Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was campaigning for a Republican candidate, Candy Noble, at the Lucas Christian Academy in Lucas, Texas on Saturday. Noble is running for re-election to the Texas House. Abbott is out promoting her and other House candidates. However, there were anti-Israel activists there in the audience who then disrupted the campaign event. One of them was quickly ushered out by police. But when Gov. Abbott began to call out Hamas and declared that it was a "terrorist organization," a protester in the audience started yelling that the IDF were terrorists too. That's when a melee broke out in the audience, as multiple

The House passed a short-term spending bill on Thursday, sending the legislation to Joe Biden’s desk with just two days left before government funding runs out. The House approved the bill in a vote of 314 to 108, with 107 Republicans and 207 Democrats supporting the proposal. The House speaker, Republican Mike Johnson, took up the bill under suspension of the rules, so he needed two-thirds of the chamber to support the legislation to get it passed. In a potentially worrisome sign for Johnson, 106 Republicans opposed the bill as hard-right members of the conference called for steeper spending cuts.

Emails have leaked showing a tense exchange between Fani Wilis and Donald Trump's defense. Trump is facing RICO charges brought by Willis in Georgia, a move that has left some legal scholars scratching their heads. The back and forth began after Steven Sadow, who is Trump's lead lawyer on the case, sent an email saying that he doesn't understand why the prosecutorial team won't respond to his requests. One of Willis' underlings then shot back by playing the race card. The recent tense exchange unfolded in a group email thread that includes prosecutors and defense lawyers in the case. It began when the lead lawyer for Mr. Trump in

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a veiled rebuke to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday night, pushing back against Blinken’s claim that Israel could not defeat Hamas in Gaza, and that it should accept a Palestinian state. Without naming Blinken specifically, Netanyahu criticized those who, he said wanted to tie Israel’s hands and said that Israel could not win. On Wednesday, reports emerged that Blinken had told Netanyahu last week that Israel would not succeed in destroying Hamas’s military capabilities — an assertion at odds with Israel’s ongoing military success, and strong Israeli public support for the war. Blinken and the Biden administration also want Israel to accept

The Senate on Thursday passed a two-step stopgap to keep the government funded into March, as lawmakers try to quickly tie up their funding work ahead of a looming shutdown deadline and forecasts of inclement weather on Friday. The Senate voted 77-18 to pass the bill on Thursday afternoon, sending the legislation to the House, which is expected to vote later in the day. As part of the previous stopgap measure passed in November, Congress faces a Jan. 19 deadline to extend funding for agencies that fall under four of the 12 annual funding bills or risk a partial government shutdown.

A hearing will take place in Georgia next month over accusations that Fulton County District attorney Fani Willis and her lead prosecutor on the county’s election-interference case against former president Donald Trump had an improper relationship and mishandled taxpayer funds. The hearing is scheduled for February 15, according to an order from Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee. The judge gave Willis until February 2 to respond to the allegations, which were first reported in a legal filing from one of Trump’s co-defendants, former campaign aide Mike Roman. Lawyers for Roman called for Willis and prosecutor Nathan Wade to be removed

Existing tensions between the federal government and the state of Texas have heightened over the last several weeks, particularly following an incident involving the drowning of three migrants. On "America's Newsroom" Thursday, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick blasted the Biden administration for initially blaming the incident on the state after National Guard troops seized control of an area near Eagle Pass to prevent illegal crossings. DAN PATRICK: They know they're wrong. They were down here a month ago or so with a civil rights charge, with the FBI saying our boats were running over illegal immigrants. They watched the tape, and the next day the FBI apologized. They were wrong.

