A Russian soprano — once among the biggest stars in the Metropolitan Opera — is suing the company for alleged breach of contract, defamation and other violations when they dropped her after the start of Moscow’s war on Ukraine.
Anna Netrebko, 51, who had voiced pro-Kremlin views over the years, said the Met Opera’s decision to cut ties left her with ”severe mental anguish and emotional distress” and tanked her reputation, according to the lawsuit filed Friday in Manhattan federal court.

An attorney for former President Trump spent Sunday fiercely defending his client in a series of TV interviews that aimed to reset the narrative in the case related to Trump’s efforts to cling to power after losing the 2020 presidential election.
John Lauro, one of two attorneys who were alongside Trump last week during his arraignment, appeared on all five major Sunday morning political TV shows, collectively known as a “full Ginsburg” — albeit a modern-day one since he was not in the studio for all five — where he continued to mold his legal defense of the former president.

Washington Post reached for superlatives last year in describing Matthew Continetti’s The Right. This voice of the establishment Left explained that Continetti, besides being an AEI senior fellow and a onetime distinguished editor of the Washington Free Beacon, may be the premier intellectual historian of the American Right. Continetti’s admirers found something exceptional in his analytic examination of his controversial subject. WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump’s defense attorney says the former president never asked Mike Pence to overturn the will of the voters in the 2020 election, but only wanted the former vice president to “pause” the certification of votes to allow states to investigate his claims of election fraud. Those baseless claims had already been rejected by numerous courts.Speaking on several Sunday morning news shows, Trump attorney John Lauro said Trump was within his First Amendment rights when he petitioned Pence to delay the certification on Jan. 6, 2021.

A now more than decade-old police officer involved shooting death led to dozens taking home an average of $43,000 after failing to heed disbursal instructions. After originally proposing the settlement for $5.2 million in January, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the process of handing out checks rewarding civil unrest began Friday.

The sum of $4.9 million was set to be divided among 84 plaintiffs named in the class action lawsuit that had been filed following the 2017 protests of the acquittal of former police officer Jason Stockley, with three individuals claiming the remainder at $85,000 a piece.

Bedminster, New Jersey — Former President Donald Trump, the leading Republican candidate for president in 2024, told Breitbart News exclusively in a long-form video interview of his major policy vision for a return to the White House should voters send him back to the Oval Office next year.
Trump, who is currently leading by far in the GOP primary and in many cases leading or tied with incumbent Democrat President Joe Biden in general election surveys, said he is confident and hopeful he will be able to hang on and win another term in the White House.

The New York Times asked readers what type of animal President Joe Biden would be, and the answers are brutally honest.
The results weren’t pretty, given the people answering the question didn’t hold back their honest thoughts on the 80-year-old president. Dinosaur, hippopotamus, and a sloth were just a few of the answers given when describing the president who forgets where he is more than he remembers— and Democrats expressed these about Biden.
“A camel. The way he talks, I see the camel’s mouth moving,” said Donnia, an independent from Illinois.

Once upon a time, New York City's top urban planning strongman, Robert Moses, built highways and bridges across and into New York City, aiming to stop traffic congestion.
And more of them. And more. Moses is why New York City has the Triborough Bridge, the Brooklyn-Battery Link, Interstate 278, the Cross Bronx Expressway, and many other passageways. He built them all, and then he built some more.
And as every journalism student, having read Robert Caro's The Power Broker, would know, Moses was astonished. Instead of less traffic coming into Manhattan from the outer boroughs and beyond -- there was more. Manhattan became more traffic-congested than ever as a result,

Last week, the country’s main opposition leader was hit with a new prosecution that could see him serve an effective life sentence in prison.
The charges were vague, and political in nature. He was accused of inciting extremism and encouraging other people to break the law. He is being railroaded through a judicial system that is deferential to the government. He cannot appeal to public opinion in his own defense: the country’s media are hostile to him, and he has been censored on most platforms in any case. The country in question was not the United States, but Russia. The opposition leader was not Donald Trump, but Aleksey Navalny.

