One of the false narratives we hear over and over again from gun-control proponents on the left is that good guys with guns do not stop bad guys with guns, and we therefore need to ban “assault weapons.” I put that phrase in quotes because radical progressives don’t have a very specific definition of what constitutes such a class of firearm. That’s because the looser the parameters for what can be considered an assault weapon, the more guns they can fit into the category.
Good guys can’t stop bad guys with guns in every situation. This is especially true when laws exist that prevent them from carrying weapons that could potentially

Jack Torrance, the raging alcoholic character in The Shining, screamed famously in the movie, “I’m back!”
Another such character in the real-life horror movie called COVID-19, is the face mask. And like Jack Torrance, the mask is beginning to shout, “I’m back!”
According to the CDC, COVID hospitalizations and deaths are creeping up a bit, but overall the numbers are low compared to a few years ago. There is also the issue of “with versus from” COVID. Someone hospitalized for back or heart surgery who tests positive for COVID will be counted a COVID hospitalization. This is vastly different from a patient with respiratory failure or pneumonia from COVID.

Over the weekend I spent a good part of one day helping a friend do some work in his garage. At one point we realized we needed a small adapter for his socket set and a few other small items so we made a run to the hardware store.
Until recently there had been an Ace hardware just a couple miles from his house but earlier this year that store closed. Usually, stores don’t announce why they are closing but my friend said he believed they were having problems with retail theft.
We wound up driving a couple extra miles to the next closest Ace hardware

Joe Biden has actually been receiving quite a bit of criticism for all the tall tales he’s told. Heck, even the Washington Post decided to catalogue Biden’s lies about his biography. In the past couple of weeks, he’s told the same bogus story about a small kitchen fire in order to empathize with victims of the Maui wildfires and Hurricane Idalia in Florida. Few can question his commitment to the lies he tells, even when they’ve been debunked, but one would think that in light of the fact that even his allies in the media are pointing out that his yarns are, at best, gross exaggerations and, at worst,

As the nation wrestles with yet another mass shooting, this time in Jacksonville, Florida, a new report provides some troubling news for the anti-gunner lobby, which exploits these tragedies to push for more restrictions on gun ownership. However, the numbers do provide some good news for proponents of the 2nd Amendment and those who understand that decent people with guns save lives. he Jacksonville shooting not only reignited conversations about racism but also about gun rights. However, as always, these discussions neglect a significant factor in this debate: The role of armed citizens in preventing or mitigating mass shootings. The Crime Prevention

Rising crime has been a plague under the Biden regime, largely spurred by prosecutors who refuse to enforce the law, thereby incentivizing criminal activity. That's been especially true when it comes to so-called "smash and grab" robberies. Sometimes carried out with a group of thieves and other times done solo, the technique is to rush into a place of business and steal high-value items. Technology and jewelry stores have become prime targets.
Nowhere is the problem worse than in California due to Prop 47, which reduces some felony thefts to misdemeanors. That has created an environment where criminals can steal at will, knowing that they will likely

NEW YORK (AP) — Those attending outdoor parties or barbecues in New York City this weekend may notice an uninvited guest looming over their festivities: a police surveillance drone.
The New York City police department plans to pilot the unmanned aircrafts in response to complaints about large gatherings, including private events, over Labor Day weekend, officials announced Thursday.
“If a caller states there’s a large crowd, a large party in a backyard, we’re going to be utilizing our assets to go up and go check on the party,” Kaz Daughtry, the assistant NYPD Commissioner, said at a press conference.
The plan drew immediate backlash from privacy

Joe Biden is in Florida for his brief photo-op meeting with first responders regarding Hurricane Idalia.
But once again, he couldn't manage to get through even that short period without telling some whoppers and pushing his political agenda. As I reported earlier, he made a weird, snotty comment regarding Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. He was asked about DeSantis saying that he couldn't meet with him because the presidential visit was "very disruptive" -- in other words, he shouldn't be coming while the emergency is still on. Biden shot back at the reporter, "Do you [think it's disruptive]?" DeSantis is still having to deal with the crisis, he doesn't have time

This week, the head women’s lacrosse coach at Oberlin College in Ohio broke her silence about how she was “burned at the stake” for opposing “transgender” biological males in women’s sports.
The coach, Kim Russell, 56, reportedly published an Instagram post congratulating Emma Weyant for being the “real winner” of the 500-yard freestyle at the NCAA championships last year after she came in second place to Will “Lia” Thomas, the “transgender” swimmer who made women feel uncomfortable in their own locker room and robbed them of awards and opportunities.
According to the Independent Women’s Forum, one of Russell’s own players reported her to the school’s athletic director.

Having recently posted an article in which I ask the rhetorical question “Is Joe Biden the Worst President in History,” I felt an andiron piece with regard to my own country might be appropriate. Is Justin Trudeau the worst prime minister in history? The answer is, “Well, probably.” He’s a work in accelerated progress, though it must be said that he had immense help along the way: a compliant Parliament, an appointed Senate, a complicit Judiciary, and a bought-and-paid-for media have been loyally riding shotgun. Trudeau is perhaps the most disappointing, unctuous, and injurious prime minister ever to occupy the seat of power in Canada.

Two ubiquitous phrases in debates about policing and criminal-justice policy are “nonviolent crime” and “nonviolent offender.” Are these categorizations really useful? The best test of whether an offense or offender is truly nonviolent is to intervene and try to put a stop to a so-called low-level offense and see what reaction you get. It’s not hard to see how getting involved in many such scenarios could prove dangerous. Tragically, a recent case in San Francisco illustrates these dangers vividly.
Five days after sustaining serious injuries, a San Francisco store clerk named Yowhannes “John” Tewelde has died. He was beaten with a baseball bat by a man

Desperate to take the focus off the FBI’s investigation into her use of a private server during her tenure as secretary of state, Hillary Clinton and her sycophants strangled reality beyond all recognition to build the case that then-candidate Donald Trump was an agent of Russia. Although Clinton lost the 2016 election, their efforts mired Trump’s campaign and then his nascent presidency in scandal for three years. And to this day, no one has been held responsible for what, up until then, had been the dirtiest political trick in modern memory.
Disappointed by special counsel Robert Mueller’s failure to deliver, Democrats latched onto Trump’s July 2019 phone call with