Texas officials arrested migrants on suspicion of criminal trespassing at a park in Eagle Pass, Texas, late Wednesday night, intensifying a legal battle between Gov. Greg Abbott and the Biden administration and escalating a showdown over border security policies. Chris Olivarez, a spokesperson with the Texas Department of Public Safety, said in a statement posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Texas troopers are acting under a “disaster declaration” issued by Abbott, who has increasingly taken more aggressive steps to crack down on illegal immigration along the Texas-Mexico border. Ron DeSantis has chalked up another policy victory in Florida. The state's Board of Education, which was appointed by the governor, formally moved to ban DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) in all state schools. The new rule was the follow-through on a law DeSantis signed last May which mandated that funding be denied to any state school that has DEI programs. "The rule adopted by the Board defined, for the first time, DEI and affirmatively prohibits FCS institutions from using state or federal funds to administer programs that categorize individuals based on race or sex for the purpose of differential or preferential treatment,"

Yes, this is real. I doubted that it was when I saw it online, but I went to YouTube to find the original video, and it is indeed taken from the video feed of the Washoe County Board of Commissioners meeting on January 16th. Washoe County’s capital is Reno, NV. The invocation was provided by the founder of Reno Satanic. On the one hand, the invocation is utterly banal in the sense that most of them are. Sticking an invocation at the beginning of a meeting of government bureaucrats is an anachronism, given that government bureaucracy is about as driven by moral purpose as casinos are. Gov. Greg Abbott received a $6 million campaign contribution last month, which his campaign is calling the “largest single donation in Texas history.” The check came from Jeff Yass, a national Republican megadonor whose priority issues include school vouchers. Abbott spent 2023 unsuccessfully pushing for a voucher program and is now targeting state House Republicans in the March primary who thwarted his agenda. Abbott accepted the $6 million donation — dated Dec. 18 — in a little-used account, suggesting he was setting it aside from funds raised for his reelection campaign. Yass is a billionaire from Pennsylvania who is co-founder and managing director of the Philadelphia-based investment firm Susquehanna International Group.

Walgreens is closing a store in a lower income neighborhood of Boston due to rampant theft and the people who live there are outraged. They’re actually protesting the store over news of the closure. This is a familiar chain of events in liberal cities. The Democrats who run the city allow theft and don’t punish criminals. Then the store decides to close and suddenly everyone is angry at the store instead of the people who actually caused the problem. This is going to happen in more and more cities until Democrats decide they want to punish crime.

The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General demands a total phase out of fossil fuels — to stop a “climate crisis” that doesn’t actually exist. How dare you own a car despite the fact there’s weather, you cretinous serf! Speaking at the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Davos 2024 conference, António Guterres condescendingly lectured about his favorite topic (when he’s not supporting Palestinian jihadis against Israel): the alleged crisis of climate change. Because climate alarmists have only been dead wrong for 50+ years, so we know they’re right this time. “2023 went down as the hottest year on record,” Guterres lied. “But it could be one of the coolest years [of] the future.”

Hamas’ sinister network of tunnels underneath the Gaza Strip may be over 350 miles long – or hundreds of miles more than initial estimates, sources said this week. The tunnels may run for anywhere between 350 to 450 miles, and boast a staggering 5,700 entrance shafts, senior Israeli officials told The New York Times. The new estimates – which could not be confirmed – are over 100 miles longer than the original numbers, which placed the tunnel network at around 250 miles long, the outlet noted. The tunnels’ vastness is “extraordinary” given that Gaza’s longest point only stretches about 25 miles, the Times said.

The veteran Swiss banker said the re-election of the former U.S. president “would challenge Europe fundamentally” given Trump’s determination to embrace America First in matters from trade to diplomacy, NATO funding, and climate policy.

In a Wuhan-esque study, Chinese scientists are experimenting with a mutant COVID-19 strain that is 100% lethal to “humanized” mice. The deadly virus — known as GX_P2V — attacked the brains of mice that were engineered to reflect genetic makeup similar to people, according to a study shared last week out of Beijing. “This underscores a spillover risk of GX_P2V into humans and provides a unique model for understanding the pathogenic mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2-related viruses,” the authors wrote. The deadly virus is a mutated version of GX/2017, a coronavirus cousin that was reportedly discovered in Malaysian pangolins in 2017 — three years before the pandemic.
