The woman accused of attempted arson at the birth home of Martin Luther King Jr. is a decorated military veteran, according to officials.
Laneisha Shantrice Henderson, 26, is a veteran surface warfare specialist in the US Navy and received multiple awards during her service.
Henderson received a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct medal during her service.
She was also given the Navy “E” ribbon, among other awards.
Henderson has been charged with attempted arson and interfering with government property after she was seen on camera pouring the flammable liquid out of a large red fuel containe

Very interesting. It looks like the home is in a neighborhood which has not massively changed. I was wondering if the land was somehow conflicting with some developer's scheme to make big bucks in some building project and "needed" to have a "tragic fire".
On inexplicable acts, it is good to fall back on the 2000+ year old "Cui bono?" inquiry. For the non-Latin scholars, that means "To whose benefit?". A very good question here.
Who would benefit if that home were just gone? Look around for land developers, etc in the area, I would suggest. Perhaps she's just doing a job for hire....and not so bright to do it at 2 AM.

You get the National Defense medal for surviving basic training. You get Good Conduct for staying out of trouble for a few years. Dont know what the E is for but its likely just another "everybody" ribbon. The fact that the other ribbons werent named suggests the same.
This is no war hero.

Maybe she just thought King was white or didn't do enough to actually make HER white. Or as others suggest, watching her methodically pouring fuel, maybe she WAS paid to torch the house.

I don't call those medals being decorated. Although they are merely decorations.
Noe are for Valor of any sort.

E ribbon is a "Unit Efficiency" tab. Everyone aboard the ship,or perhaps the entire fleet, gets one after an exercise.

She did it in broad daylight. Not even tried to conceal what she was doing. She didn’t fight. One of the offscreen bystanders can be heard advising the man who restrained her how to hold her. I guess she might have been reminiscing about the episode with George Floyd. Meanwhile the perp did no struggling. These are all just weird visuals, don’t you think?

not to tarnish the young lady's military service but ....
- those awards are give-aways for the different services and all you have to do is be on active duty during the time of a "conflict" and you get the NDSM and
- the Good Conduct award is just a pat on the back for not bothering your company level commanders who would oversee Article 15 proceedings at the Company level
- if she did her job and didn't make any waves she'd get these awards
- the "E" award must be peculiar to the Navy and must reflect some level of adequate job performance so, good for her but
- she probably should have stayed in and made it a profession .... then .... she could pat herself on the back for a job well done and have a pretty good pension to carry her throughout her life, depending on her rank which, if you pay attention and do your job the military is appreciative of that and promotes you without you having to ask for a raise in rank and pay
- the military service is self promoting and how you do your job is all that matters, as far as rising through the ranks and gaining self respect and respect from your peers

There is no actual E-medal...it is a tab only, and as such in Dress Uniform the tab gets moved to above the right pocket, rather than the left. It originally was just a small sleeve patch, but new uniform design deleted it, so an female AZ3(aircraft maintenance bookeeper/clerk, lowest grade with 1.5 years service) who's hawkeye unit(airborne early warning prop plane) had earned 2 of them, designed and pushed through the approval for the tab replacing it in 1976. Upper grade AZ's include drug/alcohol counselors and diversity focused, equal opportunity advisors.

It seems to me that a black woman attempting to burn down Martin Luther King Jr.'s home is a much more intriguing story than any participation medals she (Laneisha Shantrice) might have gotten while in the Navy.
But hey. I'm not in the media and, I suppose, the perp receiving a Good Conduct medal is more important to the story than her dousing King's home down with a flammable fluid.

Atlanta and its residents seem to have a propensity toward arson. Margret Mitchel's landmark house was a victim of 2 arson fires in the '90s.

Every member of the military gets a National Defense Ribbon right out of boot camp. Most of them get a "Good Conduct Medal" for behaving like a normal human being. Anything else she got was due to skin color. Don't try to baffle us with bullschiff. I left the Navy with a bunch of medals for doing nothing more than getting up every day and doing my job. Many blacks are unhappy with MLK's message because he suggested that they help themselves.

This story has already been poured down the communist media's memory hole - - never to be seen again.
If the perp were a white male - - it would be George Floyd Hoax Part II.

While we are on the topic of Military Decorations....Beau Biden's Bronze Star for Conspicuous Service was simply because Joe Biden made him "Conspicuous", by constantly mentioning him in campaign speeches, appearances and visit's during his 7 months "Training Civilian Judges" in one of Saddam's Palaces, far from ANY expended ordinance. Beau was also the sitting elected AG of Delaware at the time, had just been elected then "Volunteered" to be deployed, while still holding(and neglecting) his official AG duties. He was given a waiver but "Insisted" upon going, Joe had to twist arms and apply pressure to GET him deployed, over other JAG officers with better qualifications, longer service, and that were Active Duty/Career soldiers rather than over aged reservists. .

Look at what John Kerry was awarded for getting a few splinters in his butt! I used to do that every time I worked on my roof or was bounced off my motorcycle.

Sounds like her medals were 'being there medals' they give to everyone so they can feel important...here's your participation trophy. It's worthless but really "Pretty".
Those of us with REAL Combat medals CRINGE!
