told of these young European men learning the hard way, by some of them dying, that, as he put it, "We learned to shoot the women first. They were the most vicious fighters." And how about the SEALs in Afghanistan who were discovered by a "innocent shepherd boy", and they debated killing him or turning him loose. The civilized ones won, they turned him loose and he brought 150 Taliban to wipe out the SEAL team except for the 'Lone Survivor', who survived against all odds. "Innocent civilians" is easy to say, not so easy to deal with on a battlefield. Things are NOT black and white, but endless shades of ethical grayness. But, no one sitting in a warm, peaceful, quite place wants to hear about that. They want easy answers.

Fox News host and former Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) took a swing at House GOP members Friday for ousting former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) in fall 2023. “You and I would not be talking about [House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.)], had it not been for [Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.)] and seven of his comrades, who decided to pursue fame and get rid of Kevin McCarthy,” Gowdy told Fox News’ Rich Edison on “Special Report,” in a clip highlighted by Mediaite. “What have they gotten, as a result of that? How has the House been improved?” Gowdy continued. As the House prepares to go on recess, members could be talking about

As turmoil continues within the House Republican caucus, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) appeared on Fox News Channel’s “Jesse Watters Primetime” and weighed in on that turmoil and the decisions his successor, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), is facing. According to the former California lawmaker, the beginning of the end for Republicans came when Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) led his ouster last year. “Kevin what is going on with the spending and what just happened with Johnson?” host Jesse Watters asked. “I don’t know what they’re doing spending now, but when I became Speaker, I instituted a 72-hour rule that got not just the members the opportunity to read the

WASHINGTON — The Senate voted 74-24 early Saturday morning to pass a sweeping $1.2 trillion government funding bill after heated last-minute negotiations caused senators to breach the midnight deadline to avert a shutdown. But the funding lapse was brief and technical, having no meaningful impact as the White House said it has "ceased shutdown preparations" due to a Senate agreement, which came after Republicans demanded votes on a series of amendments. The legislation, which passed the House on Friday morning by a vote of 268-134, now goes to President Joe Biden, who has said he'll sign it into law. It completes a turbulent government funding process during the divided government,

The roof of the bus was crumpled, and much of another vehicle nearby was pulverized. Personal items were strewn across the road. Four people in critical condition were airlifted from the crash site. But what we know so far is that, a few hours ago, gunmen entered one of the largest concert halls in a suburb known as Moscow Oblast and opened fire on the crowd within. There were also explosions reported. The concert hall is connected to a large shopping mall. That was seen erupting into flames as panicked shoppers and concertgoers escaped, and drivers on the roadway next to it videoed the scene. At last count there were over 40 (now reporting up to as many as 60) dead and at least 100 injured,

The UN Security Council has rejected a US-sponsored resolution calling for an "immediate and sustained ceasefire" in Gaza. It comes after permanent members Russia and China chose to veto a motion tabled on Friday. Israel has been coming under increasing pressure to allow more humanitarian aid to reach over two million Palestinians - and better protect civilians. The draft had undergone "many rounds of consultations" with members of the 15-seat council, and marked a toughening of America's stance towards Israel. Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US ambassador to the UN, said the resolution's failure was "really outrageous and below the dignity of the UN Security Council".
