Members of the Minneapolis City Council will be meeting Monday morning to discuss and also vote on a resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza after a weekend of demonstrations in the city.
The Free Palestine Coalition ended a week of planned protests and calling for a ceasefire during a Sunday event, when they marched from the federal building to senator Amy Klobuchar’s Office.
However, as councilors meet, there seems to be a divide between some of them and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) experienced what can only be described as a positive moment in his presidential aspirations on Sunday, given Liz Cheney’s popularity among Republicans.
Appearing on Face the Nation, Cheney was asked about DeSantis suggesting that as president he would look at the January 6 defendants on a case-by-case basis and consider pardons in response to concerns about the “weaponization” of government and the rejected ex-congresswoman responded by declaring the governor “unfit for office.” [Video]
“We have other Republican candidates for president like Ron DeSantis who have said they are open to reviewing the cases against these defendants and considering pardons for them,"

Former first lady Michelle Obama said in an interview Monday that the 2024 election is among the things that keep her up at night.
Obama, who turns 60 later this month, sat down with Jay Shetty for more than an hour for an episode of his On Purpose podcast.
She never used former President Donald Trump's name, but told Shetty she feared that Americans were taking 'democracy for granted,' echoing the concerns President Joe Biden shared during his Valley Forge speech Friday.

With US forces under regular attack across the Mideast and the Navy actively engaged with Houthi forces in the Red Sea, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was out of commission in the hospital from Monday on.
Worse, no one told the White House; worse yet, neither President Biden nor National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan noticed. Not until the Pentagon let Sullivan know on Thursday.
Anyone thinking that the nation is well-led despite Biden’s blatant feebleness better think again: Austin and his deputies ignored the law here, while Sullivan was plainly asleep at the switch.
Again, with American forces regularly under fire, and our friends in Ukraine and Israel fully at war

Well, well, well… isn’t this interesting. In a court filing today, one of the co-defendants in the Fulton County election case against President Trump is presenting very specific details of an intimate relationship between District Attorney Fani Willis and the Special Prosecutor she hired, Nathan Wade. At first review, if the allegations are true, DA Willis had a financial motivation to initiate the case against Trump, as her boyfriend was the primary financial beneficiary. The filing documents how Fani Willis and Nathan Wade took several extravagant vacations and indulged in an exclusive lifestyle as the result of payments Willis’s office made to Wade.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been hospitalized since Jan. 1 for complications following a surgery to treat prostate cancer, officials at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center said Tuesday.
The news of Austin's treatment and condition came after a tortious week during which Austin was hospitalized, but the Pentagon refused to say why. Austin underwent the initial prostate cancer surgery on Dec. 25, during which he was under general anesthesia, according to doctors from Walter Reed.
On Jan. 1, Austin experienced complications from the surgery including nausea and severe abdominal, hip and leg pain, which was later identified as a urinary tract infection. On Jan. 2, he was

A US Navy serviceman who admitted to accepting bribes from a Chinese intelligence officer in exchange for sensitive US military information has been sentenced to more than two years in federal prison.
US District Judge R. Gary Klausner on Monday handed down the 27-month prison sentence to Petty Officer Wenheng Zhao, 26, of Monterey Park, Calif.
The Justice Department had sought a sentence of 37 months, arguing that Zhao had obstructed the government’s investigation.
In October, Zhao pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring with a Chinese intelligence officer and one count of receiving a bribe, both felonies.

This week’s Liberal Media Scream is a five-screamer featuring an ABC host and former Clinton handler acting as judge, jury, and executioner of former President Donald Trump and his effort to remain on the 2024 primary ballots and let voters, not partisan state officials, decide his fate.
ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, on his Sunday show This Week, was quizzing his panel about the campaigns in some states to declare Trump ineligible for election because an official decided that the former president triggered a 14th Amendment ban on insurrectionists.

Yikes! Barack Obama is so freaked-out with how Joe Biden’s re-election campaign is going that there was a leak in the press that things must change right now.
Democrat panic is real, y’all, and everyone is worried that Biden isn’t able to win re-election. During a previously unreported private lunch meeting with Biden, Obama spoke directly about the structure of Biden’s re-election campaign. He told aides and allies of the president that they need to be empowered to make decisions without clearing them first with the White House.
Three people familiar with the lunch meeting said that Obama grew “animated” as he discussed the 2024 election and the

Although Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin failed to inform the White House about his recent hospitalization, President Joe Biden (D) is not considering firing him, Politico reported Monday.
The outlet cited a group of senior administration officials. If Austin were to issue a resignation Biden would refuse it, a person among them said. “Austin’s going nowhere,” one official told Politico. The report noted Republicans have been calling for Biden to dismiss the defense secretary. (Photo) During a recent interview, Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) told Fox News, “Apparently the National Security Council didn’t know it, the White House didn’t know it, congress didn’t know it.”
