Representative Jim Jordan (R., Ohio) failed to secure the speaker’s gavel for the second time in a Wednesday afternoon vote that saw Republican support for the hardline Ohio lawmaker shrink slightly from where it stood on the first ballot.
With the entire Democratic caucus falling in line behind House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Jordan could only afford to lose a handful of Republican votes after 20 GOP holdouts voted against him on Tuesday, costing him the gavel on the first ballot.
Jordan’s team appears to have lost ground since then, as 22 House Republicans voted against the party’s nominee in Wednesday’s vote. Representative Pete Stauber (R., Minn.) switched his allegiances

The Republican circular firing squad does it again. Idiots. The democrats were all laughing and applauding. Seeing Pelosi’s laughing and clapping made me want to puke and scream at these stupid congress jerks.

What do they want? Whom are they looking for? I am about to re-register as an independent. If they cannot work this out, quickly, they have lost me. It's just a big game and what happens to us and this country is not on their agenda. I am disgusted. I will always be a conservative but I am about to drop the Republican.

Pass the popcorn. And the beer. Make it a six-pack.
Guessing there are some elephants in the room. Donald Trump is one. Ukraine is another. Lots of egos too. These issues are keeping the Republicans reaching the necessary votes.

Vote is an indication that Biden will never be impeached by the House no matter how many millions in bribes were paid to Joe and his crime family. Also confirms that no other members of the Biden regime will be impeached for violating their oaths of office. Finally, rejection of Jim Jordan surely means that the Repubs will lose their narrow control of the House in 2024.

So the House of Representatives flipped to Republican in November 2022 election and now they are thumbing their noses at the voters? And then you have the other party laughing and applauding. Do these Republican House of Representatives realize they are embarrassing their own party?

IMHO at least half of the currently comprised republicans in both houses of congress really are democrats.

If Jeffries becomes Speaker, does that mean there will be no more investigations of Joe, Hunter and the rest?

I'm with number two. Life long Republican but I'm so disgusted I'm going to re-register as an independent. The Demosocialist had no problem electing Pelosi and corrupt moron over and over and now Hakeem the election denier extraordinaire but somehow Jordan is too radical for these milctoast Pubbies.
I'm done!!!!

When will the wimpy Republicans totally surrender and vote in the Democrat socialist Hakeem Jefferies as the Speaker showing their true colors?

"Refuse to unite behind the Republican hardliner". What an absolute crock of *hit. This country is so screwed and two of the biggest reasons are the despicable liars in the media, who are only topped by the always backstabbing rinos. Truth be told, the rinos shouldn't be there, but since we have so many feckless Republican voters who won't vote these vermin out in the primaries. . .Well, here we are!

The people who wanted McCarthy out said they didn't like how he worked with Democrats. Now, the Republicans ae playing into Democrats hands and act like they are working with Democrats in preventing a new Speaker from being elected. NOBODY will every meet their conservative purity standard. They also now say they need a uniter who can work with Democrats. What? These fools are saying one thing, doing another and looking foolish while they fall into the Democrat political traps. Republicans are acting like fools.

Last election I told my rep that if he keeps voting like a Democrat I will start voting for a real Democrat. This is in the Red state of Idaho.

According to Steve Bannon, the lobbyists got hold of the RINO Republicans and turned them away from Jordan. Nothing like the influence of big money!

By the way, since Nancy Pelosi and fellow Democrats were laughing and applauding, might I remind them that the devil never has problems finding followers and uniting. . .

Any time now we can expect to see memes with McCarthy asking, “Miss me yet?” And even if you don’t, one thing this process is making clear is that the Speaker’s job is a “little” more challenging than a lot of people realized.

It's become quite obvious that the republicans cannot be trusted to do what's in the best interest of the country....they are bought and paid for by democrats and Pelosi is enjoying every moment of turmoil...and the defectors have obviously been bought off by the rinos like George will and Romney....it just proves just how much WE need President Trump in charge.....

Every time you hear that gavel pound no winner, a Republican gets less votes at home. Come on guys! In the immortal words of B. Franklin, if you don't hang together, surely you will hang separately.

Keep arguing for another 13 months. Then the issue will be moot, as you will no longer be in charge. Idiots.
Our choices: Corrupt Democrats or Incompetent Republicans.
