Americans sprang forward Sunday in the controversial annual tradition of daylight saving time, prompting over a dozen senators to re-up their push to “lock the clock” and make the change permanent. “We’re ‘springing forward’ but should have never ‘fallen back.’ My Sunshine Protection Act would end this stupid practice of changing our clocks back and forth,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said last week as he renewed his efforts to end the practice. Back in 2022, a bill sponsored by Rubio — the Sunshine Protection Act of 2021 — cleared the Senate via unanimous consent. Several senators later indicated they didn’t realize what they were supporting at the time

This is one of the most important problems in this country today? No way in he11 they can protect sunshine or change time regardless of them being US Senators. Just leave the damned clocks alone.

Just goes to show you how completely corrupt and useless congress has become. A simple issue like doing away with the irritating, dangerous, and insulting daylight savings which should not be in any way a political issue cannot be repealed.
Congress and the Communist Federal Government is broken beyond repair.

A Facebook meme had the most brilliant idea. If we are going to keep the stupid Daylight and Standard times, at least when we set the clock forward we should do so at 4 P.M. on a Friday afternoon.

The idea is stupid on its face. Dispense with Daylight Savings completely, and let schools and businesses decide when to open and close.

Actually, I kind of enjoy the switching twice a year. (My dad grumbled about it saying that the cows still had to be milked at the same time) - but my contention is with the dramatic headline: "Rubio, other lawmakers battle..." Battle? BATTLE? Meanwhile they do nothing while the country is being invaded, its values corroding from within, and its population being decimated by drug fatalities, while also ignoring the high crimes and treason of this evil regime and the outrageous and incessant attacks on their party's leader.

Many Senators did not know what they were voting on.
That was said like it is something new. Most of them don't read the bills they vote the way their party tells them to or the way their staff tells them to.

" Sunshine Protection Act " ???????????? No matter how you cut it there are only 24 hours in a day. Get rid of DST and you won't have to mess with your clocks.

To dispute the haters, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want the extra hour of daylight. So there.

And another thing, the further you live from the equator ( going north and south ) the more the difference between the hours of daylight and darkness . You cannot legislate the angle of the earths axis. This why the seasons are opposite in northern and southern hemispheres.

No, no no. Been there- done that and it was a colossal flop. Winter days are shorter and changing the clocks doesn't fix that. Maybe Rubio wasn't born when Jimmy Carter did that . - For about 9 or 10 months.

I hate changing clocks twice a year. Have one watch that's 20 years old that gets its time from the place in Colorado. It refuses to switch to standard time. So I use it 6 months a year. And the biggest strain is having to rotate sun dials 15 degrees every 6 months. Any change in the amount of sunlight is due to the angle the axis of the Earth makes with the plane of the ecliptic and not anything a politician did or didn't do.

I PREFER 'springing forward' and 'falling back'.
I was in high school when they tried the 'year-round DST' and everyone HATED it!
Also, regarding year-round 'Standard Time'... most people want to get their workday started as soon as it's good and light, and NOT have to waste an hour of morning daylight in the summer months before going to work.
KEEP IT AS IT IS!

The practice of moving clocks back and forth does not produce any more (or less) minutes of sunlight in any day without doing so. So why make these changes at all. All you are doing is disrupting People’s schedules twice a year. Originally, the changes were near the vernal (spring) and fall equinoxes. This made so kind so kind of sense because all of the days in the summer half because sunrise was earlier and sunset was later in the northern hemisphere. (The opposite is true in the southern hemisphere.) However, in the spring and fall meant people had to go to work or school before sunrise.
Then, several years ago some politicians got the bright idea to start daylight savings time earlier and stop later increasing the days most people started their days before sunrise, eliminating any advantage to DST. If you are going to do anything, eliminate DST. Then you would be more in cynic with the rest of the world.

Most people I know just want to pick one method and stay with it.
Who is stopping this every time it comes up? Do lobbyists pay big buck to keep switching back and forth? Do many members of Congress own clock factories?

Idiot lawmakers actually believe that they can create more daylight. And the great irony is - - that year-round Daylight "Saving" Time is no "saving" time at all - - it just changes the numbers which we give to the clock's hours - - and accomplishes absolutely nothing. If Pubbies were smart - - ha-ha-ha - - they would get the government out of the time-telling scam - - and tell businesses to start their work day an hour earlier - - if they want their employees to have more daylight at the end of the workday - - instead of fiddling with the entire country's clocks. But Pubbies - - like Rubio - - are too dumb and too arrogant to get away from telling people what time it is. What a complete waste and folly this is!
