WASHINGTON - U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's aide asked for the ambulance picking up the Pentagon chief to keep its lights and sirens off during a New Year's Day call to 911, according to audio of call obtained by Reuters. "Can the ambulance not show up with lights and sirens? We're trying to remain a little subtle," the aide, whose name was redacted from the audio, told the 911 dispatcher. Austin's trip to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and subsequent hospitalization was kept secret for days, including from U.S. President Joe Biden and even Austin's deputy, Kathleen Hicks. He spent

MyPillow founder Mike Lindell claimed this week that Fox News “canceled” his company from advertising on the network, but a source told Mediaite his bedding company’s ads have been put on pause over a failure to pay its bills. “I’m bringing some disturbing news,” Lindell told Steve Bannon on his War Room podcast on Thursday. “Ever since I’ve been speaking out about our election platforms since January ’21, they’ve been attacking my company, MyPillow, with cancel culture… and now Fox News.” “Fox News has cancelled MyPillow,” he said, before suggesting the partnership was canceled because “my brand is branded right

Those big electronic message boards along highways that convey a message with humor to drivers are under attack by Uncle Sam. The federal government wants the messages to be less humor, more standard use. It seems to me that the country could use more humor, even more corny dad jokes. Especially on long, boring highways, a little humor in the deliverance of important information to drivers goes a long way. (Snip) Blame Mayor Pete. The Federal Highway Administration, an agency that is in the U.S. Department of Transportation, issued new guidance in December about traffic safety messages. Signs should no

ARRIAGA, Mexico - A new migrant caravan of approximately 2,000 people formed in southern Mexico on Monday, largely made up of people that have been on the move since Christmas Eve who say the Mexican government's promises of transit visas last week never materialized. The migrants, including some carrying young children, are walking to the southern Oaxaca town of Tapanatepec, about 800 kilometers (480 miles) south of Mexico City by road. They hope to reach Tapanatepec by nightfall. The group of mostly Central American and Caribbean migrants are ultimately headed for the U.S. border, the caravan's leader Luis Villagran said. Last

David Soul, who starred alongside Paul Michael Glaser on the 1970s’ ABC buddy cop show Starsky and Hutch and had a No. 1 hit with the song “Don’t Give Up on Us,” has died. He was 80. Soul died Thursday after “a valiant battle for life in the loving company of family,” his wife, Helen Snell, said in a statement. “He shared many extraordinary gifts in the world as actor, singer, storyteller, creative artist and dear friend,” she said. “His smile, laughter and passion for life will be remembered by the many whose lives he has touched.” Soul also appeared

CHICAGO – Multiple factors likely contribute to why only a small fraction of asylum seekers in Chicago have received permits to work legally. CBS 2's Sabrina Franza reported how only about 1% of the 26,000 migrants in the city have received their documents with assistance from the city and she dug into why the number is so low. The number really boils down to three things: the cost of the application, the availability of documents, and the significant demand. (Snip) The cost to fill out the application is over $400. There is a form to waive that cost. Conway's office has

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded to questions from Democratic Mayors across the country regarding the administration's border and asylum policies during an interview Tuesday morning on CNN. "Here's my response. It is shameful that a Republican governor -- Gov. Abbott in Texas -- is using migrants as a political stunt. That's what he's been doing," Jean-Pierre said. "We're about to hit three years -- three years since the president put forward an immigration comprehensive legislation -- put that forward to Congress and nothing was done on it." MIDTOWN, Manhattan -- Buses from Texas and Louisiana began dropping off asylum seekers at several NJ Transit stations in New Jersey. It's apparently to avoid New York City Mayor Eric Adams' new restrictions on when they can arrive at Port Authority Bus Terminal. Approximately 10 buses from Texas and one from Louisiana, carrying about 397 migrants, arrived at stations in Secaucus, Fanwood, Edison and Trenton in the last two days, according to a social media post from Jersey City. Four of the buses dropped asylum seekers at the Secaucus Junction station. "It seems quite clear the bus operators are finding

U.S. Navy helicopters returned fire and and sank three small boats carrying Houthi militants in the Red Sea on Sunday, after U.S. warships responded to a distress call from a merchant vessel, military officials said. A Maersk container ship, the Singapore-flagged Hangzhou, issued a distress call at about 6:30 a.m. local time, U.S. Central Command said in a statement on Sunday. The merchant vessel said four small boats were attacking it. "The small boats, originating from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, fired crew-served and small-arms weapons at the Maersk Hangzhou, getting to within 20 meters of the vessel, and attempted
