A pandering “bottom up…middle out” pay bump for federal employees celebrated by President Joe Biden was panned as a “slap in the face to ordinary Americans” heading into an election year.
With the swipe of a pen Thursday, the president delivered an early Christmas present to federal workers even larger than the year before in the form of a 5.2% taxpayer-funded raise. While sycophants celebrated the highest increase of its kind since 1980, as in around the last time inflation was soaring, realists doused cold water on the move.

What a hero. He steals from us to pay his Pretorian Guard.

When did he become the house of reps?

We know Congress won’t say a word, since they gave themselves a 21% increase right before inflation surged.

Biggest raise since 1980. But not the ONLY! There've been increases along the way since then. Wondering how the collective increase in federal workers, and congress persons raises stack up against the average workers. (Not counting CEOs, and professional ball players.)

". . . the biggest increase since 1980." I.e., the biggest increase since Jimmy Carter's hyperinflation led to his defeat by Ronald Reagan. Nothing to "gloat about," Joe . . .

Yes #3, just like a few Congressmen admitted the vacations in August, break in September, and leaving DC on the 14th for long Christmas break was absolutely lazy and shameful for House members. Yet nobody was going to make an issue of it, were they? Aw, who cares if the economy is falling apart, right?

I'm getting one percent which will be wiped out by an increase in health insurance premiums.

Many in the private sector went years with no raise if their companies were not doing well.
Our government is a jobs program for those who will not or can not work in the private sector.

Just making sure that Fairfax County, Alexandria, Prince William County, and all the other folks in Northern Virginia continue to vote straight Democrat ticket, outweighing the rest of the state.

And seniors get a paltry 3.2%. My FPL increase alone was more than that!!! Thanks Biden.

Aren't we all supposed to believe that federal employees are poor underpaid wage slaves who toil endless hours to make things run like clockwork? In reality, they are mostly a bunch of overpaid bureaucrats with excellent pay and benefits, pensions, and every holiday (real and imagined) off. They move at the speed of a snail and are the poster child for affirmative action. They would have gotten a raise either way. This increase was most likely a gift to their unions during an election year.

The poor people waiting for ‘bottom up…middle out.’ Don’t they have to get jobs? Like from ‘top down’ people and businesses?

My paycheck definitely appreciates it, but it doesn't come close to making up for the ravaging effects of his inflationary policies.

This ensures that VA will be a blue state in the federal election in 2024. Buying votes, the Democrat way!

This is only an admission that inflation is causing the dollar to go less far.
It should be called an inflationary raise.

With 'Bidenomics' doing so well, according to Slojoe and his media echos, why is this big of a raise needed?

Sure, give a pay raise to those that produce nothing. We can't export government to make a profit. No one is buying government on Amazon. How many stores had Christmas specials on government?

Congress has been rendered irrelevant, just like under Obama. Oh, I forgot, Obama is still president.

Outrageous but not unexpected from the pile of bat guano now festering in our White House. Thanks for the increase in social security, Joe. I'll try not to buy too many loaves of bread with it. You truly are Obama's furry little pet rat with one exception, rats are smart.
