San Francisco residents appear to have finally had enough of what they voted for and are now open to embracing some conservative ideas, according to a poll.
San Francisco Chamber of Commerce’s annual CityBeat poll was conducted by EMC Research and surveyed 500 likely voters between January 17-21, 2024. The margin of error is ± 4.4 percent, but these numbers are so overwhelmingly one-sided that the margin of error is meaningless.
After years and years of one of the most left-wing cities in America getting exactly what it voted for in the form of violent crime, filthy streets, drugs everywhere, and a vacant downtown caused by all three — along with

“…. no Republican will ever win an election in the City by the Bay. The residents are too demented, prideful, and stupid.”
Yep.

While I embrace Nolte's general sentiment about leaving these liberal cities to their own devices and demise, I worry what will happen when these cities collapse. Will all these losers move somewhere else and repeat the process? Should they all be scooped up and imprisoned? Are all these people permanently toxic? Is there any possible rehabilitation? I'm far from a soft touch but simply pulling the flush lever on these people seems wrong, no matter how tempting. On the other hand, they CANNOT be allowed to continue their existence in this manner. Call the damage moronic liberals have done be remedied?

Only a few will see the error of their ways. Liberalism has wrecked many cities but there is no change. Lately Washington DC has been wracked by crime and businesses fleeing (and sports teams), but they only double down on stupidity. San Fran will likely follow the same path.

Sadly, when they flee their own broken handwork they think they'll 'do it better next time' - in a city near you. They are incapable of understanding history - even their own.

Nolte points out that although they say these things they will NEVER vote for Republicans who might actually facilitate such things.
A poll is one thing. Pulling a lever for a “Nazi” is another.
Yep. They are done.

Start voting differently hand maybe your city will be recoverable.
I tend to doubt that they will actually change their ideas, though.

Too late, your city is too far gone and unless you change your legislature you can kiss you behind good-bye.

The last Republican mayor of San Francisco (George Christopher) left office in 1964. As the author points out, it is difficult to muster any sympathy for residents who chose to be governed by democrat mayors.
Any city that chooses to be governed by democrats for 60 years deserves what it gets.

Their kids might get slaughtered on the streets and everyone around them have home invasions, while the homeless set up tents in their back yards, but if the wholesale slaughter of the unborn isn't allowed to go on unabated, liberals will never vote for the right. They have very strange priorities.

I left San Francisco in 2019 after 45 years of happy life there. I departed to cash in on the huge profit I made on my house and to spend my golden years in a warmer climate. In 2019 the city was booming. While the homeless problem was getting a bit worse there were no tents or campgrounds on the streets or even under the freeways. The city was clean and safe. It was run entirely by left wing Democrats.
Covid and the hysteria over George Floyd brought an end to the good life in San Francisco. The end was due entirely to the left wing Democrats who were in charge during the good times and still in charge after the good times disappeared. The problem is not that no Republicans can be elected there. The problem is that the entire political system is under the control of the left wing of the Democrat Party.
The Democrat Party in San Francisco has political clubs through which the approved candidates audition for elected positions. One has to have come up through the Democratic clubs to have any chance of electoral success. Over the past decade I, as well as many of my friends, noticed that graduates of the clubs were more focused on fashionable causes than on the health of the city. 2020 was their chance to impose their ideas. While I do blame the residents, in part for passivity and cluelessness, I can't blame them for living in a one party, single ideology city where no one other than a Democrat has any possibility of being elected.
The vast majority of San Franciscans want the exact same things for themselves and their families as people elsewhere do. I have every confidence that gradually, then more rapidly more reasonable candidates will win. The winners will still be Democrats but they will be of the sort that have the sense not to kill the golden goose that made everyone quite content until very recently.

They might want to dial it back because it went too far, but they do not want a Rudy Giuliani style fixer to address the problem!

Most of those things are not conservative ideas. Incentives are a liberal's dream as are more drones and surveillance. These are to watch and control you not stop crime.

I sure hope so. San Francisco and New York are BEAUTIFUL cities and very sad to see what is happening to them. Previous generations built this country and it is sad to see unmotivated people tearing it down. It seems like this generation of people are thumbing their noses at the hard and beautiful work people created for them to enjoy.
#11, my dad lived in Concord and I was able to enjoy one trip before he died. . .
