Negotiators are moving closer to an agreement in which Israel would pause its war in the Gaza Strip for two months in exchange for the release of more than 100 hostages still held by Hamas, according to a published report. The New York Times, quoting anonymous U.S. officials “who insisted on anonymity to discuss sensitive talks,” said an American-led negotiating team has developed a written draft agreement that combines the proposals of the Israelis and Hamas.
President Joe Biden spoke on Friday with the leaders of Egypt and Qatar, the nations that have served as intermediaries with Hamas, according to The Associated Press.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) has made a remarkable recovery from his stroke. Indeed, I'm not sure how it happened, but he seems to have come out of it being right on important issues from the Israel-Hamas War to the border crisis. And he hasn't been afraid to share his opinion, which, in a strange twist, has conservatives liking a lot of what he has been saying and doing. Fetterman has said the border crisis is killing the American dream and that he doesn't know how anyone could deny it was a crisis. He's decimated the anti-Israel crew with his common sense take on the Israel-Hamas War.

President Joe Biden’s campaign manager traveled to Michigan on Friday to help shore up support among minority groups within the state seething over the administration’s Middle East policy, according to three people familiar with the situation.
Julie Chávez Rodríguez was scheduled to meet with a range of local elected officials and leaders from Michigan’s Arab and Palestinian-American, Hispanic, and Black communities in the Detroit area, including Dearborn, which has a substantial Arab American population.
The sessions reflect the continuation of a monthslong effort to meet with local Democratic officials across the nation to hear concerns and build enthusiasm for the reelection campaign.

CNN’s Dana Bash solemnly lamented on Friday’s Inside Politics that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is in defiance of a recent Supreme Court ruling regarding razor wire at the border there was just one problem: the Court never said the wire was illegal. What the Court did was remove an injunction that prohibited federal authorities from removing the wire while the underlying case is litigated. Theoretically, the feds could remove the wire, do whatever it is they need to do, leave, and Texas could put the wire right back, but Bash warned, “Texas is ignoring the highest court in the land. This week the Supreme Court ruled that

A well-coordinated, well-funded, and high-powered network of leftist organizations, led by a group whose efforts 2016 Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Rodham Clinton promoted, is behind the push to remove former President Donald Trump, the 2024 frontrunner for president from any party, from the ballot, Breitbart News has learned.
But it’s much broader than that: For years, this network of leftists grew from a powerful vast left-wing conspiracy unmasked a decade ago into now being the dominating force on the left determined to stop Trump at all costs. What’s more, these leftists clearly control what top Democrats are saying, forcing their leaders to adopt their narrative.

Axios has a scoop, but I call it a bombshell: According to a Biden administration official, when it comes to the Biden administration’s approach to Israel, the most important thing is Biden winning his election. Little things like an ally’s fight against an openly genocidal enemy or stability within the always volatile Middle East? Meh. What matters is power.
Here are the main points from the Axios essay:
President Biden last week pressed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to scale down the Israeli military operation in Gaza, stressing he is not in it for a year of war, two U.S. officials told Axios.
Why it matters: Biden's comments

The Justice Department on Friday announced an agreement with the New York governors office that former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed 13 women who worked for the state over eight years.
The agreement concluded that the Cuomo administration violated federal Title VII rules against discrimination and retaliation between 2013 and 2021. Justice Department officials said Cuomo and his staff engaged in a "pattern or practice of discrimination against female employees based on sex" and retaliated against the women who spoke up. The agreement did not disclose the identities of the 13 employees.
"The conduct in the executive chamber under the former governor, the state's most powerful elected official, was especially

Vince McMahon, who co-founded the modern WWE in 1982, has resigned from his roles as TKO Executive Chairman and from his position on the TKO Board of Directors, he said in a statement provided to ESPN on Friday night.
McMahon, 78, leaves the publicly traded company -- which is also the parent group of the UFC -- following a lawsuit filed Thursday that accuses him of sexual misconduct.
In the lawsuit, Janel Grant, who worked in WWE's legal and talent departments, alleges that McMahon forced her into a sexual relationship in order for her to obtain and keep her job and passed around pornographic pictures and videos of her

Is there going to be a major confrontation on the border following Joe Biden's ultimatum that Texas National Guard forces be removed from Shelby Park and other "disputed" areas? Not if the rank-and-file of the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol have anything to say about it. According to a new post put out by the Border Patrol Union, and a new report from Griff Jenkins of Fox News, Biden has lost operational control of the situation, at least in a practical sense. The Biden administration had initially warned Texas that it had until mid-day Friday to relinquish control of Shelby Park, the nearby boat dock,

At least 70 percent of registered Chicago voters say they do not approve of far-left mayor Brandon Johnson’s performance after his first eight months in office, according to a new poll.
The poll, conducted for the education-reform advocacy group Stand for Children, was designed to measure Chicagoans’ opinions on school-choice policy. However, the poll also contained generalized questions about the performance of local politicians. Voters were asked “how you feel each of the following is performing” in response to a list of names that included “Brandon Johnson as Chicago Mayor,” according to poll results obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times.
Stand for Children has not publicly released its poll data on local politicians.

NEW YORK — A jury has awarded an additional $83.3 million to former advice columnist E. Jean Carroll, who says former President Donald Trump damaged her reputation by calling her a liar after she accused him of sexual assault.
Friday’s verdict was the second time in nine months that a jury addressed Carroll’s claim that Trump assaulted her in a New York City department store in 1996. Another jury last May found Trump liable for sexual abuse and ordered him to pay $5 million. This defamation trial was over things Trump said about Carroll while he was president. Trump continues to insist he was falsely accused.
The verdict was

Two major exhibition halls and several other display cabinets at the American Museum of Natural History were empty and covered up on Friday morning as the museum shuttered all Native American-related displays to comply with new federal regulations, shocking new photos showed.
The glass cabinets in the museum’s halls dedicated to the Eastern Woodlands and the Great Plains looked eerily abandoned, just hours after museum director Sean Decatur announced the changes in a letter to staff Friday morning. “The halls we are closing are artifacts of an era when museums such as ours did not respect the values, perspectives and indeed shared humanity of Indigenous peoples,”
