House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. James Comer (R-KY) said Friday on CNN’s “The Lead” that he believed Hunter Biden was indicted by federal prosecutor David Weiss on nine federal tax counts on Thursday to protect his father President Joe Biden.
Comer said, “What he got charged with, with that indictment last night, that had nothing to do with all of the so-called loans that the Bidens have taken. We’ve identified, it appears, with the president’s son and brother, over $14 million in loans where it doesn’t look like they made any payments on, principal or interest. And what point do those loans, if you’re not

United Nations— The United States vetoed a United Nations resolution Friday backed by almost all other Security Council members and dozens of other nations demanding an immediate humanitarian cease-fire in Gaza. Supporters called it a terrible day and warned of more civilian deaths and destruction as the war goes into its third month.
The vote in the 15-member council was 13-1, with the United Kingdom abstaining. The United States’ isolated stand reflected a growing fracture between Washington and some of its closest allies over Israel’s monthslong bombardment of Gaza. France and Japan were among those supporting the call for a cease-fire.

Billboards plastered with the phrase 'New York City Welcomes Immigrants' are popping up across El Paso, promising migrants that it's a 'sanctuary city.'
The signs have appeared around the Texas border city in the last few days on roadside announcements and on the sides of trucks.
A member of 'Concerned Americans,' the group behind the billboards, explained the messages are meant to let border crossers know New York, Chicago and San Francisco are open to having them in their community.

In 1983, the Reagan administration published a report titled “A Nation at Risk: The Imperative of Education Reform.” The report warned that the decay of American schools was threatening the country’s very survival. But the powerful amalgamation of teachers’ unions, state bureaucracies, and the Democrat establishment defeated the initiative. Committed to preserving the status quo, this special interest group became the guardian of American education, maintaining complete control of the education curriculum and using its position to subvert innovation in education. No surprise, this group enjoys the systematic support of the Democratic Party and the Biden administration.

The congressional hearings on anti-Semitism in higher education this week were a disaster for Harvard, MIT and Penn. The presidents of these schools showed the nation how insane our college campuses have become in recent years.
Now Republicans of the Committee on Education are opening a formal investigation into these schools.
There is nothing these schools would love more than for this public relations nightmare to end and fade into history but this investigation ensures that isn’t going to happen. The public is going to learn even more about what is happening at these schools.

As we reported here and here, Hunter Biden was indicted on nine tax counts on Thursday, including four counts of failure to pay taxes, two counts of filing false tax documents, two counts of failure to file taxes, and one count of tax evasion. The indictment alleges that Joe Biden's wayward son engaged in a "four-year scheme" not to pay taxes of at least $1.4 million. What's that you say? Bah, humbug!?

When CNN announced they were hosting two debates for the GOPe candidates in Iowa and New Hampshire, the supposition was that the RNC had given two debates to the network. The assumption was because the RNC, and the four remaining first-loser candidates, had previously held an agreement that only RNC sanctioned debates would be permitted, and the candidates would only attend RNC sanctioned debates.
However, it turns out that fake news CNN went rogue in organizing the unsanctioned debates.

They say all press is good press, but I'm not sure Deadspin agrees with that after the shellacking it took for trying to destroy a nine-year-old Kansas City Chiefs fan.
The saga began in Las Vegas with the young boy attending a Chiefs road game against the Raiders. A side-profile picture emerged of him wearing a Native American headdress and black face paint. One of the columnists at Deadspin then had the brilliant idea of accusing the kid of wearing "blackface," publishing his photo to go viral for all the world to see.
It wasn't long before the real story came out, though:

One could reduce Joe Biden's "campaign" so far to one word: lethargic. I'm not sure what they are going to do to change the sense of the American people that he's too old and shouldn't be running. So far, they've just sent him out to protected campaign reception environments, and he hasn't been doing anything where he's going to get a big challenge or be truly taxed to explain himself. He's not doing anything that's going to move that needle.
We've seen his team is at a bit of a loss. They had been pushing "Bidenomics" as a "thing," thinking that they could pitch his "success" that way.

