As Nikki Haley nabs endorsements from Republican kingmakers, some wealthy Democratic donors also have begun quietly funneling cash to her campaign, On The Money has learned.
In a desperate bid to chip away at Donald Trump’s odds for the GOP nomination, a coterie of DNC donors are sending checks to Haley — even as they continue to publicly voice support for Biden and push for his White House bid, sources said.
Deep-pocketed participants view the unusual diversion of funds as an “opposition effort” against another Trump presidency, according to insiders.
“If we’re going to lose, let’s lose to her, not Trump,” one source said of Democratic donors’ thinking.

Democrats are losing ground with people of color.
The percentage of black Americans who voted Republican in the 2022 midterms nearly doubled compared to the 2018 cycle. Asian American support for Democrats is slumping generation over generation. And young Latinos are increasingly registering without a party affiliation.
It’s a historic shift that threatens to shake up the upcoming presidential election, as Biden’s polling numbers continue to sink dramatically among voters of color — and particularly younger ones in battleground states.

The House passed a bipartisan measure Thursday that would block Iran from ever accessing the $6 billion recently transferred by the U.S. in a prisoner swap, a step Republicans pushed in response to the nation’s alleged role in the deadly attacks last month by Hamas on Israel.
The measure — titled the No Funds for Iranian Terrorism Act — passed 307-119 as Republicans sought to hold the Biden administration accountable for what they call their complicity in funding Iranian-backed terrorism in the Middle East.
“With such instability in the region, the last thing we need to do is to give access to $6 billion to be diverted to more Iranian-sponsored terrorism,

Someone in China created thousands of fake social media accounts designed to appear to be from Americans and used them to spread polarizing political content in an apparent effort to divide the U.S. ahead of next year’s elections, Meta said Thursday.
The network of nearly 4,800 fake accounts was attempting to build an audience when it was identified and eliminated by the tech company, which owns Facebook and Instagram. The accounts sported fake photos, names and locations as a way to appear like everyday American Facebook users weighing in on political issues.

California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom and Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis are meeting in a nationally televised event on Thursday night that will feature two young, high-profile leaders with presidential aspirations who may have to wait for future cycles to realize them.
Newsom, 56, has talked about eventually running for president but is backing President Joe Biden ‘s reelection in 2024. DeSantis, 45, entered the 2024 GOP presidential race six months ago as the perceived top challenger to Donald Trump, only to fail to dent the former president’s commanding early lead in the party’s primary.

The U.S. government is willing to help build enough new clean energy projects in the Pacific Northwest to replace the hydropower generated by four controversial dams on the Snake River, according to a leaked Biden administration document that is giving hope to conservationists who have long sought the removal of the dams as a key to restoring depleted salmon runs.
Still, Congress would have to agree before any of the Lower Snake River dams in Washington state are removed, and that’s unlikely to happen in the near future.

A pro-Palestinian protest took a chilling turn Saturday as hundreds of demonstrators packed Columbus Circle, at one point dragging a burning Israeli flag down the street and issuing a chilling warning for those who support Israel: “Your days are numbered.”
“For those who support genocide in the U.S. your days are numbered and are coming to an end,” one organizer yelled into a microphone.
“U.S. government is the #1 funder of Israel terrorism.”
Roughly 300 demonstrators started at Columbus Circle around 2 p.m. and marched up the West Side to the American Museum of Natural History.

World War II began in September 1939. But the reason the War lasted five and a half years were the policies of England, United States and Russia in the 6 years leading up to the outbreak of the War. Despite all of the tricks of the Nazi Party in Germany, they did not hide their ideology of the Germans being a master race, the Jews being vermin, and their goals of expansionism to the West and East of Germany. However, following the deep human cost in World War I, nearly every country was not anxious to get involved in a world conflict again. That natural inclination was correct.

A map, published by Christianophobie.fr, which marks with a red pin every spot where a church in France was attacked between just 2017-2018, looks like a war zone. Virtually the entire map of France is covered in red. Even Snopes, which presents itself as the final arbiter on what is real or fake news, admitted the accuracy of the map, while trying to minimize its findings...
One wonders if [Snopes] would be so casual if a Christian vandalized a mosque, or broke into a mosque while screaming Christian slogans?

Senators of both parties appear poised to take unprecedented procedural steps to break the months-long hold on hundreds of military nominations by Senator Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., over his opposition to President Biden’s decision to change abortion policy in the uniformed services without the consent of Congress. The Senate stayed past midnight on Wednesday of last week in an attempt by a handful of Republican senators to break the logjam and confirm some of the nominations before adjourning for Thanksgiving, but were rebuffed by other Republicans who stood by their colleague in his procedural move.

Republican Celeste Maloy beat state Sen. Kathleen Riebe, a self-described moderate, to win Utah's special election Tuesday night, filling the last remaining open seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The Associated Press called the race at 8:36 p.m. local time.
The election, which was held in Utah's 2nd Congressional District, was triggered by the resignation of former Republican Rep. Chris Stewart, who left Congress in September due to his wife's unspecified illness.

Equality has always been an American preoccupation, right from the words “all men are created equal” in the Declaration of Independence.
And even that phrase is not egalitarian enough by today’s lights — feminists have long objected to the gendered language of “all men.”
Thomas Jefferson didn’t mean to commit a microaggression: In 1776, “all men” meant women, too.
We know that because the Founding Fathers — must we say Founding Parents? — argued about the mismatch between their philosophy and the endemic inequalities of their time,