In 2020, following a years-long effort to sabotage and subvert Donald Trump's presidency using a fraudulent Russiagate conspiracy and frivolous impeachment effort, America's ruling class conspired to rig the election against him.
It used COVID-19 to impose a uniquely lax, arguably unconstitutional, mass mail-in election system that it exploited to maximum effect, and censored political opponents—Trump included—on matters ranging from the integrity of that election to damaging stories about Joe Biden.
When, on January 6, 2021, a protest over the election boiled over into the Capitol Riot, the ruling class responded by casting millions of election skeptics as potential domestic terrorists.

On Friday night, Prosecutors asked U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan to issue a protective order after Trump warned on his social media account, "If you go after me, I'm coming after you!"
The protective order would limit the information Trump and his legal team would be allowed to share publicly about the case. It is an article of faith in the political world that Democrats’ legal jihad against Donald Trump has the perverse goal of assuring he becomes the Republican presidential nominee.
The Dems’ reasoning is that prosecuting Trump will make him unbeatable in the primaries and unelectable in the general election.
It’s a clever, jujutsu-style move that aims to elevate the opponent before flattening him.
And the plan is working, with Trump’s GOP support growing into a dominant majority while he has been indicted three times by Democratic prosecutors.

A resurfaced biography on Barack Obama details how the former president allegedly refused to condemn antisemitism and black nationalism during an argument with his then-girlfriend.
On Thursday, Tablet Magazine’s David Samuels published a lengthy expose based on a question-and-answer interview with David Garrow, a longtime civil rights historian who authored a biography on Obama in 2017 titled Rising Star. While largely overshadowed due to legacy media’s obsession with covering the Trump presidency, Garrow’s book contains insight into an exchange Obama had with his then-girlfriend in which he purportedly refused to condemn antisemitism and black nationalism.

One of the veteran attorneys advising special counsel Jack Smith in his prosecution of former President Donald Trump has donated thousands of dollars to Democrat politicians, including President Joe Biden.
David Rody left his role as a partner at the Sidley Austin law firm in 2022 to join the Department of Justice (DOJ) as a senior counsel in the criminal division. Now, he is helping advise Smith, who has indicted Trump twice for his alleged efforts to challenge the 2020 election and his handling of White House documents.
Interestingly, Rody is a Democrat donor who donated $5,600 to Biden in 2020 and nearly $7,000 to other Democrat causes from 2018 to 2022.

After three indictments and a slew of spurious criminal charges brought against Donald Trump, the former president may have a genuinely ingenious move up his sleeve in his never-ending battle with the American political machine.
The move is a simple one: Try me if you must, but let the whole world watch.
This tactical zigzag has been lost in the noise of the third indictment, but it was proposed last month by Trump attorney John Lauro during an interview on the Fox News program “America Reports.”

Donald Trump's legal team responded to a protective order from Special Counsel Jack Smith regarding a social media post from the former president.
The filing came after Trump posted on Truth Social on Friday stating, in capital letters, "If you go after me, I’m coming after you!"
Prosecutors say that a "substantial" amount of evidence is about to be handed over to Trump's legal team, "much of which includes sensitive and confidential information. The protective order would limit what Trump as well as his legal team can publicly share about the case.

Former President Donald Trump’s assertions during the 2020 presidential campaign about the Biden family’s foreign business dealings have proven to be accurate.
Trump routinely criticized then-Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden about his son’s dealings with Ukrainian, Russian and Chinese associates when he was on the campaign trail, most notably at the presidential debates leading up to the November 2020 election. Watch: (Video) “China ate your lunch, Joe. And no wonder your son goes in and, wha—, he takes out billions of dollars. He takes out billions of dollars to manage. He makes millions of dollars. And also, while we’re at it, why is it — just out of curiosity —

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is the most disliked Republican candidate in the GOP primary field, this week’s Morning Consult survey found.
As is consistent with past weekly surveys, Trump continues to stand as the candidate with the highest favorability among Republicans, with 71 percent viewing him favorably. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis comes in second place with 63 percent reporting a favorable view of the presidential hopeful. Both Trump and DeSantis, however, see roughly a quarter of respondents reporting an unfavorable view of them — 26 percent and 23 percent, respectively.
Half view former Vice President Mike Pence favorably, but he has the second highest unfavorable rating among all candidates listed,