We are currently in the midst of the holiday of Hanukkah, a holiday of celebrating light over darkness based on miracles that happened in the second century B.C.E. It is a holiday that reminds us of the power of God’s light and was certainly a holiday that Jesus observed, as did every Jew of his time living under Roman rule.
The word Hanukkah actually means “dedication," and it commemorates the dedication of the Temple in Jerusalem as well as the dedication of the Maccabees in their war against evil. We may celebrate the holiday by lighting the Hanukkah Menorah (Hanukkiah), but there is one question that arises out of the holiday

The 56-page indictment of Hunter Biden for tax evasion makes for racy reading, with the special counsel describing a four-year criminal pattern directed at maintaining Biden’s “extravagant lifestyle.”
That lifestyle included massive expenses for strippers, sex clubs, fast cars and other distractions.
The steps taken by Hunter to evade taxes are impressive, but not nearly as impressive as the efforts of the Justice Department to evade any direct implications for his father, President Biden.
In that sense, the indictment itself is a marvel of evasion.
There are three glaring omissions in the indictment that tend to shield critical payments and conduct that implicate the president.

WASHINGTON — A federal appeals court in Washington, D.C., on Friday upheld but narrowed the gag order that had been imposed on former President Donald Trump in his election interference case prohibiting him from making critical comments about potential witnesses and prosecutors.
"We agree with the district court that some aspects of Mr. Trump’s public statements pose a significant and imminent threat to the fair and orderly adjudication of the ongoing criminal proceeding, warranting a speech-constraining protective order," the appeals court ruled. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Hezbollah not to initiate a third Lebanon war with Israel, hours after the Iranian proxy group guided missile attack killed a 60-year-old Israeli man in northern Israel.
“If Hezbollah chooses to start an all-out war, then it will single-handedly turn Beirut and South Lebanon, not far from here, into Gaza and Khan Yunis. We are determined to bring victory, and we will do it with your help,” Netanyahu said.

United States regulators have approved the first therapy that uses a technology called CRISPR for gene editing.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a treatment for sickle cell disease that uses a technology called CRISPR, which can edit the genome to fix mistakes and reverse disease.
Sickle cell disease is caused by a genetic mistake that causes the body to produce malformed red blood cells, which can cause severe and debilitating pain. These therapies aim to fix that genetic mistake by introducing a functional version of the gene into the body. Former President Donald Trump is urging supporters to “guard the vote” during next year’s election, a phrase that has set off alarm bells among pro-democracy advocates who say it signals permission to take extreme measures that could intimidate voters and threaten election workers.
The phrase is a relatively novel one for Trump, though activists in the far-right movement have been setting the groundwork for it to be deployed more widely.
Former national security adviser Michael Flynn has spent months repeating the phrase in posts, speeches and interviews.

After October 7, the public was shocked at what they saw and heard on America's campuses.
Americans knew previously they were intolerant, leftwing, and increasingly non-meritocratic.
But immediately after October 7 -- and even before the response of the Israeli Defense Forces -- the sheer student delight on news of the mass murdering of Israeli victims seemed akin more to 1930s Germany than contemporary America.
Indeed, not a day goes by when a university professor or student group has not spouted antisemitic hatred. Often, they threaten and attack Jewish students, or engage in mass demonstrations calling for the extinction of Israel.
Why and how did purportedly enlightened universities become incubators of such primordial hatred?

Something has changed inside the Department of Justice, though it’s unclear exactly what might be going on under the covers. After years of stalling and obfuscation, doing everything possible to keep First Son Hunter Biden out of any legal trouble, the DOJ filed nine new charges against Hunter last night. None of them are trivial and three are quite serious. He was hit with three felony tax evasion charges and six related misdemeanors. The unpaid taxes add up to $1.4 million and they carry the potential of up to 17 years in prison. This is going to put Joe Biden in a very awkward position in short order and

However, the American people must be made aware of what exactly is occurring at COP28 simply because the ideas and policies being espoused by the hundreds of global leaders attending the annual event are downright terrifying and would cause undue harm to billions of people.

US House Committee hearings are dull unless there’s a topic, like the weaponization of the FBI, where fireworks will start popping off from Matt Gaetz and others. The House Committee on Education hearing was somewhat low-key but riddled with appalling moments, like when three college heads from MIT, Harvard and UPenn endorsed Jewish genocide. They were asked point blank by Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) if such harassment violated their respective campuses' codes of conduct, among other things. All three gave academic answers, essentially saying that context is everything. In other words, they don’t condemn those calling for the mass slaughter of Jews, opting to protect the pro-terrorist cohorts,

Two tourists from Utah viewing the home were able to intervene to stop the suspect, police said.
One witness recalled the suspect began to grow irritated after she was having trouble spreading the fuel around the property, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.

Recently, and increasingly frequently, we have been told not to believe what we see with our own eyes but instead to accept as true an altered, massaged interpretation of the facts designed to achieve a calculated political goal.
This exercise has come to be called a “narrative.” They’re everywhere. Climate. Gender. War. Illegal aliens. Debt. Race. The presidential election of 2020.
The evidence that it was stolen from Donald Trump is overwhelming. But we can’t be allowed to believe what we see with our own eyes.
So we’re fed a narrative.

Right. We’re all going to save our country[Snip]Fast forward to Donald Trump, same thing: America first and a peace maker--for bringing the troops home, saving the tens of billions of dollars that would have gone into those pointless wars, striking peace agreements in the Middle East, the Abraham Accords, historic, historic peacemaking. They can’t have that, cannot have it. The forces we are up against are so dangerous, they will destroy, they will ruin. They will kill you. And this is what I mean about the spiritual nature of the battle that we are in. This is a spiritual war.

Experts said Hunter Biden's nine new criminal charges will be damning for his father's presidential campaign and makes Joe Biden look like a liar for denying he knew about his son's business dealings.
On Thursday, the Department of Justice indicted the first son on nine charges relate to tax, including two felony charges for filing a false return, a felony charge for tax evasion, four failure to pay charges and a further two charges for failure to file.
George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley said the bombshell news makes it impossible for the president refute he had ties to his son's business dealings and that denying it is comparable

It was a house-swarming party.
Residents of southeastern Mexico were left in shock after a biblical proportion of locusts swallowed the region’s skies, leading many — including local media — to evoke passages from the books of Exodus and Revelation.
The plague unfolded this week in Mérida and nearby Sinanché in the Yucatan area, with local authorities struggling to mitigate the midge-like insects.
“I won’t open my mouth again!” one X user posted Wednesday in Spanish alongside a photo of the locust invasion.

The White House is frantically trying to distance itself from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) after its executive director Nihad Awad claimed he was “happy” to watch the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attack unfold. Comer's statement comes after it was revealed that the Department of Justice filed nine new criminal charges against U.S. President Joe Biden's son, Hunter, in California.
All nine charges relate to tax, including two felony charges for filing a false return, a felony charge for tax evasion, four failure to pay charges, and a further two charges for failure to file. The charges span the 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 tax years.

While Democrats push for the erasure of biological reality in California, Californians are increasingly rejecting the gender ideology and its outcomes, a November poll found.
Deseret News reported on the results of the poll Wednesday, noting that lawmakers’ embrace of transgenderism appears to be wildly out of step with what Californians actually believe. For several years, Democrats in the state have led the charge: in 2019, they passed the Gender Recognition Act, which allows individuals to change their sex on government documentation. Another law, SB107, turned California into a “sanctuary state” for transgender youth who are fleeing other states to pursue sex-change hormones and procedures.
